  1. He's the same height as Mike Bibby, 2 inches taller than Chris Paul and 1 inch taller than Dennis Schröder. I'm sure you have reasons for your opinions. The kid is 19. I'm thinking he'll A) gain weight and grow a bit still and B) the coaching staff will beat defense into him. I mean really. Do we honestly think he's a finished product at 19? When the Hawks drafted Dennis, he was a 19 year old Euro as well. His first year in the league, Dennis scored a whopping 3.7 points and 1.9 assists per game. Schröder's 18 year old Euro stats 25 minutes per game, 12 points, 3.2 assists, 2.5 rebounds Doncic 18 year old Euro stats - 25 minutes per game, 14.5 points, 4.6 assists, 5.2 rebounds. I want you to think about this really hard when stating he "played against grown men". Doncic's 18 year old numbers are 2.5 points, 1.4 assists and 2.7 rebounds better than Dennis. Dennis' great Euro play translated to 3.7 points per game and 1.9 assists his first season in the NBA. Go ahead...throw out some more crazy opinions on Trae backed up with nothing. Those same "kids" you're talking about. John Collins was one of those kids who came in at 19 and put up 10.5 and 7.3 his first year in the NBA. Donovan Mitchell, 20.5, 3.7, 3.7. I'll take a college kid putting up 27 and 9 on a bad college team over a hyped up Euro any day. Doncic might turn out to be the 2nd coming of Bird, but I need to see him do it here. Not in a league where Sergio Rodriguez was just behind him in scoring....yes, NBA player Sergio Rodriguez whose best NBA season was 7.4 and 3.4 before he washed out put up 14 points and 4.9 assists in the same Euro league this year, identical numbers to Luka Doncic. Yah, give me the short stack.
  2. http://www.euroleague.net/main/statistics?mode=Leaders&entity=Players&seasonmode=Single&seasoncode=E2017&cat=Score&agg=Accumulated Here, look at the points leaders in Euroleague. 2 quarters to anyone who recognizes more than 3 names in the top 20.
  3. Do not fall in love with highlights and draft hype. Doncic averaged 14.5 ppg last season while shooting 30.9% from 3. Yes...30.9%. He only played 25 mpg. He is athletically limited, a defensive liability, won't be able to consistently get his own shot in the NBA and is a below average 3 point shooter.
  4. For all of those hating this trade. I've been on the Trae Young bandwagon for some time. I'm on this board as saying he is who I wanted all along. The hype with Doncic is all that right now...it is hype. Here, take a look at his weaknesses as listed by nbadraft.net http://www.nbadraft.net/players/luka-doncic
  5. https://ftw.usatoday.com/2018/06/trae-young-nba-draft Poor Trae...nothing like reading your own weaknesses.

  7. http://www.nba.com/draft/2018/prospects/kevin_huerter#/ He is an average defender. Better team defender than individual.
  8. The next step being finding good fits, future assets for Dennis and Baze. There is some truth though that holding on to both until the trade deadline could up their value.
  9. Wow....conflicted. I really wanted to see aggressive movement to get a second lottery pick. If not for Orlando taking him, 5 is a bit early for Trae but he is a solid pick who will play in the NBA a long time. Huerter @ 19 is excellent value. We can wait on the hand to heal. Spellman @ 30 is very good value. Overall a B....though I really would have liked to see more movement.
  10. It's what Dennis was last year. I mean really....Dennis was an incredible ball hog, struggled to see the open man and cost 10 million more per year. and Trae is already better at shooting the 3.
  11. If Dennis is traded and Trae starts, 15/8 is a very reasonable projection for him next year.
  12. He makes others better. You really should be excited about a better Prince, Collins. When Dennis was out to end the year, see how much better Prince was. That is reason for the pick.
  13. If Dallas is better than the 5 worst next year (ie...doesn't land the top 5 pick...1 through 5), the pick conveys to Atlanta. So pretend Dallas ends up with the 8th pick next year...it is ours.
  14. Because buy low, sell high. If everyone wants him, you can get a similar player at 4, 5, 6 but get a future 1st pick to make it all work. If everyone wants it....bidding wars the only winner is the seller.
  15. Well, lets look at what Supes actually said mixed in with the emotion OMGs. Atlanta gives up Dennis - $15.5 Dedmon - $7.2 19/30 So the base cap number coming in is $22.7 million. The Bulls are $13.9 million over the cap with holds, $9.2 million under the cap if they renounce their free agents. After renouncing their free agents, the Hawks are $19 million under. So as long as the Hawks don't take back $41 million in salary and the Bulls send out at least $14 million in salary, this deal works under the cap. Now we know Asik is a part of any deal. ($11.3 million) The Bulls need to include $2.7 million or more in salary for this deal to work. The player coming back would have to be a PG or Center to make room for Dennis and Dedmon. Available players are Vonleh, Dunn or Felicio at this salary. My bet is Vonleh and the deal works with the CBA. Dennis/Dedmon/19/30 for Asik/Vonleh/#7. This sounds like a sound rumor.
  16. Reports they were taking Doncic might have been a smoke screen. 5 teams calling to try and trade for the pick. Orlando, Chicago, Dallas, Knicks, Clippers. We know the basis for the Clips offer. Orlando offering #6 + future 1st. I'm sure Chicago's offer is #7 and #22 (discussed yesterday). Knicks offer will be complicated. We shall see. https://www.peachtreehoops.com/2018/6/20/17486868/nba-draft-2018-atlanta-hawks-trade-rumors-number-three-pick-luka-doncic-orlando-magic-first-round
  17. Opting in before the draft could mean only 1 thing....they want to trade him and he agreed to the location.
  18. I'm not sure you know what happened to that team this year. Love missed 23 games, Thompson missed 30. The constant moving parts from the failed Isaiah Thomas, Jae Crowder experiment. Their non-Lebron core of George Hill, Kevin Love, Kyle Korver, Tristan Thompson, Jeff Green, J.R. Smith, Jordan Clarkson is more than good enough to win 30 games and avoid the top 10 picks (which is where they'd need to be to convey that pick).
  19. As currently constructed, no Lebron....they are still a top 20 team and would avoid the lottery.
  20. There is always the luck factor. Like the San Antonio falling into Tim Duncan or Chicago doing their due diligence with Pippin and Grant.
  21. that would be the scout, scout, scout part. Manu Ginobilli - 57th pick Tony Parker - 28th pick Luis Scola - 55th pick Leandro Barbosa - 28th pick Tiago Splitter - 28th pick Goran Dragic 45th pick George Hill 26th pick Lottery picks since 1998 - 0 1997 - they drafted Tim Duncan #1 overall...because David Robinson missed 76 games due to injuries, Chuck Person missed the entire year with back issues and the team lost over 300 player games total to injury. You have to go back to 1987, 1988, 1989 to see them in the lottery. Their lowest pick during this time other than their 4 total lottery appearances in 30 years...18. Yes, this team managed to draft lower than 18 only 4 times in 30 years but have been perennial contenders. Scout, scout, scout. buy low, sell high.
  22. buy low, sell high, scout, scout, scout....San Antonio formula since before man discovered fire.
