  1. That's not how this works. See here: 6 years or less column. That's his max contract allowable signing with us. Starting at $28.1 million, same cap hit...no exceptions or weird NFL bonus fenagling.
  2. yah the salaries don't align and although they'd like to drop Wiggins, I'm not sure this gets it done. The deal as I stated it would help them drop 6 million in salary and like $30 million in LT penalty but I'm not sure that moves their needle to give up now. I don't think JC alone puts them back into contention for a chip.
  3. Let me set the math for you. JC's starting contract is about $28 million if max'd. Wiseman + Wiggins next year is $40 million. The easiest answer is we include a pick that gets forwarded to another team who sends a player to GS worth about $7 million. The least GS takes back in this deal is about $35 million so it would have to be a player buy at 7-17 million with a pick (helping someone else drop cap and they'd have to take something else back so a pick. Sending Bruno doesn't really help he doesn't make enough. Either we send that 7 ish million because we'll be over the cap and the salaries must align or we send compensation (pic) and someone else sends it.
  4. Hmmm....see I don't hate that because I don't hate Wiggins. I think he's overpaid but he isn't as bad as people play him out to be. There are 2 years left on that deal as opposed to a full contract if you resign JC. As long as there is no other "compensation" I think I'd do that deal. Let Wiseman tutor under Clint (it did wonders for OO) and see if OO can make that jump to the 4 offensively (he's already there on defense). 3 years from now a starting roster of : Trae Cam/Huerter Hunter OO Wiseman would be pretty hard to beat defensively. You have my attention now....tell me more. (FYI, there would have to be something else sent to GSW to satisfy the cap and you can't add to it in a sign and trade from our end so it would have to be 2 separate simultaneous deals or 3 team).
  5. Okay, lets be real. Wiseman is better than OO. His ceiling is top 5 center (5 years from now). OO's more of a top 15 ceiling. Still good, but there is a huge difference in 5 to 15. Wiseman has size and you can't teach size. He has a solid foundational offensive game. Needs polish but he's very ahead there. Wiseman, if we're giving his value would be Clint + 20 salary filler from GS (they obviously aren't doing this). or OO +20 and a future unprotected 1st. Wiseman is not...I repeat is not worth Hunter right now....period. He is not worth Cam based on Cam's unlimited ceiling....yes of every Hawk on the roster right now Cam has the highest ceiling. He has a climb but his natural gifts are higher than anyone else's. Wiseman is worth Huerter and maybe more except for the the x factor as a teammate Huerter brings. He is a calming force, a loved teammate and his ginger lack of a soul makes every opponent nervous. Talent, absolutely you trade him for Wiseman but K'von has intangibles that you either have or you don't and we don't know that about Wiseman (I'm guessing not). In the modern NBA, having the best big still matters but it is not like it was 20 years ago. The game is won on the wing and off penetration. Real 2 way wings are hard to come by. We use the phrase 3 and D but how many are really good it. Really, how many? All 3 of our wings are good at it (if we count post season Cam). They will only get better and that is the bedrock of modern championships. I was talking to a buddy of mine who is not a Hawks fan. His opinion was that if 1) Hunter is healthy, 2) Cam is healthy starting with Game 1 and 3) Trae doesn't step on a ref's foot....He thinks we win that series in 6 and are NBA champs right now. I agree. If we can add Wiseman without tampering with the core, I say do it. But we either need to bring JC back or find a viable replacement, keep our 3 wings and Trae. That's your core folks...everything else is moveable. Those 5 for the next 6 years are the backbone of a deep playoff run each year. Tinker, don't get greedy.
  6. I advocated trading multiple draft assets move up and take him. I think he's going to be great but Cam is going to be too good to gamble on Wiseman's health.
  7. 10 years ago I would have told you no. Then I started watching reaction videos on youtube to music and classic sports. My favorites are always the energetic women with permanent "shocked' face. Looks be damned.
