  1. Answering the original poster, https://hoopshype.com/rumor/1501576/ " 1 day ago – via Andres Waters @ FiveThirtyEight With so many capable scorers and shooters on the court (Atlanta is the only team in the NBA with nine players averaging 10 or more points per game), it makes sense that McMillan has worked to incorporate off-ball movement into the offense — and it has paid off. In order to help create more motion away from the ball, the Hawks added more off-ball screens to their offensive system. After ranking 28th in off-ball screens before the coaching change, the team’s back half of the season ranked 11th, according to Second Spectrum. Since March, the team has raised its shooting percentages in virtually every traditional and advanced statistical category. Analytics, Atlanta Hawks "
  2. If you zoom into the photo Nique shared, a white employee is opening the door for a black woman. I'm guessing it was staffing or dress code related. Means either management didn't explain why he was turned away or Nique didn't accept the answer.
  3. I tell people this all the time. I moved here from suburban Chicago, northwest Indiana...steel country. Things are worse there, I can assure you.
  4. You saw me on that board yesterday. I read through their last 20 pages or so of that thread. There is a stark difference here in the fan bases. Hawks fans mostly aren't worried, aren't talking bad about their own players, strategizing ways to stop Trae. There are people on that board who are 100% against Elfrid Payton guarding Trae, talking about hoping Hunter in on RJ instead of Randle...wondering who is going to guard BB. This board, we're just waiting for Sunday. Very little worry on this board, a lot of obvious concern on theirs. They still think their guys are gonna roll but their concerns expose they know they shouldn't be favored. The attitudes of the fan bases tell me everything I need to know. That said...there are a lot of them and they are active. Wish we had their numbers, enthusiasm.
  5. As we get closer to tipoff Sunday, I've been mulling the series around in my head. I'm feeling really good about Hawks in 6 but wouldn't be surprised by Hawks in 4 or 5....This is the healthiest we've seen this group together all year and Gallo in the playoffs is the x-factor to me. He's never been good in the playoffs but I think that's more to do with the teams he's been on and not the player. He's always been asked to do too much. This might be the first time Gallo isn't the primary or secondary focus on the floor. This will be the first time in a long time that Trae will have all 4 of Huerter, Gallo, Hunter and BB available for a full 48 minutes. The Hawks are going to be a nightmare defensive matchup for New York.
  6. So how do you like your crow...baked, slathered in BBQ sauce or deep fried?
  7. Where do you think they get their takes? Their writing staffs are on twitter, message boards (or chat rooms back in the day) guaging opinion, what pushes buttons.
  8. I've considered buying tickets for a bunch of us, getting us t-shirts that say "The NBA can fine me $25k too" and seeing if we can get on TV.
  9. and boom...3D chess pays off. Front page news trending on Yahoo now. https://www.yahoo.com/sports/nba-fines-hawks-coach-nate-mc-millan-for-saying-league-wants-knicks-in-playoffs-201115871.html
  10. Nate's playing a little 3d chess while other's are playing chutes and ladders. If you don't think Lou Williams isn't telling the young guys that Nate just took a $25,000 bullet for them, you don't know gamesmanship.
  11. Yup....100% believe it was purposeful and Nate's got $25k to spend on this like @Gray Mule has candles on his birthday cake. If Nate coaches them past the Knicks in the first round, he'll have his choice of coaching gigs in the offseason. This is why I always say, an NBA coach has got to be willing to take a tech, get fined. It puts a big ole target on the ref's back calling the game. I can't tell you the number of times I've seen a coach take a tech with his team down 10 and they come back to win.
  12. I'm not sure. James Dolan is really unpopular with the other owners/powers that be.
  13. Nate is doing the right thing but maybe not how anyone is thinking. Nate is already putting the NBA and their officials on notice about calling the game in NY's favor. He has planted the seed early and drawn attention to it before it ever happens (and without ever criticizing the officiating). Its genius! Any controversial calls and an attention seeking reporter can easily reference this early practice. There's a reason Nate said it out loud...he wanted attention drawn to it right away. Protecting his guys before he has to protect his guys.
