  1. Trae 7 of 7 from the Free Throw line tonight. A pg who can get a player on the hip and draw the bump is magic.
  2. You're thinking of 33 year old Karl Malone, not 20 year old college player Karl Malone
  3. Mike Muscala per 36 last year. 46% shooting, 13.8 points, 7.8 reb, .9 blocks, 1.7 assists. If we can pay Muscala $5 million a year, We can sure as hell pay Okafor.
  4. He didn't blow the layup, the defender tipped the ball right as it passed the edge of the cylinder. changed the shot just slightly...hard to see on the live feed but rewind it...you'll see it.
  5. That dude is the very definition of a big white stiff.
  6. Okay so the minimum is by the end of the season and its based on your final roster...not salary paid. The penalty is you pay the difference between the team salary and the minimum. The minimum is 90% of the salary cap so the minimum is 101.9m x.9 =91.71 million. Our current salary (minus holds) = 80.4 million. The penalty is redistributed to your roster based on the Percentage of team salary they hold. So there is absolutely no reason not to hit the minimum because you will pay it regardless. Spend 80 million but pay 91.71 million....Spend 91 million, but pay 91.71 million. Spending less = poorer roster.
  7. For anyone who DVR'd the game. Go to the 7:15 mark in the 2nd quarter and see the beautiful drive and leave Trae makes for Landale...and then watch Trae's body language as the pass goes right through Landale's hands, off his dome and rolls down his back.
  8. Jahlil Okafor career per 36 numbers. 19.8 pts, 8.2 reb, 1.5 blks, 1.6 assists shooting 51.5%. Those are rookie contract numbers, first 3 seasons. Again, who are you going to bring in that produces more? Is he lazy....yep....is he a bit immature...yep.....But think about this.... A stud with a poor attitude can get better, but a scrub with the best attitude is still a scrub.
  9. 22...he is 22. People here want to be patient with Dennis who is 24...Okafor is 22. Who are you going to bring in that's better?
  10. The drafting of Heurter was the end for Jaylen Morris. Kaba will not be coming. We need to spend 12 million more to get over the league minimum. We will be signing 2 vets (probably).
  11. Yes...because he is better than pretty much everyone left (that would sign here). Give him a Moose like deal with 1+team option and go from there.
  12. Search engines are really cool things. You can find all sorts of great information. They did not trade Allen for 5 and even if that's all they did, they wouldn't have been able to do so if they hadn't cleared the cap room for a fast rebuild. To try and make this sound like they built through the draft is assanine. They traded all their future assets for 4 players. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ray_Allen#Boston_Celtics_(2007–2012)
  13. I need someone to make a bet with me where I get a Dorito Locos Taco whether I win or lose.
  14. Consider this: Trae is currently playing against guys who get 10 fouls, are diving at legs, undercutting dunkers (seriously, WTF was that portland player thinking on the Collins dunk), while playing with the likes of Kaba, Landale, Adams and Jaylen Morris (who has been terrible in summer league). When he's leaving the ball for Prince, Bembry, Baze, Dedmon and even Moose, his assist numbers are going to skyrocket. Summer league has been painful to watch...not just because of the out of control foul fests...but the missed wide open jumpers have hurt my soul.
  15. You get my extra special, booty shaking, finger waving, duck-faced high 5 "like". Those are special, pin it to your fridge.
  16. Actually they traded a slew of players for essentially Theo Ratliff and then in 2007 traded 2 players and 2 picks for Ray Allen. What they did was get themselves in a terrible cap situation in 2005 and instead of tanking for 5 years (see KB21 for a thorough explanation on why this is stupid), they were cap dumping for only 2 years and created gagillions of cap space for Garnett, Allen. If we were the Celtics and we aren't, we would have used our picks this year to flip Plumlee, Schröder, Baze and our cap space for $60 million in free agent assets. We would then would all pile on as fans as if those rental stars were ours all along, win for 3-4 years and then rebuild again in 2024. That's a far cry from drafting Collins, Dorsey, lose a lot, lose your coach, draft 3 rookies who will all be good some day, lose a lot but damn we got a pretty arena....draft a few more rookies next year...but lose Baze in free agency, trade Dennis for cap space.....lose just a bit less....draft some more rooks....pick up year 4 on our first crop of rooks.....get a bit better....pray no one gets injured, match Collins RFA max contract some jackwagon team offered it....cry because someone gets injured....draft some rooks...lose one of our 2nd batch of rooks to free agency because we can't afford to resign all 3....put up posters and signs because we made the playoffs again...get comfortable as the 4th-6th seed for 3-5 years. Of course that could all be wrong. We could get lucky and the rooks outplay their contracts and a big time vet wants to come here on a cheap contract to ring chase....ya....that could happen.
  17. It took John Stockton 4 seasons to average 10 points per game. On a side note, Stockton also shot a lethal 51.5% for his career as a PG. In that 4th NBA season he shot 57.4%. In his first 5 seasons in the NBA he only shot over 30% from 3 once....season 4 he shot 35.8%. First 5 years he shot; 18.2, 13.3, 17.9, 35.8 and 24.2% from 3. He finished his career a 38.4% 3 point shooter.
  18. That said, They had 2 years of that nonsense and said "F this" and "acquired" Garnett and Allen. IE...they figured out real quick that tanking isn't all its cracked up to be. IE...culture of winning...the fans wouldn't stand for it.
  19. Uhm...Boston tanked before. 05-06 and 06-07 were tank years for Boston (on purpose and everything). Nothing like starting the great Raef LaFrentz 63 games. http://www.espn.com/blog/truehoop/post/_/id/40780/when-tankers-tell-the-truth
  20. So something that must be said. Referees let them play in summer league, they have to. You could call 3 times as many fouls and 5 flagrants if you really wanted to. Summer league is for judging athleticism, instincts, mechanics. It isn't NBA type basketball. Its why Trae + Collins is so good and everyone else is so bad. They are executing NBA like offense. Dorsey is demonstrating NBA level iso. Everyone else is a college player.
  21. I cringe in summer league. There are always 2 or 3 people at a time on the floor playing out of control, diving at legs, etc. Problem with having A talent on the floor with D talent. People get hurt.
  22. I think everyone (both sides) are missing the all important stat....12 free throw attempts. When I was originally hammering for Trae on the draft thread, I mentioned 2 things....his court vision is off the charts and his body control going to the basket puts players on his hip and he draws fouls. Most importantly, the type of fouls he draws are body bumps, not crash to the floor, wrist hammering, career ending fouls. He just gets people out of position and makes the possession matter. With other "shoot first PGs", they go so hard to the basket, the plays are super dangerous, ankle busting, flying into the camera man plays. The either miss or make the shot and a 4 for 12 shooting night = 9 points. But Trae drew 6 shooting fouls. 21 points on 12 shots, 17 possessions. No wasted possessions. This foul drawing cannot be understated. Getting to the line is the epitome of game control. It is how you control everything on the floor. Every time you draw a foul and shoot at the line, you are stopping play and stopping potential transition. This is my biggest problem with the long 3's (and 3's in general). 3's miss 65% of the time. That is 65 chances out of a 100 for long rebounds and transition offense for the other team. But getting to the line is the great equalizer. Its points, where points were lost and its a transition stop without ever having to run the floor. Give him time and the whole team will eventually adjust. Trae's style of play doesn't just mean more foul shots for him, it means more foul shots for everyone. If Collins hits his 4 missed FT's yesterday, that was a win.
  23. Dwayne Dedmon has got to be seeing this and thinking "I'm averaging a double double this year".
