  1. I would just like to say, I'm laying the blame on last night's loss squarely on Huerter's shoulders. In the previous 4 games, all wins, Huerter committed at least 1 hard foul. Kevin doesn't bow up on anybody and we lose. I mean would anyone on this board wanna fight a 6'7" ginger....Kevin's gotta lay down the soulless law.
  2. Kevin's gotta stop this nonsense or we'll never be able to afford him.
  3. https://www.yahoo.com/sports/sixers-vs-hawks-philly-could-154422040.html "According to the Twitter account @NBARefStats, Foster and Brothers rank second and fourth, respectively, for most personal fouls called per 48 minutes. Foster and Brothers are the two most-tenured officials in the NBA, so I guess that’s something, right? But have you ever heard of an NBA referee getting fired for being bad at their job? I can’t remember any. One more alarming stat: in playoff games officiated by Foster, the Sixers are 3-8 all-time. In games officiated by Brothers, they’re 2-8. Yikes." I'm not sure I've ever seen a 6 hours before game time "why we lost" thread.
  4. I'd be okay flipping this year's pick for a future 1st or someone else's cast off in the right situation. A little gambling if you will.
  5. https://official.nba.com/l2m/L2MReport.html?gameId=0042000201 The league has no shame! Not only did they say it was correct not to call a foul on the BB mugging, they also said the following play shouldn't have been a foul. There are some funny ones in here.
  6. Patiently waiting for the NBA's last 2 minute report of yesterday's game. https://official.nba.com/2020-21-nba-officiating-last-two-minute-reports/
  7. I think the biggest Trae benefit that goes unnoticed is the unforced defensive errors he causing in the opponents. They are so amped to rotate, so quick to make a decision to help, try to cheat just so much to stop him it opens up everything else. The very pressure of the defense having to extend to 30 creates lanes that even Gallo can drive (see game 1).
  8. Sometimes I think Steve Holman reads my old posts for content. Not the first time he's tweeted what I've been saying....coincidence? (patting self-inflated ego on the back).
  9. But the good news is Luka now gets a few extra weeks to get a head start on packing on his training camp weight.
  10. I've always made the argument that some of the stats Luka generates (especially rebounds) are empty stats that don't impact the outcome of the game. For example, how many of the rebounds Luka gets would have normally been grabbed by a big man on his own team but Luka grabbed the rebound because he wasn't out where he should have been at 3/4 court to initiate transition or guard in the event of an offensive rebound kick out. Or in the case of Trae's assists, he truly is creating for his teammates where in a large number of Luka's assists, he just giving the ball up when his iso attempt fails. I've watched quite a few of Luka's games where he gets an assist when in reality someone on his team is actually just bailing him out. His main attribute being he is big and draws a crowd leaving someone open but its not the same as creating and its less reliable come playoff time. I'm one of the bigger stat heads around but some stats can be empty. This isn't to take away from the player Luka is, but IMHO Trae's 35/10 can be way more impactful than a Luka 30/10/10. I'll take Trae almost every time because what he does makes others better. In this example, look at Capela. Capela is playing 2.7 less minutes per game for the Hawks than he was with Houston but is scoring 1.3 more points per game and getting .5 more rebounds. Trae is not only being impactful himself but helping Clint be impactful as well. Now lets look at Porzingis. He is getting more rebounds as a Maverick than as a Knick but he's scoring 2.6 less points per game and getting 1.4 less blocks. He's coming into his prime and his numbers should be increasing, not decreasing. He's shooting 4% higher than 2 years ago but scoring 2.6 less points per game. Some of Luka's stats are coming at the expense of his teammates, even though you could argue that teammate is earning it more by doing better work on the glass and shooting a higher percentage. I'll take Trae's team first basketball. Just my preference.
  11. Halftime at the Clips/Mavs game - That the refs swallowed their whistles at the end of the Hawks' game was one of their takeaways in their recap.
  12. Dude I was just saying I might have to turn the sound off and turn on the radio.
  13. I'm afraid I am unhealthfully vested in this post season. Going crazy waiting on tip off.
  14. Philly lost 150 less man games to injury than the Hawks and won 8 more games. Lets not pretend they're world beaters. In a normal 82 game season they were on pace to win 56 games. Hardly unbeatable. Philly gave up 108.1 points per game...Atlanta 111.4. If we look post all-star break. Philly's net point differential per game was +5.6, Atlanta +2.3 and Atlanta played an average of 4-5 men down nightly. Atlanta also played the tougher schedule post all star break. This series is very, very even if Embiid is healthy. The only question in my head is the officiating and how much does Embiid play, if any.
