  1. Another 2 blocks for Shelden tonight. Gotta be liking his blocks so far.
  2. Anyone getting play by play online? ESPN and NBA have them still in preview.
  3. Quote: Quote: You just cost me $100. Damn you. The multiplication was on Sene's side. Why not simple per48 it with a baseline of 10-15 MPG for a statistical sample? Sene wil play less important minutes but he's also the least experienced basketball prospects drafted (perhaps ever) against the most NBA-ready one. Rather than an algorithm just step up to this. W I am not a fan of per 48 stats. They can skew numbers. I want to know what a guy is going to bring per game. If you can't warrant 15 minutes, we shouldn't be able to multiply your minutes by 3 or 4 bloat things..
  4. Quote: Quote: Quote: I believe 3 categories might best reflect interior defense without getting mired into a statistical bog: shot blocking per 48, rebounding per 48, and net points per 100 posessions differential with and without a certain player on the court (found at 82games.com). This reflects individual shot blocking and rebounding and the overall intangible effects on opponent's scoring. Since a player might so dominate one category but lose closely in the two others, percentage difference totaled between two players in each category will be strongly considered. The comparison is between Sene and SW. Hmm? I wonder who is not going to show up on this one. W I have a better challenge. I will add up the total blocks for each game for Shelden. You can MULTIPLY each game for Sene. At the end of the year, I bet you $100 that Shelden's blocks are higher than Sene's. An offer you can't refuse. So if he has one game with 0 blocks it multiplies out to be 0? You just cost me $100. Damn you.
  5. Last year after Collier died, we got off to a slow start. We got robbed in at least 5 games in addition to that. I will say that we should have been 5-10 wins better last year. I will say 35 wins and barely missing the playoffs.

  7. Seems like they're taking a page out of the Falcons' book. Lots of small injuries.
  8. Great article. I am so pumped for the season to start.
  9. Harrisburg, PA. Only been to the ATL twice for Falcons games.
  10. Quote: I view us as having had the following pieces: - Shareef Abdur-Rahim (negative value) - Theo Ratliff - Nazr Mohammed - Jason Terry - Glenn Robinson (negative value) - Alan Henderson (negative value) - David Anderson - No present cap room but future cap room 2003 23rd pick in the draft; 2nd rounder 2004 Lottery pick; 2nd rounder 2005 Lottery pick; 2nd rounder 2006 Lottery pick; 2nd rounder 2007 First round pick (Atl); 2nd rounder * * * * * * I fixed that for you.
  11. Quote: I'm just trying to stop BK from utterly ruining the positive we do have. By harnessing all of the power of an internet message board...aces, my friend...aces.
  12. Lue. Elder statesman on the team. Been with us a few years. Smith is still a little petulant to be a captain.
  13. Quote: Quote: Do you post as VICK75 or Tonabull on the Falcons board? My agenda detector is off the charts. You rarely talk about anything different. Seriously, it gets old. Relax and enjoy life, man. Yes, my agenda is for the Hawks to be a contender. This is a Hawks' basketball forum. If I wanted to talk about medicine, politics, philosophy, music, pets, the weather, I would choose another website, right? W And I am sure you could turn any one of those topics into Shelden/KB hate threads, too.
  14. Quote: Quote: What if you are wrong? What would you do? How hard is that? What's the big deal with being wrong? I should ask what you mean by "wrong"? If we make the 2nd rd, 3rd rd of the playoffs with "this" team am I "wrong"? I'd say those are fair although the 3rd rd would be a definate "wrong" on my part as I consider that contending. I don't find making the playoffs with this team an indication of me being "wrong". BTW, do you believe (not hope) this team will contend for a title remotely as constructed? I don't believe I am wrong and I am not afraid to say it. I can look at BK's history as the losingest GM perhaps in all of sports and be supported enough, but honestly I believe it's the way he goes about his business (arrogant to an extreme fault) and the type of returns aside from wins and loses that tell more. We have a mess of a team with all our young talent at the forward positions. We have it despite proven better players and/or prospects available in the draft at other positions of need. He trades a MIP and passes on ROY in 2 months. May have passed on ROY this year. This all looks very bad and while that may not be enough to convict for everyone, BK didn't start out innocent until proven guilty. Has he ever had a winning season as GM? You don't have to agree and you don't have to like it but this guy isn't even doing well what he was supposedly brought in to do, acquire talent. With a 21, 17, 2, 5, & 6, Philly's, and next year's top pick, SAR, Theo, Rasheed, Antione Walker, Diaw, Al, and JT to trade, and more cap space than a team can possibly hope to have, a blind monkey could have as much if not more talent, particularly at more positions, than BK has amassed. W Do you post as VICK75 or Tonabull on the Falcons board? My agenda detector is off the charts. You rarely talk about anything different. Seriously, it gets old. Relax and enjoy life, man.
