I watched the game last night and realized the Cavs basically stole our playbook for the series.

In other words, you know when you've been touched by the great one.
I feel more like I was touched by a creepy uncle.

Josh Smith: Fan's wet dream, coach's nightmare.
The fact of the matter is that while Josh has had some great games for the Hawks, it is pretty apparent that mentally, he may just never truly "get it" and learn what it is like to be a great player and teammate. There are times when he looks like he might turn a corner, and then Mr Hyde comes back out. His body language changes, he lags back, argues every call, scowls at the coach and stops hustling. It's almost like having the world's most talented 5 year-old. Once things begin to not go his way, the lights in his head go out. It's frustrating.
His numbers have been good, but there's more to pro sports than raw numbers. If he could get his head on straight, he'd be unstoppable. Until then, he's "what could be."
So I guess my stance is: Don't trade him to trade him, but if a great value comes along, pull the trigger. At this point, I say nobody on the Hawks is untouchable. Even JJ slipped out of "untouchable" status this year.

I don't see much difference between what Griffin can do vs. What Smoove can do. Beasley is better than both. However, Thompson might be a player and more importantly... A Center.
Blake Griffin is a freakish athlete and is all effort all the time. He'll end up being great. Unless of course the Clippers draft him.
-
There's an awful lot I would trade to get Blake Griffin in Atlanta.
-
I really want Boston to advance so this Cavs team can humiliate them.

The only other back-up center in the NBA that you could argue is better than Zaza is Oden/Pryzbilla. Outside of that I don't know what else you would want from a back-up center. I wouldn't want to pay him a ridiculous amount of money, but $5-6 million a year is not unreasonable.
What Zaza does that I think makes him so valuable, is he really seems to be able to get in other players' heads.
That and he hits his FTs.

Celtics are better 1-12. But unfortunately, the 1-4 for the Cavs is ridiculous. Lebron can demoralize teams on his own. I'd love to see us take a couple at home to make it fun and exiting, but in my opinion, I think it's 5 games at the most.
I see the Cavs as being the best team, especially with home court.

All I need to say is wow........Kwame Brown can make it damn near ten years in this league yet you think Marvin won't survive past his rookie deal? That to me seems like pure delusion.
VICK75 and his huge agenda against one player continues on. It's spreading from board to board!

4 blow out losses is still alot worse than 1 blow out loss. The fact that you can only bring up that ONE game shows how weak your argument really is. Comeback when you have more.
Congrats on winning possibly the worst playoff series in NBA history. Something to really be proud of.
You must be great at parties.

60 fn points AT HOME IN A PLAYOFF GAME YOU REALLY NEEDED TO WIN is alot differant than getting beat by 30 on the road vs the team that won the championship. Not to mention we actually hung tough and forced a 7th game vs them and we only won 37 games last year. The Miami argument is even more half wit because we WON THAT SERIES.
Answering the question: what does it look like when a team tries to get its coach fired?
-
When that 1 player is the league's best scorer and one of the league's best defenders... I think it is something to crow about. When the Celtics beat Jordan the year he dropped 63 on them, do you think the Celtics were crowing?
I would if I beat any team featuring Dave Corzine.
-
I think he didn't have his legs yesterday, being in the 4th qtr in a physical game...
More reason to not try it.
-
LOL. That's funny.
What exactly has been Jamaal Magloire's role in this series? But Zaza is "unprofessional"? And like I said last night, Magloire covered his eyes while dunking against us earlier in the year, so the Heat need to can this indignation over what Josh did. Remember their championship run when Alonzo Mourning showed up EVERYBODY he blocked or dunked on?
"What is this game coming to?" Well, obviously, it's not about playing your heart out on defense and staying with a "superstar" step for step to force a bad shot at the buzzer to get your home crowd into it. It's more about who can playact the most like they've been shot on touch fouls and pretending your back is so bad you need to be helped off the bench when you're losing in a playoff game to keep your media-created "warrior" status intact.
Agreed. What is this game coming to when taking pride in a great man-to-man defensive play is not admirable? Wade is a baby. Zaza has absolutely gotten in the Heats' collective heads.

How drunk am I?
I thought this was a Hotlanta thread. I'll see you guys in 12 steps.

Zaza is our MVP of the series so far.
I LOVE Zaza and his play, but my MVPs so far are:
Bibby - Every game has been playing well. Even playing defense.
Josh - As much as we hate his lack of IQ, he's been tearing it up inside.
Flip - I'll get killed for this, but he was HUGE in the last two wins. He's fearless.
-
I am in the "don't showboat" crew. Yes, the place would have gone nuts, but NEVER make the other team feel slighted when you have 2 more games to play.
Josh is a child and he plays like it at a lot of times. It's something we have to deal with.
Man...even Fratello was mortified by that dunk attempt.
-
is it just me, or is woodson trusting his bench more this year? i know a large part of it has to do with injuries, but it seems where he pretty much stuck with a 6-7 man rotation last year, he's now regularly playing flip, mo, zaza (again largely due to injuries). even solo has gotten some minutes tonight, west and acie got a little garbage time-do you think he would've done that last year?
zaza is playing big, even when his stat line doesn't reflect it as much, he's just in the right place doing what needs to be done. flip has been terrific these past couple games. mo hasn't been spectacular, but he hasn't hurt us too much either. i like solo adding a little physical play to the court, even if in limited minutes.
Gotta be honest...Flip, Mo, Zaza have been dping GREAT things for us.
-
I'd be willing to bet that Zaza hits them in practice. He has a decent looking jumper.

I don't have an issue with what is said via PM (as long as it's not threatening bodily harm or something like that) as that's the place for it. If you feel it was inappropriate then let a mod know and we'll deal with it.
Not necessary. I am a big boy, I can take it. Although a word of warning...he said he is going to stop being civil. So watch out!
Oh and apparently I fellate the male reproductive organ. So watch out!
-
He's got mad game because if I remember right he's about 5'7 and can dunk so he can't be any worse than some of our players from 3.
COULD at one brief time before my back betrayed me. I can still stroke the three. Love the elbows!
-
Me. I'm wet from three.
-
Hotlanta has not violated the rules of this site in this thread. You have and have been warned about it. If you have a problem with it then take it up via PM otherwise I'll take that to mean you are going to comply and not bring it up again in the forums.
You should see the PM I got. It was not very nice. I almost cried.
From laughing.

You don't pay attention very well. Go back and read the post. You'll see that I clearly said that there are differing combinations of talent and fire. Oh, and Chris Paul, Ben Gordon, and D. Williams have done far more than Joe Johnson has done this year in the playoffs.
Chris Paul's 4-point effort in his teams' 58-point loss was pretty impressive.
And actually, even though I don't agree with JJ being the decoy all the time, the fact that Miami is constantly doubling him has played into our hands pretty nicely. Well, except when Smith gets it from 15 out and does his "I'm Dale Ellis" routine. But if they're going to continue to do that, we'll probably continue to burn the Heat (pun).
A brutal and honest assessment of Josh Smith

As much as I think numbers aren't the be-all, end-all ways to judge athletes, numbers and statistics are not opinions. He did a good job of stating hypotheses based on solid numbers. I've been reading Hoopinion for a few years now, and the author is fantastic at analyzing numbers and breaking down games.