  8. I should have read your post before speaking. How the hell can anyone not love Renee?
  9. I'll touch this but from a different perspective. I hate, absolute hate the double standard. These sideline reporters, hires are promoted by the team not only on their talent but their looks. They almost always hire lookers, encourage them to dress in ways that wouldn't be okay for men to dress, post photos of them, promote them based on their looks (from photo shoots to not hiding them behind a table. Then they tell people to respect them as professionals. You didn't! Start letting these ladies show their talents before you shine them all up and parade them out. I'm disappointed by the double standard in the league. In the last few years though, I've seen a titanic shift in competence from sideline reporters, professionalism and show prep from the female reporters/anchors. and this gives me an opportunity to cheer on the Hawks once again. Renee Montgomery is better at basketball, smarter about basketball, better prepared as an analyst than 99% of her male counterparts. We've honestly struck gold keeping her in the Atlanta family. It doesn't hurt she's a looker but I don't even find myself paying attention to that when she's talking. She's brilliant.
  10. I love me some Wiseman but I'm not sure I'd trade anyone. I'm not trading Cam, I'm not trading Hunter. I'd be hesitant to trade Huerter (but depending on Wiseman's health, I'd go straight up or some low draft capital). He's just had a bad history of health and needs 2 more years to really start tapping his potential. But Cam, Hunter, Young are all untouchable in my book. Huerter is weird. He's not as good or have as high a ceiling of any of those 3 but great team guys, great glue guys, the guy everyone loves is really hard to come by.
  11. I'm seeing mocks sending him to Philly at 28. Size is a real concern. Stamina won't be since he'd be coming off the bench.
  12. FYI, neither of my big men interests are on that list. Kai Jones or Neemias Queta
  13. Any interest in Mac McClung in the second round?
  14. Its just a salary thing and his value is pretty high right now.
  15. If he'll accept the 20 minute a night role, I want Cousins.
  16. I refuse to comment on this list until Westbrook is a choice.
  17. I advocated at the time to draft Markkanen. I think he's improperly used on Chicago. I think Chicago's system has been a mess. They had more talent than their record.
  18. That final non-guaranteed year carries a $5 million guaranteed rider for the year Young/Huerter come due. So release him and its still $5 mil against the cap and you need another player. Keep him and its diminishing skill $21 million + on the ledger. Good for a rebuilding team, not for one taking on internal salary.
  19. I took a hard look at it and you're right. Without draft assets, there really isn't a good fit without a 3rd party. I do like Culver more than most but understand he's a risk. I think people are overvaluing Gallo right now though based on performance. He is an aging vet and it has to be looked at as a futures market. Again, there were no less than 3 teams interested but Minny is the one that put out the leak to the press which told me something was stirring.
  20. Its been done. I don't mean to be salty but this happens a lot. You give info and people come at you as if you're proposing it. Its meant to start a discussion. I'm not saying "oh we should do this". What I'm saying is, "hey community this is being discussed by people who matter and I don't have all the details. Here's something that matches salary wise, what does good value look like to you." I don't have info on the specifics except a Gallo swap was mentioned and due to the cap situations of both teams, it requires similar salaries. So its gotta look something like XYZ. So what other compensation would you want, picks, swaps, etc. I didn't do it, its not my idea but it was discussed, it happened and the information is mostly guarded. I spoke about it a few days ago as making sense. I saw the rumor on hoopshype, made a few calls and said what I know with a "I'll say more when I know".....mistakes were made!
  21. Again, I'm not advocating for anything, I'm not on any particular side. I think I'm going to save this exchange and the next time someone questions why I don't go into more detail on something I've heard, I'm going to just direct them back to page 56. If you have a genius idea what good value would be, by all means post it but there is a long line of people waiting to just crap all over other people's positive input. The internet just lets you jump the line. Put yourself out there or stop just crapping on everyone else who is just providing you real info on what was actually discussed or is possible.
  22. The real deal here is Minnesota has a real cap problem for a team that isn't winning consistently. They have to shake some things up and that will include sending draft assets, involving other teams, etc. If they waive every free agent they have this year but pick up their team options, they are still 5 million into the LT without a full roster. They're broken and will need to break things up. I 100% believe there are some legs behind this rumor and not just because it hit hoopshype today.
  23. The deal as I wrote it is 2 players in the same cap space as was previously 1. Technically, its a cap saving move. When you consider Rubio has 1 year left and Gallo has 1 year at full salary and another at $5 million guaranteed, it would be a move to create future cap space when you're signing Trae/Huerter next year. Basically clearing $5 million off the books for the 22/23 season. You also aren't necessarily holding on to Rubio the whole season either or not expanding it to a 3 team deal. When these first legit rumors break, its best to not attack it as crap until the whole deal surfaces.
