  1. Just watched video of Sengun. Wow he's agile, flexible for a center. Didn't realize.
  2. They shopped Sabonis. Wonder if it's related.
  3. Wow, that's great for Suggs to drop 1 spot to a better situation.
  4. I sincerely doubt they're trading anyone they're featuring on their Twitter Feed about Draft night. Moving Cam after putting him front and center on this tweet (less than 2 hours ago) would be asinine.
  5. My theory on all the Cam talk is some team is trying to leverage in trade talks (probably NY) that they can get Cam if they want so lower your requirements on player X to make us take him instead. This is all probably rumormongering to lower the value on someone else in the market to acquire him cheaper. There is no world where Travis could save face trading away Cam unless it brought back a legitimate star. No way it could be to bring back a pick.
  6. I always refer to this and the trade deadline as silly season. OMFG its so beyond silly right now.
  7. Fact 1: Cam Reddish will make < 4.7 million this year. Fact 2: The 7th pick in this year's lottery will make $4.55 million. Fact 3: The average player salary in the NBA in 2020 was $8.2 million. Fact 4: Reddish won't be due to renegotiate that salary until the 23/24 season. Fact 5: No one the Hawks draft this year would start over anyone in their starting 5. No one would start over Trae, Bogi, Hunter, Collins or CC. Okay so just take a look at the facts. Forget all the click baiting or anything else. Based on his production so far, Cam has been an average NBA player (early season injuries this year hurt his stats). At 4.7 and 5 million the next 2 years he's a freaking bargain. There is no rush on the part of the Hawks to move Cam for 2 more years salary wise. He will only improve the next 2 years and up his value. The only benefit of the Hawks moving Cam for 11 or 13 is a salary reduction. That's it, end of story. Cam's performance to pay to potential ratio's are 2x to 10x value. There is no onus to on the Hawks to move him before the trade deadline in 2023. You don't trade him for a backup and there is no real cap savings to trade him. All of these rumors are bogus and don't deserve the bandwidth being spent on them. The only conceivable scenario when Cam is traded is one where we lose Collins in a sign - n - trade and take back Cam's replacement + a pick and can still draft for ourselves at 20. I have no idea who in the "F$#%" is generating that rumor but it makes 100% zero sense or cents. You can't even blame it on injuries because Cam would have to pass a physical to be traded and if there is something permanent the deal would be voided. Its just nonsense and foolishness.
  8. Its all in the wording. Read the articles critically, "The Hawks listened to offers on Reddish" for example. Every team listens to offers for any player on their roster when an opposing GM calls. The phrasing there is specific so its not a lie. Of course we listened to offers. Everyone listens then politely declines and hangs up. Notice in none of the articles/rumors does it say "were close to a deal with XYZ to trade Reddish". That's because they're weren't, aren't etc. Its all in the wording to tell if a rumor has legs. These rumors are always geared toward one fanbase or another to either A) get you looking for fear you are losing your favorite player or B) get the other fanbase excited over a fleece. They immediately turn on sportscenter for a day or check the website hoping to be the first to hear about "the big deal". There is nothing to see here. Move on. You will know it's real when reporter A says "are close to a deal, are talking with "team X" and/or the "other pieces" are discussed" until then, its click bait to drive ratings, or views.
  9. Having been a 19-20 year old male myself, I'm not huge on betting on them. Every so often, I see someone I'm enthusiastic about (Trae or RJ Barrett for example) and I'll go out there and pine for. I think the last draft night person I wanted that I wasn't right on was Frank Kaminsky. He's been a player in the league but I really thought he'd be better. But math proves out right most of the time. There are 15 roster slots per team in the NBA and realistically 10 rotation players. 30 teams, that's about 300 rotation players in the NBA. The average rotation player stays in the league 10 years (most players are out by the end of their rookie deal). That means 30 rotation level players per year drafted out of 60. You are already 50/50 on finding a rotation guy. of those rotation guys, 1/2 are starters. Of those starters, 2-3 are star quality. It means that in an average draft class there are 4-6 star caliber players, maybe 1 superstar. During the great Bagley vs JJJ debate of 2018, KB and I made the point that the most important investment a team can make is scouting. That finding that 1 star that falls out of the lottery is your most important goal. We've done pretty well the last few years finding rotation guys, stars. But draft night is a rough night for most teams. Just keeping it real.
  10. See bolded. I believe this as much or more than the most everything I've read today. No insider knowledge, just gut.
  11. https://www.yahoo.com/sports/titans-julio-jones-sued-cannabis-115130371.html Titans' Julio Jones sued by cannabis company in connection to alleged fraud, money laundering. Article above.
