  1. Quote: I think that Diener kid outscored Foy and ROye should we trade SHelden for him? I wanted the Hawks to draft Travis Diener when he was there. I loved him at Marquette. He was an unsung player with some skills.
  2. Quote: you might wanna add "The Shaq OF The Mac" Gary Trent to your list I have stood next to Gary...if he is 6'9", I am 6'1"...my doctor says I am 5'7".
  3. I cut Stoudemire because we have no idea about his health, but I don't have first hand knowledge of his play. I cut Carmello because of the way he bitched on the last USA team, and because I think he's not good for international play. I cut Battier because I don't see what he brings to the table (can say the same about Bowen, but I guess his defense is the reason we should keep him). I see us keeping all 3 PGs to match up better with the smaller teams. Wade and JJ stay easily. Wade becuase he is great, and JJ because of his good man to man defense, shooting, and ability to play 3 positions in a pinch. Lebron stays. No brainer here as he will be the best player on the floor every day. Brand has to stay, too. The rest I could care less about. I like Jamison, and I like Miller because he can really get into people's heads.
  4. Quote: i would have agreed with you about the pre-braids, pre-giant contract S-Jax he was a great hustle player and leader while he was here Since he went to Indy and got that big contract, i feel like his game has gone downhill bigtime alot more bad shots and pouting these days from him Go Hawks! I agree. This is the guy who was the REAL maniac in that Detroit brawl/riot. He just went into the stands and was hauling away at people and looking like he was going to split open their heads and feat on the goo inside. I'd also pass because JJ plays his position and plays it way better.

  6. Lover: Zaza Pietrus/Murphy for Al Foster for Al Speedy Marvin Smith JJ Shelden I will give him a while before I start the hate) Salim Hater: Iverson Magliore Al for a 1st only Shareef Chris Paul Diaw Eddie Curry Marbury Francis Anthony Johnson I will edit as time goes on I guess.
  7. Quote: I was on a conference call for about an hour and a half today. When I got back to my PC, I hit 'refresh' on the Hawksquawk homepage (as we all do hundreds of times per day, I'm sure) and I saw that there were 30 new posts! So I thought to myself, "Wow! The Al deal must be done!" Nope, just all of us finding things to argue about. Hawksquawk could easily be renamed Fussytown! I am in agreement with all of that. I am disappointed every day I come by and see no Al news other than posts from realgm or some other dirt rag.
  8. I still have no faith in that site. It is like the ProFootballWeekly of bball. I still don't like anything IND has.
  9. Robinson couldn't pass or defend, Shareef only wanted to shoot 20 footers, and we started Dion Glover for gods sake. They went by stats alone and never broke down the flaws of each player. I hated that team from day 1.
  10. It's Tomax vs. Xamot! Special guest ref: Zartan.
  11. Quote: Quote: What a bunch of whiny babies...some people can't handle the truth. What you don't understand is that I have been a ticket holder since 1985. I have been sitting down in my seats for a long time. I DRIVE A DODGE STRATUS!!!! for those snl fans out there.... You do not talk to me like that!! I work too hard to deal with this stuff!! I work too hard!! I'm a Division Manager in charge of 49 people!! I drive a Dodge Stratus!!
