  1. I'll tell you exactly who Mooney reminds me of. If any of you have ever lived up north, then you know pickup games at the YMCA are a real thing for 5 months. There is nothing else to do. And every so often, someone brings their kid brother who is a foot shorter than everyone else, runs his mouth constantly, is super slow but then plays defense like he's trying to read the washing labels on your clothes. He's all up inside of you driving you nuts all game. Hack/slash/body bump/ and a half hour later you're fighting his big brother because you bounced the ball off the kid's face. That's Mooney. Everyone on the court hates that kid, unless he's on your team.
  2. Bruno looked absolutely terrified to shoot the ball outside of 15 feet. Kid is going to have to get over that playing for CLP. At one point in the game he took a pass wide open at 18, stepped into 15 then kicked it out. I caught myself on the couch mumbling, "no shoot it". He's got grit and spit. I'll give him that. No quit in that guy. Not one ounce of healthy fear.
  3. He finished 16 points on 7 of 12 shooting, 8 boards, 3 blocks.....and was consistently late switching or guarding the lane.
  4. So one of the first plays of the second half he did that. And on queue he though he was facing a zone D and tried to split the zone. But no, it was a quick double team and he dribbled right into it. You could see his frustration when he turned it over. Didn't upset me one bit though. He was still asking for the ball on the next trip down and learned from it right away. I was however upset at seeing Adams shooting jumper after jumper short. He had 3 air balls in the game, 2 on 3's, one on a 5 footer. On defense he was making Trae Young look like George Gervin. It honestly looked like Adams was worse, not better than last year in summer league. Bright side for me was seeing Matt Mooney's effort. A very Matthew Dellavedova'esque effort on D. 5 steals and pesky the whole time. He isn't quick enough to play the point in the NBA and I wish him well but I just wanted to take a moment and say "thank you son, for your effort and grit". It made this game watchable.
  5. Pierce said I. The interview that Cam will play a bit at the point...interesting?
  6. Man Brunos frame though is 90% Dwight, 10% Garnett.
  7. Yah, I reneged my Omari support yesterday. I need to see one week of tritter posts seeing him eating salads for lunch before I bang the Omari drum again. Hawks down 12.
  8. But he and Hunter look the part physically.
  9. Oh we're getting it handed to us right now... shooting jitters. Looked good defensively until Bruno got embarrassed on a blow by. Thing I've been talking about. He was turned perfectly for a zone. Problem is he was suppose to be playing man.
  10. OMG that screen, slip, pass from Fernando. When he figures out NBA defense I am going to love that kid.
  11. I take back everything I ever said. Spellman still looks 30lbs overweight. Jeez kid, eat a salad.
  12. Okay that's one trade down...a few more to go.
  13. Minor point of order here. Everyone here has heard our "trades/signings" are official today. But that may not be true. The moratorium is lifted at 11:01 AM today. After that moment, the NBA starts processing deals in the order they were received, not the order they were they were announced. Once teams agree, they have to draw up official trade documents (contracts) to submit to the league. Some are more complicated than others and we only see the main details in news bits. But these are complicated. Once done, they are sent to the league office where they are placed in processing where they wait until today. They are processed ine at a time as the league must make sure you meet the current salary, roster and cba requirements for each. So the order they are processed matters. One in, one out. Could be a while before all of our official announcements and they may happen out of order on purpose. Then it will take a day or 2 for the cap sites to catch up. No freaking out!!!
  14. OKC moves dangerously close to being under the LT and didn't have to give up Adams or Westbrook to do it. I talked last week about how 1 of them had to go, just didn't think they'd maintain sanity in doing it.
  15. So the Thunder just saved 6.5 million they desperately needed to save for LT purposes and acquired 2 players (though Gallinari was vastly overpaid) and draft picks for Paul George. I know the Clipps had to get George to get Leonard but holy Moses did they just get fleeced by a team that had to dump him.
  16. We'll see. There is no problem giving him burn in the preseason to see if he can get back any of his pre-injury form. My vote is patience. We weren't going to play Plumlee/Hill anyway.
  17. Of course there will always be teams willing to be a third wheel in these deals to get an asset so the salaries don't even have to be exact.
  18. So there are your candidates (minus Dallas unless they resign their own). So Miami, OKC, Portland, Cleveland and Golden State. There are your potential suitors for 3 months of Parsons sitting on the end of their bench but sending us someone of value especially if things go like they are looking. Same song, different chorus...if for some crazy reason Parsons plays even close to 2013-14 form, then he'll be a player people would want at the deadline to complete their roster for a playoff push because he's only a 3 month rental and playing well. 1 Miami Heat 13 26.8 $147,098,365 $350,087 $151,088,652 $-14,821,452 $-41,948,652 2 Oklahoma City Thunder 12 25.9 $147,669,220 $999,200 $150,953,220 $-16,041,420 $-41,813,220 3 Dallas Mavericks 13 27.4 $108,178,108 $708,426 $145,774,556 $23,740,466 $-36,634,556 4 Portland Trail Blazers 13 25.3 $140,414,372 $5,091,109 $145,505,481 $-12,878,481 $-36,365,481 5 Cleveland Cavaliers 14 25.5 $145,387,442 - $145,387,442 $-12,760,442 $-36,247,442 6 Golden State Warriors 11 26.6 $140,591,339 - $142,556,099 $-7,964,339* $-33,416,099
  19. The same rules apply to the minimum team salary and the cap. It isn't what you are at in November, its what you are at when the league computes the numbers after the playoffs based on the value of your salaries, not based on actual pay dished out. Teams use this all the time to reach the team minimum, get back under the cap or to avoid the LT. See here: https://www.spotrac.com/nba/cap/ Basically, the only rule that needs to apply is the salaries need to be within 125% + 100,000. 20. Okay a quick lesson in LT. Your LT payment is based on your salary numbers based on contract totals at the end of the year, not on actual money spent on salary. So let's pretend it is February and a team has figured out they aren't going to make the playoffs but they are scheduled to be above the apron. They have one player on the roster making $31 million a year. At the trade deadline they offer that better player but who no longer fits their plans due to an up and coming youngster and that player is signed for this year and 2 more years. Its a good player but not in their plans and not worth 31 million / year. Maybe a $20 million / year worth player. That team would see a few months of Parson's contract as a way to get under the LT now and a way to get under the cap for 2 more years to come. So saving the 6 million in trading 1 for 1 or 1 for 2 they are capable of saving even more money now and much more later. These deals happen every year...I really don't understand the problem in seeing it.
