  1. Free agency period begins Nov 20....players can sign starting the 22nd..
  2. Given his production, he's worth a mid-level first at this point (or more if you believe he's healthy). He has length which I hear is hard to teach.
  3. Let me ask about this because I'd gladly take Bagley.
  4. https://www.yahoo.com/sports/players-react-deal-start-nba-125548064.html “The $109 million salary cap will cause a hit for the middle class a bit,” the agent told HoopsHype. “Clubs will try to put as many veterans as possible on the minimum or mid-level exception. Agents will try for short-term deals in order to play the market when the league is back on solid footing.” Translation - Atlanta can pick 2...players are in panic mode.
  5. Practical Cap Space is defined as the amount of salary space available if a team renounces all free agents, waives any players non guarantees and rejects all team options. Below are the teams with "Practical cap space". If questions about if that practical cap space is real or not. See the column active cap to see what they'll probably retain and subtract the difference from practical cap. It will help in determining if that team has real cap or not. Only Detroit, NO and Atlanta real players here. The Heat could get someone but they are short 6 players just like us. Signed Active Cap Dead Cap Practical Cap Space 1 Atlanta Hawks 9 $57,903,929 - $49,344,424 2 New York Knicks 13 $93,867,130 $6,431,667 $48,216,797 3 Detroit Pistons 8 $70,387,303 - $37,456,110 4 Sacramento Kings 9 $96,984,325 - $30,979,082 5 New Orleans Pelicans 9 $83,130,988 - $29,415,772 6 Charlotte Hornets 10 $80,967,576 - $28,380,697 7 Miami Heat 9 $77,878,760 $5,564,670 $24,532,742 8 Phoenix Suns 12 $93,746,406 - $20,606,718 9 Toronto Raptors 9 $88,155,460 - $19,423,623 10 Minnesota Timberwolves 11 $95,505,978 $685,340 $14,055,265 11 Portland Trail Blazers 10 $107,379,826 $4,757,775 $5,307,469 12 Washington Wizards 11 $103,004,971 - $4,708,080 13 Oklahoma City Thunder 12 $105,271,065 $1,736,267 $4,518,410 14 Chicago Bulls 12 $106,027,707 - $3,112,293 15 Denver Nuggets 10 $109,726,236 - $72,578 16 Dallas Mavericks 13 $110,873,876 - $3,398
  6. Currently, only the Atlanta Hawks, New York Knicks, Detroit Pistons, Miami Heat, Charlotte Hornets and Phoenix Suns have cap space heading into the offseason, which has some players antsy entering the market. “Don’t play the waiting game,” one player advised current free agents this offseason. “Take your offer and run with it. There isn’t going to be time to be debating and playing games.” – via Michael Scotto @ HoopsHype
  7. Looking like Nov 15/16 for transactions. Adrian Wojnarowski: Talks on opening the NBA’s transaction window — trades, contract opt-ins and outs, etc. — are progressing toward firming a date two or three days prior to the November 18 draft, sources tell ESPN. – via Twitter wojespn
  8. Yep...gotta have one quality big for when the guards are off.
  9. All bolded is confirmed!
  10. The teams where he has a chance to win at the highest level can only offer him the tax paying MLE (if its available to them) and that's about 6 mil. For Teague, he can get a bit more of that from us here and with lower taxes. He's not going to capitalize on marketing at his current play level so basically its a few less million for a shot at glory or a few more million with a defined role and people that like him. He's not going to be super high on people's spending list. He won't get 10 mil a year...we're probably the highest payers.
  11. We have a ridiculous amount of money to spend. I'm personally for picking Hayes at 6 if he's there. One player I'd really like to look at is Demarcus Cousins. I don't think he's going to command a salary equivalent to his skill set and I'd much rather Cousins get 20 minutes a game than Dedmon. Although there will be interest in Teague, there just isn't much money to spend right now. $6-$7 million per year (just have to be solidly above the Mid level exception for tax payers). I'd be okay with bringing back Taurean Prince if he'll accept a role behind Hunter. But I'm the most interested in finding a backup 4 who can hit a 3 at 37% or higher and one more wing behind the kids.
  12. I don't think that's the right question. Current roster - Starters TBD PG - Young/Goodwin (non-guaranteed) SG - Huerter/Reddish SF - Hunter PF - Collins/Fernando C - Capela/Dedmon 9 players total incoming - 1st pick 6th overall, heat's 2nd pick (likely stash player or traded). 11 players total RFA - Skal, Jones, Bembry, Brown FA - Teague, Carter only Skal and Teague are likely back. So at most out of this lot we have 13 players that will be rostered...maybe as few as 9. Let that sink in. If Goodwin is not retained, Skal not resigned and Jeff leaves...we could be bringing back as few as 8 + 1 draft pick. that's between 2 and 6 roster slots with between $40 and $50 million to spend (depending how it shakes out). Huerter doesn't stop us from going after anyone. Trae doesn't stop us from going after anyone. We need to fill 2 to 6 slots at an average of $20 million or as little as $9 million per player to spend. We can sign/trade for pretty much anyone.