  14. disclaimer, I just started a bit of light mining myself, so I've been learning more about crypto. Well a few weeks ago, the major cryptos went on stellar bull runs. Last few days...some have lost 1/2 or more of their value. Wondering if anyone else is into it, have any thoughts?
  15. Link to the BB bit from back in March...sorry you missed it. [quote] Teams are calling on Huerter and offering real value, but he is playing his way into a permanent role on this club and is very popular in the locker room. He could be packaged if we get a deal that knocks our socks off. The Hawks are trying to package Bruno to anyone who will listen and no one is listening. He may be included in a deal to bring back a big to backup CC.....but he has no value around the league right now. He is the only player we are actively shopping. and the final big nugget. The team is not sure it made the right decision on BB and will listen to offers for him in the offseason. If they can move BB, they will use that money to keep Collins (unless we get an offer we can't refuse). The team (and others) still think he's worth the money but a very bad fit. Of everything I'm posting here, this is the one I was told that I believe the most. Do not be surprised if you start hearing about this in the news. [quote]
  16. Yah....sorry but you're the jackass ( ). I posted a bit about it (not too much). But there was talk while he was on the mend that it was a mistake (based on his very bad early sample) and they were looking to feature him once he came back to garner some offers. But he scored only 39 points in his first 6 games back in March (post LP) and that quashed his value. The deadline was March 25 and 10 days before that they were listening to offers. He scored 65 points over the next 4 games leading up to the deadline and they rethought it, pulling him off the table. Big factors were his expression of being happier under Nate and them seeing that his early bad start was Covid related. Nate also was pro BB (so I've been told). At the time, his value was so low that we might have had to send draft considerations to move him or take on an overpriced vet.
  17. Bogi splits before Nate, after Nate. Pre Nate - 9.4 PPG and 34ish % from 3. Post Nate 18.7 ppg. April-May 22 ppg shooting 50% and 49+% from 3.
  18. Like I mentioned before, the organization was questioning the Bogi decision before LP got fired. Their chemistry was pretty bad.

Although they share the identical defensive rating at 111.6, that number is skewed a bit by Snell having a bigger block % and Kevin (as the chart shows) having more turnovers/opponents points scored off turnovers). As a primary ball handler, he is naturally going to have a higher turnover percentage than a guy who is 90% catch and shoot. DEF WS though show Kevin is the better defender. Most metrics show that he and BB are pretty equal in value...Bogi ahead but Kevin is much younger and still developing. I'll wager most will take 27 year old Kevin against this year's BB. He just isn't there yet.
  20. Opponents PER while at the SF Kevin 16.8 Snell 14.2 Though that doesn't really take into account the much smaller sample size on Snell, who was on the floor, etc I think the biggest affect here is that Kevin spends a lot of his on time on the floor as the other ball handler in lineups when Trae is out. By design, he doesn't share the floor with Trae for close to 1/2 of his minutes. With poorer offense comes poorer defense as missed shots, turnovers lead to fast break opportunities for the other team. There are things Snell does really well from a defensive perspective (like deny the ball) but if I had to take one or the other solely for defense its Kevin. He's really improved his body positioning and beating his man to the spot this year. I don't think he'll ever be great but he is showing the ability to be a + defender.
  21. That is one big bucket of wrong experts.
  22. Oh I would. At least 10 minutes per game.
  23. Things to keep in mind about the head to head matchup this season Jan 4th - Capela's 5th game as a Hawk was still getting his wind. No Gallo, No Snell, No LouWill (or Rondo), BB still recovering Feb 15th - No Hunter, no BB, no Snell, no Lou Will (or Rondo), no Reddish, OO just activated. Apr 21st - No Hunter, no Snell, no Gallo, no Reddish (Young, Capela both injured in the game, Young was recovering - only 9 played in an OT game). The Knicks have not faced the Hawks at full strength. They haven't even faced the Hawks at 80%. In no game have we had a full complement of sf/pf to throw at Randle nor PG play to make D-Rose play D full time.