  15. Myspace is OK in my book. I have a basic page (my god, I am 31 years old) and have met back up with some classmates from High School and college. I will have to check out the Hawks pages later tonight.
  16. Quote: Anyone know what kind of money Billups will want next year and whether he would be worth it? Billups is 30 this year. He may have 3-4 good seasons left unless he pull a Sam I Am. Then he would have 6-7 good years left. I want to see the Hawks go after him strong next year. If we maintain our cap flexibility. Then there should be no trouble offering him a very nice contract. If the Hawks show enough progress. He would be tempted to come here. He's going to be pricey, but he could come in here and take this team to the next level. I would love it, but I bet Dumars locks him up.
  17. Quote: Zaza is a relatively undersized C who shoots less than 50% and plays very poor defense. Other than that, he's a bargain. He's 6'11", shot 45% because of having to take too many jumpers, and was hung out to dry by poor defense on the whole team. Zaza is so unfairly criticized around here. Shame he doesn't play for another team so we can all drool over the prospect of overpaying him in an upcoming off-season.
  18. Quote: Quote: How many positive Zaza quotes has anybody read that don't have something like "considering his salary"...it's because he otherwise isn't getting the job done - but he sucks on defense cheaply Exactly. At some point we have to get guys who can actually play and not just guys who are "bargains". So you want to trade "bargain" for "overpaid"?
  19. People like to play fantasy sports instead of going on intangibles and desire. KG is a good player, but he is never going to LEAD a team to a ring. Put him on a team with Wade or Nash and he can certainly go farther than he has. The problem is that he has fallen to "great second option" status. He is beyond the point in his career where he will be able to learn leadership, unlike Dirk, who learned in a few years. A lot of screaming and chest thumping is not leadership. Neither is backing down from Anthony Peeler in a playoff series. This is why I thought Cassell would be GREAT here. Yeah he is old, but he has the championships and is a leader and sort of a coach on the floor. He directs the younger guys and when he is on the bench, is not checking out women in the stands or BS-ing...he's jumping off the bench cheering on his mates. All the while, making Kaman and Brand better on the floor and teaching young Livingston. I thought he would come in and this team would immediately go to the playoffs because he could free up JJ, make Marvin and Smith better, and rub off on them professionally. Basketball is far more than a USA Today box score...more of it is how the team meshes and behaves on the court. I see a lot of it developing on this team. There are players I would rather have, but I think we're playing well with the hand we're being dealt (on the floor, in the draft, and in FA/offseason).
  20. Quote: I don't see him going anywhere no time soon. He has a long way to go to get up there with the Stephen A.'s of the world. Yes he would have to do way less work, act way more stupid, yell a lot, and not have all the facts to get to Stephen A's level.
  21. Quote: Quote: 3. Trades .........85-95%. The good trades: Jax for Al. JT/Hendu for Walker/Delk. Big Dog for 1st. Wallace for 1st. He has made some questionable trades: Reef/Theo/Dickau for Wallace... 2 1st/Diaw for JJ. = Questionable for some... That is definitely too high. I would put him at around 65% to 75%. You forgot about the Nazr trade, that was just pathetic. The Walker trade to Boston also was definitely not the best deal (just the LAL pick). Boston was able to get: Curtis Borchardt from the Utah Jazz and guard Qyntel Woods, the draft rights to forward Albert Miralles, two second-round picks and cash from the Miami Heat. I guess you could argue that pick landed us JJ...but I don't think that particular pick was a deal-breaker. Overall, he has made 10 trades as GM although its more like 9 because SAR/Theo/Sheed was techincally 2 trades but really just one. Thats the way I think about it, there are really only three clear cut positive trades: Lue, S-Jax, and Peja. There is one clear cut negative trade: Nazr. The rest are debateable. What did we trade for Nazr? Or do you mean what we traded away? Sorry, my memory sucks.
  22. He is lazy and soft. Philly fans hate him.
  23. Quote: Memphis just made a trade to get Swift back. And he is too similar to Josh Smith. Minus all the talent and upside.
  24. Like the great Bill Walton said: "If you put Michael Olowokandi on your team, disaster is soon to follow." We are trying to build, not take wash out lazy bums.
