  1. I mean seriously, read the list....not elite at any one thing but good at most. Can put the ball on the floor and get his own shot (check). Can guard 1-3 (check). Can shoot from 3 with good eFG (check). Good positional defense (check). Disrupts passing lanes (check). Can handle the ball as a secondary ball handler (check). Good help defense (check). Moves without the ball (check). Awesome hair.....okay he's lacking here.
  2. There is an existing stereotype but I'm not sure its relevant to this discussion. There's enough tape on Kev to know.
  3. No clue but if I had to guess, Huerter is going to be used at the default backup at the 2 and Cam is going to become a 3 permanently (or bigger depending on what his body finishes at). Cam is listed at 218 but could easily be 235 in 2 years.
  4. He's 22. Most people don't really develop their 3 point shot until that 25-27 range. Career 37.3% at 22 is elite. Harris is 29. His first 3 years in the league (22-24) he was right at 37%. 26 years old...boom 47% Kevin projects as a 42% guy in the next few years...but at 22...yah 36-38% is elite.
  5. I heard he was feeling a little lightheaded after the haircut.... (badum bump tsss).
  6. That was by far the most hotly contested draft I'd ever seen on any message board. Thread went like 250 pages, over 5000 posts.
  7. If you're gonna ask this question, you'll need some pretex. Active Cap $93,496,087 Predicted LT Threshold about $138,000,000 2021-22 Cap Holds Tony Snell 29 SG Bird $18,567,857 Louis Williams 34 SG Bird $15,200,000 John Collins 24 PF Restricted Bird $12,411,906 Brandon Goodwin 25 PG Restricted Early Bird $2,126,991 Solomon Hill 30 SF Non-Bird $1,669,178 Nathan Knight 24 PF Restricted Non-Bird $1,474,611 Skylar Mays 24 SG Restricted Non-Bird $1,474,611 So the first part of the game you need to play is who stays and for how much. Also, Dunn has a $5 million option that could come off the active cap.
  8. Yah its not a "knock" thing either. That draft was so top heavy, you weren't going to make a bad choice. Jackson is good, very good. Bagley is good and still learning. Luka is pretty damn impressive. But for a team, for winning, I liked what Trae had. It always works no matter how old the player. Using screens, eyes up, knowing where everyone is. It always works. At the end of the last NY game, Trae walked up every time looking intensely at what NY was doing defensively. There was only 3 minutes to go, we had the game won but Trae was still making sure every possession counted. That's infectious. When you PG cares, everyone cares. When your star cares, everyone cares. When your PG is your star, it matters even more.
  9. I can't objectively see Huerter remaining a Hawk long term. After his improvement this season and his showing in the playoffs, someone is going to throw $15 million at him just to see if he takes it.
  10. I want no part of Zion. No problem with his game, I just would never trust that much weight jumping that high, that often to not lead to foot, ankle, knee problems. The Falcons however could use him at Defensive End.
  11. Lemme try that. There were some intense discussions before that draft about who to go after. 4 players were hotly debated on this board with several ring leaders. NBASupes (Bagley) Me and a few others (Young) AHF and posse (Luka) KB21 (Jaren Jackson). there were 2 arguments presented on the Luka/Trae comparison that stuck out. Me - Luka is a Euro and will get beaten up in the NBA. Others - Trae's too small and his game won't translate to the physical game of the NBA. AHF and I were in direct opposition but much politer to each other than Supes/KB21. At the same time, there were fierce debates about spending our money to rebuild, not tank (something we eventually did by the way). One of the arguments I made was about the value of trading down for more assets. The Dallas pick wasn't thought to be a lottery pick the next year and didn't come with enough protection. That pick led to Cam. There was also disagreement about what role Luka would play in the modern NBA. We were ready to move on from Dennis Schröder who angered teammates, local law enforcement and was only popular with a select few. We needed a point guard to pair with Collins and of the 2, the consensus was Trae was better suited to be a point guard and lock up that position. That we ended up with Cam Reddish out of it is an unforeseen bonus. I still have doubts about Luka. He has a lot of miles on that body and can be lazy in the offseason (came into camp 10lbs overweight). Time will tell who made the right move, I'm just glad we didn't take Bagley or Jackson. Both are good players but neither of them is Trae Young.
