  1. So in the top right corner of the screen...there is an X. When you get to content you don't like, just click it. Takes care of it for you.
  2. Except all the hype on draft night was on Marvin (despite being an unproven bench player), not the PG's. Doncic has all the hype without being proven. 5 on 1 fight at a Hookah Club...just sayin!
  3. You've been dead on in over 1/2 of your predictions but I think you might consider this a buy in ante bet and not a cards face down ante bet. Without knowing how A) the contracts of Baze and Plumlee shake out by the offseason next year (potential 31 million in moving capital), B) if the Hawks move any of their young wings in this offseason, C) if the Hawks move Dedmon and commit to Len (ie..how Len plays out), D) where they spend that original 34 million? Think of it like this. Next year's cap is estimated to be $108 million. The contracts of Plumlee, Baze, Bembry =$34 million next year. another $34 million is available via free agency. The Hawks have about $15 million in potential draft picks tied up as well (using my calculations). $83 million of the cap for next year is unsettled out of $108 million. 76.8% of next year's cap is unsettled.....ie you don't know what 76.8% of next year's roster is. I think its insanity to think you can prognosticate without 77% of the facts. Now you may be right and again, you and I are both on record as being anti-tank. But that isn't what they seem set up for next year. The Hawks look solidly in the rebuild mode for next season (hence the ridiculous amount of moving parts/capital). You might want to rethink your position here. Other wild cards to consider: Bembry, Dorsey, Anderson. There is a dogfight shaping up for minutes between these 3. Bembry has consistent shown NBA ability (even starter ability) in every aspect of his game except for shooting outside 10 feet. Bembry (IMHO) is a Baze like player and has the athleticism to be better. I am thinking the time off may have done his some good. If you could combine Anderson and Dorsey, you might have an allstar. What Dorsey lacks defensively, Anderson lacks offensively. It stands to reason that "one" of these players will step up and improve at the other end. All you need is one of these to improve their limitations and it is on. Again, they lost 24 games last year by 5 or less possessions and again (IMHO), Dennis is addition by subtraction here. They were not as bad as we thought and it is a matter of work ethic to whether or not they improve.
  4. Thibs might be the best defensive coach in basketball (while simultaneously being an offensive train wreck).
  5. Okay so in your opinion, we don't make the playoffs this year or next? I already broke down the cap issue with the team next year assuming 3 top 15 picks. After this year, Young, Collins, Prince, Spellman will all be on the roster and a year older and assuming we get 3 1st rounders next year, we will still have $34 million to spend after the dust settles. So is it your contention that there is no way next year's team makes the playoffs? This is a given and includes you don't think this year's team makes the playoffs either.
  6. define good....playoffs...top 4 seed...50 wins? Lets start with your definition of good.
  7. Rookie of the year is determined first and foremost by opportunity. 1/2 of the people in their top 6 will be only getting spot minutes.
  8. Mark the tape...I want to see how this prognostication turns out in 2 years.
  9. and FYI, I don't necessarily agree with their assessments (Tatum 1st over Mitchell is silly) which just furthers the point. Even after 1 year, there is no consensus.
  10. https://nesn.com/2018/08/2017-nba-re-draft-how-would-loaded-class-shake-out-one-year-later/ Another look at why tanking to draft 1st is a crap shoot (or why the media screaming Doncic is premature). Redrafting last year's class based on rookie performance. Reasons listed in article. 1. Philadelphia 76ers: Jayson Tatum, SF (Markelle Fultz, PG) 2. Los Angeles Lakers: Donovan Mitchell, SG (Lonzo Ball, PG) 3. Boston Celtics: Josh Jackson, SF (Jayson Tatum, SF) 4. Phoenix Suns: Markelle Fultz, PG (Josh Jackson, SF) 5. Sacramento Kings: Lonzo Ball, PG (De’Aaron Fox, PG) 6. Orlando Magic: Dennis Smith Jr., PG (Jonathan Isaac, PF) 7. Chicago Bulls (via Minnesota): Lauri Markkanen, PF (Lauri Markkanen, PF) 8. 11. Let me think on that.....that's a strong argument..that's a strong argument.
  12. I've never bought an actual NBA property jersey. I might just do so here though for the irony.
  13. Guy has a point. Might be greatest Hawk of all time. Never missed a shot, free throw or committed a foul. Never got into legal trouble, tossed from a game or posted a playoff loss. Have to think about this.