  15. So I've waited to give my feelings on this one because I was looking for something to base those feelings on. Two possibilities, I'll separate them. Option 1 (Embiid does not play) In this scenario, the Hawks are huge compared to the 76er's. Capella is bigger than Simmons, JC is bigger than Harris, Hunter is bigger than Green, BB is bigger than Thybulle. These are the 4 that started with Curry in the last game. The Hawks have a massive advantage on the boards. Off the bench, the only person that scares me is Howard vs OO. Dwight is a bull and can rebound. In this scenario, I'm calling the Hawks in 6. I'd say 4 or 5 but I really don't think the NBA can afford or will allow a sweep. Option 2 (Embiid does play). In this scenario, it negates the Hawk's size difference but gives us an athleticism advantage (assuming Embiid plays below the rim). In this scenario, I'm really torn. I could see the Hawks in 6 (but a very different 6 than above) but could also see the 76ers in 7. I'd call it a pick em in this situation. Matchups to watch. Green/Curry vs (Hunter/Huerter/BB) - One of Philly's biggest strengths is the ability to hit the outside shot after the kick. What the Hawks offer that many teams do not is interchangeable parts at the 2/3. I feel as though how McMillan choose to defend Philly (personnel) is as important as how Philly tries to attack Atlanta. If I'm McMillan, I'm leaving Hunter or Collins on Simmons as much as possible and then playing big against everyone else, leaving Trae on Curry. I'm taking the ball out of Ben Simmons hand and forcing Curry/Green to be creators or iso. I'm letting Clint guard Harris and pushing John Hunter down to who's left. I'm disrupting Simmons with athletic size and forcing him to be a shooter. Howard vs OO - Lets hope the young man is up to the challenge. LouWill vs George Hill - Lou has got to be better this series and Hill is a challenge to play against. Gallo vs whoever they throw at him. Outside of Philly's centers, Gallo is gonna be the biggest mofo on the floor whenever he comes in. He needs to play bigger, shoot over everyone and do Gallo things. We cannot have a series like the last one. I see the Hawks winning this series. If Embiid doesn't play, the Refs become 76ers. If Embiid does play, I see it being called more fair but the most important person on the floor will be Nate and how he plays Philly defensively.
  16. With no Embiid, this is the series JC earns his max. He'll have a mismatch 90% of the possessions on the floor. He needs to abuse people.
  17. Found an interesting article that some of you might enjoy (for different reasons). @AHF @NBASupes @kg01 @KB21 @Spud2nique @JayBirdHawk https://www.yahoo.com/news/luka-doncic-spectacularly-awful-4th-172018670.html <quote> Hard to conceive Luka Doncic is your random choke artist. But by the time the fourth quarter rolls around, the man is gassed having carried the team the previous three quarters. </quote>
  18. https://www.nba.com/player/1629010/jerome-robinson/bio Still taking up space.
  19. woah that was easy...an expired job posting for just such a position https://www.velvetjobs.com/job-posting/player-health-specialist-p34722904
  20. So there's this "ghost" position on every NBA medical staff. Usually its a hired consultant on retainer. I have no idea who we use (if anyone). One of their jobs is to assess the physical health and mental well being of the players. It was kind of a big deal in the 90's and the players hated it. Felt like big brother was watching them. One of the things they do is to assess players the team is drafting and do body analysis from photos, measurements, etc and try to determine their optimal playing weight, if they'll keep growing, etc. There are legal limits to what they encourage their players to do, become physically but they do discuss it. I would pay real life money and a little bit of crypto to get my hands on their reports on Cam. I'd love to see where they project him size, stature wise. Future projection of role. If I had to guess, they envision him as a big 3/stretch 4 down the road with point forward skills. It will be interesting to see how he develops and if he buys in now that Nate is in charge. Nate's let men be men approach seems like a good fit for Cam.
  21. I argued with him that there was no way Huerter would be there at 19, injuries or no. I thought he was going end of the lottery. Never dreamed he'd fall to us.
  22. More vindication of my personal hate for Dennis. https://www.yahoo.com/sports/magic-johnson-rips-dennis-Schröder-i-dont-think-hes-a-laker-010054168.html
