Atlanta Hawks (↑Previously 12th), 29-25, +1.5 net rating Weekly slate: Win over Pelicans, Loss to Grizzlies, Win over Bulls, Win at Hornets Good lineup: Trae Young | Kevin Huerter | Tony Snell | Danilo Gallinari | John Collins Stats: 127.0 offensive rating | 104.3 defensive rating | +22.7 net rating | 92 minutes played | 5th most used lineup Why it’s important: I’m shocked at how effective this lineup has been for the Hawks. It’s killing it defensively without Clint Capela, and we’re seeing the type of offensive firepower the Hawks hoped they were bringing in with guys like Danilo Gallinari. My guess is we probably won’t see too much of this lineup in the postseason, but it’s full of floor-spreaders and options for Trae Young to pass to. Bad lineup: Trae Young | Bogdan Bogdanovic | Tony Snell | John Collins | Clint Capela Stats: 120.9 offensive rating | 135.9 defensive rating | -15.0 net rating | 45 minutes played | 10th most used lineup Question that arises: Will the Hawks defend when it comes to the postseason? I’m also shocked at how abysmal this lineup has been for the Hawks. If the lineup above is so effective on defense, how is this one worse? This Hawks lineup has been brilliant offensively, which you would expect pairing Young with Bogdan Bogdanovic. But no lineup with Capela should struggle this dramatically on defense.
  2. It's like NBA survivor....last players standing.
  3. final record for the "winners" 39 wins = 10-8 40 = 11-7 41 = 12-6 42 = 13-5 43 = 14-4 Games left Home (12) - Mil, Ind, Orl, Mia, Mil, Chi, Por, Pho, Was, Was, Orl, Hou Away (7) - Tor, NY, Det, Phi, Phi, Ind, (Pho - makeup).
  4. Dunn will need 2 or 3 games to get a feel as well but knowing he'll be there for the last 10 games or so and the playoffs really makes me feel better about our chances.
  5. because we changed course as directed by the owner
  6. I wish I was as strong, young and verile as you. It must be backbreaking moving those goal posts all day. Right about the tank and right about Philly are not the same thing. Quit trying to lawyer everything. Tanking sucked! Love the young guys we got out of it, but they were losing nightly before the vets arrived and a certain coach started playing to their strengths.
  7. https://theathletic.com/2483787/2021/04/06/jazz-nuggets-and-suns-top-our-nba-power-rankings-are-the-blowouts-flooding-in/?source=freedailyemail 12. Atlanta Hawks (↑Previously 20th), 26-24, +1.7 net rating Weekly slate: Loss at Suns, Win at Spurs, Win at Pelicans, Win over Warriors How do the Atlanta Hawks deal with missing John Collins for a short time? Initially, this doesn’t appear to be a problem for the Hawks. The ankle issue has cost Collins the last three games, and the Hawks won all three of them. For the season, this has proven to be an issue. The Hawks are plus-5.8 points per 100 possessions when Collins shares the court with Trae Young this season. Remove Collins, and that number falls to minus-5.1 points per 100 possessions. Under Nate McMillan, we’re looking at a less severe drop — from plus-6.7 to plus-2.3. The good news for the Hawks during Collins’ absence (which will hopefully be just a week) is that Young is a much more efficient scorer when Collins isn’t on the floor, but the playmaking suffers a little. Why are they ranked here? Hiccup against the Suns to start the week, but the Hawks rebounded by beating three teams they absolutely have to beat if they want to be a consistently good team. Very good week for the Hawks.
  8. start here: Then maybe read here: Include a little bit of this: Stir gently and top it off with this: He was off by a year...its been 4 years and we had to pay out big bucks in F/A to get here. He wasn't wrong...not one bit.
  9. time for me to dust off the way back machine there was a series of KB21 leading the charge and me in quiet line stating tanking was not the way to go, but to flip cap space for vets other teams needed to dump that could still play. Myself and KB21 were advocating for the type of cap space use that was used on our acquisitions this year. We were never in line with tanking. You flip assets for high draft picks (like Boston), you do not purposely lose hoping your scouting department is smarter than everyone else. I'll find the posts.
  10. I'm not crazy enough to believe this young squad is going to win it all this year...but nobody and I mean nobody wants to play us for 7 games.

  12. I grew up listening to Harry Carry. Nique's an orator comparably.
  13. See this old article of when the Bulls fired Doug Collins after reaching the Eastern Conference finals and turned the reigns over to Phil Jackson. https://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/bulls/ct-chicago-bulls-doug-collins-firing-20200425-2ass2omhq5gmrpi5bh7bmmbnoi-story.html
  14. For those with short memories. Atlanta Hawks (2012–2014)[edit] On July 12, 2012, Williams signed with the Atlanta Hawks.[13] On January 18, 2013, against the Brooklyn Nets, Williams landed awkwardly on his right knee and had to leave the game on a wheelchair. It was later revealed that he tore his ACL and would miss the rest of the season. Williams missed the first few games of the 2013–14 season while recovering from his knee injury. He made his debut on November 20, 2013, scoring 6 points off the bench. On December 14, 2013, Williams scored a season high of 27 points. He finished the season with averages of 10.4 points, 3.5 assists, and 2.1 rebounds. Toronto Raptors (2014–2015)[edit] On June 30, 2014, Williams was traded, along with the draft rights to Lucas Nogueira, to the Toronto Raptors in exchange for John Salmons and 2015 second round pick.[14] On November 22, 2014, he scored a then career-high 36 points in the Raptors' 110-93 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers.[15] On April 20, 2015, Williams was named the 2015 NBA Sixth Man of the Year, becoming the first member of the Toronto Raptors to ever win the award.[16][17]
  15. Don't be 100% sure of that. They are considering waiving one of Goodwin, Bruno, Mays and signing a big.
  16. Rondo PER 2021 = 12.7 LWill PER 2021 = 17.1 Its a win, it just tastes bitter.
  17. Mixed feelings on Rondo leaving. He was one of my favorite players in his prime, a guy I loved to root against and wished he was ours. But tbh, he wasn't fitting well here when on the floor with anyone not named Gallo. Very mixed feelings. I feel we are better today than we were yesterday and I'm not super pumped about it. Happy for Rondo that he can go ring chasing again. Happy for Lou that this is a better situation for him. Just not how I hoped it would all pan out.
  18. Means the Hawks technically saved $250k in the deal off the cap number this year and $7.5 million next year. Nate Duncan: Of note, Clippers will lose $250k vs the hard cap in the Rondo/LouWill trade. Rondo’s cap number was $7.5m and Lou’s $8.0m, but his $750k in incentives count vs hard cap as well. 2 mins ago – via Twitter NateDuncanNBA Salaries, Trade, Louis Williams, Rajon Rondo, Atlanta Hawks, Los Angeles Clippers
  19. Dunn will be your backup in a week or 2.
  20. Yes or if he is waived, free up a roster spot to sign a big.
  21. In a 1 for 1 swap, these are the only names that work. Not 100% sure about Kennard. Serge Ibaka $ 9,258,000 $ 9,742,000 Lou Williams $ 8,000,000 Ivica Zubac $ 7,000,000 $ 7,518,518 $ 7,518,518 Luke Kennard $ 5,273,826
  22. And there is Wendell Carter Jr., 21 years old....and shipped out. This was exactly what I was talking about yesterday.
  23. Things will hop starting around noon.