  15. So my oldest son and his wife are cable-less. But discussing it one day he lamented all the things he was missing sports wise. They got everything via an internet tv plan. Gave me the idea to get him a 50 mile digital receiver and he said that filled in gaps locally and helped but he still hates missing the occasional game of the week and such.
  16. Occasionally you guys really surprise me with your NBA knowledge and history. I didn't realize most of this about Billups and learned something.
  17. Just for kicks....he was signed for 1.567 million year one and 1.9 million year 2. He'll make $100k less than Bembry this year and 300k more than Daniel Hamilton. I'm thinking it was a very low risk signing we could/should have looked at.
  18. As I stated before, I expected him to go late lottery. A shooter with good handles is hard to find. But a shooter with good handles who can attack the basket changes everything. He just needs to add a little weight and gain confidence.
  19. 24 wins is not bottomed out. It sucks but we went through bottomed before. This was just bad. KB, you really need to stop beating the tank horse at this point. You can't go back and change it, so best to try and be a positive voice to fix it moving forward.
  20. Maybe the hardest thing to swallow is 27.8 million spent on players not on the roster (27.5% of the cap). This is where the majority of the cap room comes next year. Because we "should" have 3 1st round picks next year, you can remove 3 players from the roster who won't be resigned next year. Also, 3 others will either be replaced or resigned to "bigger deals". Players currently slated to be on the roster next year. Bazemore - Player Option Plumlee - 1 year remaining Trae Young - Rookie deal Alex Len - 1 year remaining Taurean Prince - 1 year remaining rookie deal John Collins - 2 years remaining rookie deal Kevin Huerter - Rookie deal Deandre Bembry - 1 year remaining Omari Spellman - Rookie deal 3 incoming 1st round picks -------------- Total 12 slots Next year free agents Jeremy Lin Dewayne Dedmon Justin Anderson Vince Carter Tyler Dorsey Daniel Hamilton Okay so look at the "potential free agents" and 3 of those are going away for sure. Most probably Vince, Hamilton, Dedmon. The other 3 are a balance of useful vs the $34 million ish that will be available (more for each pick that doesn't transfer). Lin, Anderson, Dorsey. Of course all of that is null and void if Plumlee/Baze find new homes.
  21. See below. Approximate Len signing should be year 1. $4,292,682, year 2. $4,507,317. Charges are approximate on Anthony, Len as those exact/official 1st year numbers weren't broken down anywhere...only totals. Apologies to those who won't see it well on phones. Kent Bazemore $ 18,089,887 Jeremy Lin $ 12,516,746 Miles Plumlee $ 12,500,000 Dewayne Dedmon $ 7,200,000 Trae Young $ 5,356,320 Alex Len $ 4,292,682 Taurean Prince $ 2,526,840 Justin Anderson $ 2,516,048 Vince carter $ 2,393,887 John Collins $ 2,299,080 Kevin Huerter $ 2,250,960 DeAndre Bembry $ 1,634,640 Omari Spellman $ 1,620,600 Tyler Dorsey $ 1,378,242 Daniel Hamilton $ 1,349,383 Players Not On Roster Carmelo Anthony $ 25,528,140 Jamal Crawford $ 2,304,226 Totals $ 101,869,000 Tax: $ 123,733,000 Total Salary: $ 105,757,681 Cap Room: $-3,888,681 Luxury Tax Room: $ 17,975,319
  22. I did the math yesterday in another thread. The Len deal puts us 3.9 mil (plus change) over the cap. He was signed via the non-tax payer MLE. Prior to signing Vince and Hamilton, we had approximately 4.175 million after the Carmelo buyout. Hamilton $1,349,383 Carter $2.4 million The deals were done in the order they were so that Carter could sign for the room created by Melo instead of the 10 year vet minimum. This was a head nod to Carter, so he wouldn't be signed for "the minimum". You see, if signed to 1 year, it would be less but a 2 year deal on a 10 year vet minimum would start at 2.393 million. So they signed him for 1 year 2.4 million. This is why the Carmelo deal was discounted 2.4 million. It's the amount Carmelo would sign for elsewhere and what it took to sign Carter. They did this so the math was an easy wash. So add Hamilton and Carter to our cap space and we were left with $400k in cap space. Needed to use the MLE to sign Len. This means we thought highly of him to use the MLE.

Neither suck but Plumlee is only a spot player. Len is "better coaching and system" away from being a starter.

Yes but he can't guard on the perimeter. He's too bulky stiff. Advantages inside, disadvantages outside. Good but not perfect.
