  1. A team looking.to drop salary at the end of the year.
  2. Where the hell did my head banging on wall avatar emoji go?
  3. Let me try explaining this again. The only benefit in cutting someone is in saving salary and creating a roster spot....if he A) mangled a knee and B) isn't able to play this year, then there is no benefit to cutting. He is placed on unable to perform and we can fill his roster spot, since no one will sign him and it would be NBASupes taking another avatar bet level stupid to stretch him at that point, there is no money savings to waive him. He just rehabs, stays away from the general team and gets high fives from a personal trainer.
  4. and honestly, his 2nd half has as much to do with Collins getting back, healthy and in shape as anything. Collins could make me look passable at the point.
  5. and honestly, hows about we let him get a few games under his belt, put on some weight and get a team around him before we start hammering on the kid.
  6. https://hoopshype.com/rumor/1269912/ FYI, Knicks making a strong play for VC, There isn't another really good option out there. to fill our last spots. We're too young as it is right now.
  7. Honestly, PER for and against is really the best measure of anyone for an entire season. Because everyone plays someone. If yout team shoots better, you get less rebounds but easier shot opportunities. If your team shoots poorly, you get more rebounds but smothered defensively. For a season, its really the best measure of value.
  8. Also, Cousins PER in New Orleans 26.2 and 21.1 against Last year Sacramento, 32.3 and 18.6 against. If you can get Boogie on a 1 + 1 for $12-$15 mil per you do it and don't look back. If I haven't told you I love you yet today, I'm sorry.
  9. A number or 2 for you to mull over while you drink your coffee. Cousins @ center. PER 26.2, against 23.5, net 2.7 Len @ center, PER 20.6, against 21.5, net -.9 Dedmon @ center, PER 19.6, against 23.9, net -4.2 Statistically speaking, Cousins is better defensively than Dedmon and blows our 2 guys away offensively....just sayin.
  10. You do realize that a buyout usually only saves a minimum amount of money. Player makes $25 million. Knows he can get a partial MLE elsewhere and play. Hawks Buy him out for $21 million. He signs for $4 million elsewhere. Hawks save $4 million off cap (its more complicated than that, math is a bit wonky but you get the idea). We would only do it if we need that $4 million to sign someone else. The player gets the difference. There is no financial incentive for the player to take the buyout, only playing time. In the above scenario, the player still gets $25 million. Player needs to know from another team his situation improves on the court. No other reason to do so. Only way it "saves" the Hawks more. Buyout and stretch. Stretch salary for lets say 2 years. Buyout $25, signs for 4 million elsewhere. Hawks on hook for $21 million. Hawks stretch like this $15 million this year, 3 million next and 3 million the next. Hawks save $10 million this year giving them $24 million total to spend in free agency. Okay so imagine there are $24 million in players we want this year and it would help us contend for a playoff spot, top 4 seed, something.....sure we'd do it. But also realize our salary cap is effectively $3 million lower the next 3 years so we are hamstringing ourselves. I don't see where "your friend's" insider knowledge makes a bit of sense. Waiving all this year is a minimal savings an only really serves to create another roster spot which would also absorb the salary saved by resigning a vet into that space...a deal we could have just as easily done by waiving the 2 players ourselves with no trade.
  11. If he shows he is healthy, someone will want him as a rental at the deadline or will take him in a salary dump for next f/a.
  12. Chris Kirschner says there is zero interest from the Hawks in signing Cousins. This I do not understand. Why not offer him a 1+1 mutual deal?
  13. As of right now, based on final roster. Out - Dedmon, Plumlee, Bazemore, Anderson, Carter, Prince, Davis In - Hunter, Reddish, Fernando, Parsons, Crabbe, Turner, 14 million in space. Last 22 games we were 10-12. Look at the changes and add 2 players for 14 million. Assume improvements from our young players. Are we better or worse than we ended the season?
  14. Why he got the contract from Memphis.
  15. https://thebasketballnetwork.com/chandler-parsons-injury-history/ Crabbe isn't better than Parsons....Parsons just can't stay on the court.
  16. Also, to answer the question. Parsons has had 2 poor seasons but injuries. When healthy he is still useful. Not 25 million useful, but useful. Plumlee and Hill are bums and net negative players at this point.
  17. So that's 2 deals now to clear up 1.2 million in salary. Get ready, something is coming.
  18. Whiteside going to Portland, that's how they're swinging it. https://sports.yahoo.com/report-miami-heat-trade-hassan-whiteside-to-the-portland-trail-blazers-164531258.html
  19. Looks like Miami is going to waive and stretch Ryan Anderson to make this work which means they'll be cap hell for 3 more years. Very, very bad move if they are not contenders and they are not.
  20. Sorry sir, may I have another?
  21. Wait, when did I get off probation?
  22. They were dead last by 4 points 29 games in. They were 13 points negative 29 games in....only 6 to end the season....use some context.
  23. If you are a culture-aholic like I am its great. The first 5 minutes is always an intro to something about some culture's belief system. Mad Sweeney was an amazing character concept from the beginning. The "A Prayer for Mad Sweeney" episode was pretty awesome as it touched on many topics many people don't know....like the change in culture in the Celtic lands from when the Norse and then French/English influences came in to how the Irish and Scottish were bound into "indentured servitude" for 7 years but it became permanent the second they crossed the big pond to especially the story of Mr. Nancy (Anansi) which is lost culture post slavery and maybe the biggest travesty of that time with former slaves having lost their original culture. The parts I love of the show is how true to history they remain while pounding a fantasy novel/show. They don't get into commercialized history but actual history. The real name of Thor (Donar Odinson) to the worship of Bilquis (multiple versions of this in history) and even the real story of the Djinn. So mixed with a heavy dose of mysticism, blood, sex and violence is the concept of what happens to Gods who people stop worshiping and how do they reclaim that worship. It's pretty deep and I highly recommended it for the more mature and educated audience. Otherwise 1/2 of it might go over the average viewers head. Side Note, the guy who plays Shadow Moon is pretty awesome and would have been a great avengers casting had he been so inclined. I really like Shadow and Mad Sweeney. Mad Sweeney being my favorite character by far (and most people's as well).