  12. You have mentioned it ad nauseum. This thread had nothing to do with Shelden. Relax.
  13. Quote: Outside of Diesel and a precious few others most peolple knew Marvin wasn't ready last year for big things. However, if you watched the games you could see his talent. He has as pure a stroke for a big guy as you will ever see. He is also very athletic which is a necessity in the league. So, dismissing a 19 year old with that much talent is stupid. Real stupid. Shelden Williams is the polar opposite of Marvin. He is an old rookie at 23. He has 4 years of college under his belt. He does not possess good scoring tools, ie, low post or good face up moves. He overpowered lesser players in the ACC. That won't happen in the NBA. He also lacks the athleticism and explosiveness to really do well in the NBA. I see him as a role player off the bench who can help the team by taking charges and learning how to use his body for rebounding and scoring. He is, in many ways, a bigger project than Marvin because without the athleticism he has to figure out how to get by in the league...that won't happen overnight. I talked with one of the ATL Spirit before the draft. I begged him not to do it. He said his people were so high on Shelden, that he trusted their judgement. They were wrong. This guy may carve out a fair career as he learns the ropes...but he won't be a huge help this year. The thought of him starting at PF is absurd. I see him in a lot of foul trouble and he could give us 18-23 minutes a night. Folks, that is the guy we drafted at #5. Marvin will go for 15 and 8 this year. His quantum leap will be in year 3...he will be a 20 and 10 guy. This kid will pan out big. Shelden is just too limited. A good GM would have seen it. Pete - no need to hijack this thread. We can see that you're unhappy with Shelden in every other thread. I don't mean to be a jerk, but I think there is already a thread for the Shelden talk. Please don't become the next Diesel...finding ways to contort every discussion to hate for one guy.
  14. Quote: Marvin is Currently leading the RMR in PPG at 26 per game (which is 5 more than the 2nd leading scorer...Salim ) He's also tied for 2nd in RPG at 7 a game, Tied for 4th for assists with 4 a game, and is shooting 87% from the line. I know its only summer league, but he's clearly the best player at the RMR right now... I love it. Last year people got on him for not doing much, but I like the numbers so far. Keep it up, kid! Queue the haters in 3...2....1....
  15. Well, if we should be worried about Sheldon, then we better be prepared for Shavlik Randolph to dominate the league, too.
  16. Quote: His stat line against Dallas was worst that his 1st game! 6 points, 3 rebounds, 7 fouls last week Diesel started a thread making fun of O'Bryant's lack of rebounding in his 1st few summer league games...And wanted to know who wanted that bum over Shelden? Well Diesel, What do you think of Shelden vs O'Bryant now? The think the Board would like a statement soon! Nope. It would also be time to be excited about Skita right about now...and he really sucks.
  17. Quote: Don't quite understand Shelden only getting 16 mintues though. Looks like 6 fouls quick! Ugh.
  18. Holy crap! That's very encouraging. Did I see 15-15 from the line? Dayum. Nice. I know it's summer league, but that is really nice to see. Also good to see us battle like that.
  19. Meh...I see some positives and negatives. I think going crazy after one Summer League game is a bit rash and absurd. Doesn't Skita dominate these leagues every year? That right there should tell you how much of a measuring stick these games are.
  20. Quote: According to the Utah radio station guide...KBER 101.1FM will join the game in progress at 6pm (i guess that is mtn time so 8pm here). KBER has live streaming audio on their website but I can't get it to work on my machine here at work. (maybe not a problem...I can't get 790thezone to work on these old pieces of cr#p either). Not on KBER.
  21. Anyone going to be in the chatroom for it?? I am anxious to follow the action...on radio or anyway possible.
  22. This is an unexpected encouragement... Quote: Williams drew praise from Woodson by hitting a 15-foot jumper when left unguarded, a shot he rarely saw while playing for Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski. Thanks for the article. Nice reading.
  23. Quote: I watched the draft, and I didn't see anything nearly as crazy as a 19 player trade! Behold the power of the internet.
  24. Quote: Finally a good deal for the Knicks! This is a remarkably reasonable signing for them. Yeah but it is so much more fun to make fun of them.
  25. Not so sure that "banging" is the direction we need to go. The league is changing. Gotta be able to keep up the pace. I understand the need for interior defense, but I get the feeling that management may have faith that Zaza can learn better defense along with the team. Let's not forget that Zaza was on an island a lot last year and that the team overall played poor defense making him look worse than I think he may be. It started at the PG position and then it broke down from there. I am not in the Murphy hate camp (I actually kinda dig him outside of injuries), but there are better players out there to be sure. I am not sure if Magliore with an expiring contract is what we need. We may be renting him for a year. Plus, I think there is a red flag there if Milwaukee trades an actual center after a year for a SF/PF that truly isn't that good on D (Al). Why so eager to get rid of JM? But what do I know? I am just waiting for anything to go down and get it out of the way so we can look towards the season.