  12. The list goes on and on for those sure they're choosing the right player in the draft.
  13. in 2014, Andrew Wiggins went #1 overall to Cleveland Also drafted that year Dante Exum #5 Doug McDermott #11. 2013 ... Cleveland wins again....#1 Anthony Bennett.
  14. 2016 saw all 3 of these players taken in the first 13 picks. #4 Dragan Bender, Phoenix Suns #8 Marquese Chriss, Phoenix Suns #13 Georgios Papagiannis, Sacramento Kings
  15. In 2009 Earl Clark was chosen 14th overall by the Cleveland Cavaliers. He went on to average 3.0 points in his NBA career.
  16. A bit of draft realism here: in 2010, the 76ers took Evan Turner #2 overall. There is no such thing as a sure thing.
  17. Most of my grumpiness is meant to head off trends, not to discourage new posters. Welcome to the board. I blame myself really. I usual post a twice annual post meant to discourage posters from believing you can acquire a Westbrook for a Subway coupon book, 3 pesos and an animated GIF of a raccoon and a porcupine getting it on. I forgot this year.
  18. https://hoopshype.com/rumor/derrick-favors-on-the-block/ On Sunday, ESPN reported “the Jazz reportedly have some luxury tax concerns” and may look to move a veteran like Joe Ingles for a pick. The Action Network’s Matt Moore said the Jazz are “eager” to move Derrick Favors and would attach this pick to do so. League sources have told me the same. If Utah elects to retain this selection, or add another, Sharpe is a perfect target. He’s a tough big who could back up Rudy Gobert and provide some small-ball 5 potential with his versatility.
  19. You also cut off the quote which means I may not have been clear. " I can confirm that backup PG is their number 1 priority in the draft, F/A, pick up games in the neighborhood, trade, games of horse after practice. They are looking everywhere for Trae's backup."
  20. That doesn't mean they will draft a PG it means that all things being equal, they'll choose PG before anything else. If no quality PG exists, of course they'll choose other but their number one priority this offseason is solidifying their PG position going forward. Deciding on both the primary backup and developmental PG positions. Yes, that is something I was able to nail down and share.
  21. Okay so now that I understand that. there are flaws though this is pretty good. There are a number of non-guaranteed contracts on Toronto. For each one they waive, they will incur a minimum roster charge for calculating. I need some time to see if there's room for this created TPE you're creating. #1 issue is the cap hold for the picks. But you're moving those picks to Philly. I just did the math and no, you don't have to move Flynn to make this work. They can do it without moving Flynn. This means renouncing Lowry and not being able to use him in a SNT. They have $31 million in non-guaranteed salaries and an amount of cap holds I need an abacus for: see below. Free Agent Cap Holds Lucas Nogueira $ 8,841,915 $ 8,841,915 $ 8,841,915 $ 8,841,915 Malcolm Miller $ 1,985,289 $ 1,985,289 $ 1,985,289 $ 1,985,289 Nando De Colo $ 1,901,900 $ 1,901,900 $ 1,901,900 $ 1,901,900 Jason Thompson $ 1,620,564 $ 1,669,178 $ 1,719,248 $ 1,805,206 Jeremy Lin $ 1,620,564 $ 1,669,178 $ 1,719,248 $ 1,805,206 Jodie Meeks $ 1,620,564 $ 1,669,178 $ 1,719,248 $ 1,805,206 Kyle Lowry $ 39,344,900 $ 40,525,100 $ 42,551,250 OG Anunoby $ 11,616,645 $ 11,616,645 $ 11,616,645 Patrick McCaw $ 7,600,000 $ 7,600,000 $ 7,600,000 Stanley Johnson $ 4,945,395 $ 4,945,395 $ 4,945,395 Gary Trent Jr. $ 2,079,826 $ 2,079,826 $ 2,079,826 Alize Johnson $ 2,025,705 $ 2,025,705 $ 2,025,705 Jalen Harris $ 1,489,065 $ 1,489,065 $ 1,489,065 Paul Watson $ 1,489,065 $ 1,489,065 $ 1,489,065 Worried about column 2 here. In order for this to work, they can't retain more than $10 million in the free agent cap hold players and/or the guaranteed contract players. So theoretically this could work to get Simmons to Toronto and hold on to the 4th pick. If it happens, god bless them. I don't have those marbles.
  22. Okay I understand. These are all unified thoughts. Dude that's complicated.