  12. To be fair, that's always been Supes writing style. He always says way more than he has to, mainly because he's worked it over in his head so much that what he types doesn't seem like much in comparison. When you use 10,000 words to say "I'm hungry", you're going to confuse any chef.
  13. The strength thing wasn't really bulk but they wanted him to increase joint/ligament strength. It's part of the reason for the loose handles, jumper inconsistency. But it would naturally lead to him looking bigger as well.
  14. When I was in basic training, one of the drill sergeants went on a rant about 18 year olds vs the guys fresh out of college. I was sitting in the office doing my house mouse responsibilities (paperwork guy) and he remarked how he could tell I was older (23) at the time. Went crazy for a minute about the focus of the younger guys, etc. A moment of candor if you will. Always thought about that...A 19 year old and a 22 year old are not the same thing. The male brain doesn't even finish developing until around 25 (https://bigthink.com/mind-brain/adult-brain?rebelltitem=2#rebelltitem2). Its hard as a coach as we look at them like they're all men but they really aren't. The maturity difference between guys fresh off their freshman year and a 6 year vet is immense. Some guys need that firm hand, some just need to grow. Cam seemed to be one that just needs to get there on his own.
  15. I can vouch for some of this...but that's a lot of getting up in people's business I'm not comfortable with. The Cam thing is one of the better kept secrets in the league. When Cam gets back, do not be surprised if he looks bigger/more cut. One of the things they argued about was core strength. Weight training and building is just harder for some but the org has been on Cam to work on his body to take his athleticism and consistency to the next level. LP gave Cam tough love but Cam didn't respond well. Not a knock on either.
  16. InStreetClothes: Re: Embiid: He’s had a lateral meniscus tear in the opposite knee and needed surgery. The new tear, in the opposite knee, is described as small but the location of the tear is more important. 3 hours ago – via Twitter InStreetClothes Injuries, Joel Embiid, Philadelphia 76ers InStreetClothes: He could possibly play w/ the injury if the tear is on the periphery & doesn’t impact functional movement. But he will still have to manage the associated symptoms (pain, swelling) & there is some risk of worsening the tear. 3 hours ago – via Twitter InStreetClothes Injuries, Joel Embiid, Philadelphia 76ers
  17. I got off the couch to say....Dang things be chippy!
  18. Joel Embiid diagnosed with small meniscus tear Adrian Wojnarowski: Sixers center Joel Embiid has a small meniscus tear in his right knee and will be day-to-day, team says. He’s out for Game 5 tonight. 12 mins ago – via Twitter wojespn Top Rumors, Injuries, Joel Embiid, Philadelphia 76ers
  19. see my note on it...there was an inside jersey tug that caused the fall that led to the leg grab.
  20. That foot grab was a response to what had happened on a few plays previous and on that play Huerter goes down because Noel is moving on that screen (illegally) and has one hand on Kev's shoulder and one on the back. It's gentle but there is a tug on the front of the jersey at the shoulder and a hand on the back. As dirty plays go, it was pretty gentle but it was a dirty play. You see people move on the screen all the time when slipping and rolling but Noel keeps moving at Kevin trying to hip check/trip. Kevin just keeps chasing around it though so the drag down. The leg grab was in response. Happens quick so pause it, slow mo it and you'll see (settings gear in the bottom right of the youtube video, playback speed, drop it to .25). weird how much you can see when you slow it down to 1/4 speed.
  21. that would explain a great deal
  22. I just came from the Knicks RealGM board and man is it sad. 100+ page game day threads, now their game 5 thread is 5 pages. Someone brought up Clint's, uhm..."speech" from today. Their answer was, well, they've been backing it up. You're winning 3-1, you can talk that smack. He's right. Damn....defeated even in their forums.
  23. Stat of note, the 76ers are 10-11 when Embiid does not play this year. If Embiid can't go or is limited, it does not bode well for them.
  24. I'm not kidding, love him or hate him, Diesel threads start dialogue. and for the record, Diesel and I have bumped head a few times on the board, which is weird because we typically like/hate the same players.