  13. Well when you look at my post, I make a point to highlight a portion. That SA wants to move on from Aldridge is not news. That they want to trade up is not news. But when a national writer takes the time to insert things like "salary will be going out", that is a tell they are gauging public opinion, preparing the public that a player is leaving that team. Only 4 salaries are enough on that team to acquire Aldridge.
  14. Stay tuned! https://hoopshype.com/rumor/warriors-interested-in-lamarcus-aldridge/ 2 hours ago – via ESPN Zach Lowe: Someone within the League today texted me and said ‘hey, there is a little bit of buzz about No. 2 to San Antonio for LaMarcus Aldridge and No. 11, and obviously there has to be salary going out.’ And my response was ‘That’s crazy! The Warriors should not do that.’
  15. Can you quote the exact post he made?
  16. Of the above - teams have shown interest in Huerter (number 1 person inquired about), Fernando, Collins, Hunter, Reddish, Dedmon and Capela (in no specific order). Any deal involving Dedmon is a deal where we take back more salary than we send out and would involve positional upgrades. Nothing is imminent on Collins and people harping on that are barking up the wrong tree. Although its possible Collins could be moved, any move involving Collins would involve us getting back more than we give. His value because of his low salary, high output is almost impossible to quantify. There has been almost zero interest in listening to offers for Capela. Zero interest in trading Trae. Let me make a bit of this easy. If Teague is resigned, there is a very, very small chance Goodwin comes back. Depends on what we do in the draft. There is lots of interest in bringing back Skal. There is some interest in retaining Bembry if the price is right but the feeling is he'll be signed elsewhere. The lack of hearing about Graham is deafeningly quiet which I don't understand. Both the 6th pick, our 2021 1st, 2022 1st and the Thunders 2022 can be had in any above mentioned deal at the right price as well as any of our future 2nds. We won't give it all away but we would trade some for the right deal.
  17. Non Rookie contracts on the roster Capela Dedmon Current Rookie contracts (by length) Collins Young Huerter Reddish Hunter (Technically Fernando) (Technically Goodwin - non guaranteed) Rookie Contracts ended this year Labissiere Bembry Jones Non rookie FA Teague Graham
  18. Not a smokescreen. They 100% still don't know what they're doing at 1. If you are counting pure physical talent, there is no better prospect than Wiseman. All of his questions are motor and heart. Some of those were answered in interviews. If I was the Hawks right now and I could pick anyone on the board....It's Wiseman 1...period. He won't be there at 1 and there is no point in debating it but any team that passes on Wiseman will more than likely have to answer for it for years.
  19. Sound familiar. https://hoopshype.com/rumor/1406096/ " 6 mins ago – via Apple Podcasts Brian Windhorst: Definitely players, agents are communicating to teams what they want in contracts. And I’ve even heard of players who are extension eligible who could be traded, who have already communicated to teams that might trade for them, what their prices are for their extension. Free Agency, Trade" "Free agency talks already happening? Brian Windhorst: There’s as you know, as I’ve talked to executives, there is an incredible amount of chatter. contracts are essentially being quasi tendered. 6 mins ago – via Apple Podcasts"
  20. Thanks for this comment. This helped me understand what the board is thinking and why they are pressing Supes so hard on this. In years past, Atlanta was in the weaker position in trades and the ones having to compromise. That is not the situation now. Atlanta is in the driver's seat. They don't have to take any deal offered. They are the ones dictating to other teams who need to shed salary, fill holes acquire picks that are cheaper. Atlanta will not be getting taken advantage of. These things will be leaking to up the offers from other teams, set the market. This is not the end. There is a reason the 3rd team in that deal is hedging. It could easily be suggested they are getting screwed out of need. Atlanta will come out of this offseason with 2 more vets, 2 less players on rookie contracts than in the last 2 years if everything plays out as its been released. I have not been given the all clear to discuss what I've been told and mainly because its not "done". What I can say is there is a good bit of synergy in what Supes and I have both heard in the last month. More than in years past. We are not 100% in agreement but a good bit of what he's saying I've heard is on the table. I fully expect that a few teams will try to break up that 3 team deal before the dealing period goes live. It could morph to a 4 team or 2 and there are 2 teams who would really like to wait until draft night to pull any trigger. The top 3 is by no means set in this draft...There are no less than 8 players who could go in the top 3 and it depends on trades as much as anything.
  21. Its not a snt its an Extend and trade. Because the first year of the contract was already established, it doesn't affect the 1 year cost of the trade. Therefore it doesn't count the same as a sign and trade. The Extend and Trade is a protection for the player and not considered a mechanism that helps or hurts a team (even though it clearly helps a team that insists the player be locked in longer than a year.
  22. If I'm a senior member, MrH is a historical figure of significant importance. He is anything but insignificant.
  23. and just for poops and chuckles....I hate the TPE as a mechanism.
