  1. Collins is not today = Sap. I believe one day he'll be better but he is a 20 year old rookie. He needs minutes and work on his body. 82 games is a grind.
  2. We lost Sap, Howard, Hardaway. Gained role players.
  3. I believe this qualifies for a permaban but at least a 7 day posting suspension. Boy are you lucky I'm not a mod.
  4. Remember he is just 24 and is comfortable coming off the bench as a 6th man. He is a finisher who draws fouls and gets to the rim. He does dirty work. I'm thinking they think he is a perfect candidate for HawksU
  5. This is their proposed depth chart though Prince is technically ahead of Bembry at the 3. Depth Chart: PG: Dennis Schröder, Malcolm DelaneySG: Kent Bazemore, Marco Belinelli, Tyler DorseySF: DeAndre’ Bembry, Taurean PrincePF: Ersan Ilyasova, Mike Muscala, John CollinsC: Dewayne Dedmon, Miles Plumlee, Diamond Stone
  6. So they effectively have just under $7million to spend and are over the team minimum.
  7. Okay, we have a complete breakdown out there. http://www.basketballinsiders.com/atlanta-hawks-team-salary/ Name 2017-18 2018-19 2019-20 2020-21 2021-22 Kent Bazemore $16,910,113 $18,089,887 $19,269,662 Dennis Schröder $15,500,000 $15,500,000 $15,500,000 $15,500,000 Miles Plumlee $12,500,000 $12,500,000 $12,500,000 Jamal Crawford (waived) $10,942,762 $2,304,226 Dewayne Dedmon (estimate) $6,800,000 $7,140,000 Marco Belinelli $6,606,060 Ersan Ilyasova (estimate) $6,000,000 Mike Muscala (estimate) $5,000,000 $5,000,000 Malcolm Delaney $2,500,000 $3,125,000 Taurean Prince $2,422,560 $2,526,840 $3,481,986 $4,791,212 John Collins $1,936,920 $2,299,080 $2,686,560 $4,137,302 $5,899,793 Mike Dunleavy (waived) $1,662,500 DeAndre' Bembry $1,567,200 $1,634,640 $2,603,982 $3,752,337 Diamond Stone $1,312,611 $1,744,951 Tyler Dorsey $815,615 $1,378,242 $1,818,520 Guaranteed Total: $92,476,341 $64,211,435 $28,000,000 $15,500,000 Inclusive Total: $92,476,341 $73,242,866 $57,860,710 $28,180,851 $5,899,793
  8. Biggest Dwight supporter on the board, but he wasn't here long enough to be due that. Those nights are reserved for people who accomplish something special with the franchise. Josh meant much more to the Hawks than Dwight for example.....as did Kyle (his streak).
  9. Well, Crawford's buyout (I believe) counts and therefore they are less than $800,000 below the threshold right now. It is safe to assume they sign 2 players and will be above the minimum threshold.
  10. Here is your adjustment. It seems it was not stretched Jamal buyout year 1 - 10,942,762 - year 2 - 2,304,226 https://www.peachtreehoops.com/2017/7/19/15994904/atlanta-hawks-salary-cap-tyler-dorsey-contract-minimum-procedure So to simplify, they chose to eat Crawford's salary this year because they had the space and to free up space for free agency next year. They now have $9.945 million in cap space with 2 roster spaces available.
  11. and that is what I call, giving a reporter what he has coming.
  12. Actually it might be a matter of perspective. I just read through his twitter front page and didn't see anything concerning. The "woman's face when she realizes you were telling the truth" is pretty funny.
  13. I have thought long and hard about this. PG - Dennis is fleeter afoot than almost every point in the league. SG - Both Baze and Bembry are lightning quick for SGs, especially on D. Baze - average instincts, Bembry great defensive instincts. SF - Prince is a glider, agile but not super fast. Fantastic instincts. (Hampered by bad handles). PF - Collins loves to run and is a nightmare cover due to speed, agility and body control. Great instincts. Ersan is pro, master at taking a charge and is crafty. C- Dedmon - quick for a bigman, very athletic, lacks fundamentals and polish. I see a pattern. Up and down our roster, nearly every player has at least average instincts, good foot speed, high IQ. Almost all lack offensive polish, most are solid if not great defenders. This team is going to try to win in the full court with steals, rebounds and running like they stole something. Even Plumlee, the scouting report on him is that when healthy he is athletic with good instincts. I think the plan offensively is going to be to try to run teams off the floor.......in the half court. Constant movement, screens, hands up. Free Dennis up but keeping everyone active and then going full vulture forcing teams into mistakes initiating their offense. I'm not sure they are planning to win via skill, but through BBIQ, movement and wearing teams down. Our first unit might be the quickest in the NBA, our second unit may need to play 7 to score.
  14. If his attitude was questionable I'd say make him earn it, but all indications are that he is very grounded and could start day 1.
  15. On a very high note, we have a roster of players who know how to take a charge.
  16. And what the Dwight haters forget is that Charlotte had a better record than the Hawks last year until injuries began to decimate the team in Jan/Feb. During one stretch they went 1-12. When healthy, they were seeded top 4. and they got better. Dwight for Plumlee + Monk for Belinelli is a serious win.
  17. Hornets will be a top 4 team in the east
  18. Signings like Ersan rarely show up in the box score day one, but go a long way toward long term development. Ersan is a pro's pro and his influence on the youngsters is something you don't measure in a box score but will influence their play the rest of their lives.
  19. Go through the list of current NBA PF/SF's and you'll find 100 that Josh is still better than. The real issue is Josh has had knee problems for a few years and the NBA is a non-stop grind. No rest for the joints. His knees won't hold up anymore if he's expected to be a leaper. This is the reason he was trying to change his game. He left Sichuan last year as his mobility decreased and his minutes tightened. From his wikipedia page. Sichuan Blue Whales (2016–2017)[edit] On November 8, 2016, Smith signed a three-month, $1.5+ million contract with the Sichuan Blue Whales of the Chinese Basketball Association.[30] In his second game for Sichuan on November 16, 2016, Smith recorded 41 points, 19 rebounds, five blocks in a loss to Guangdong Southern Tigers. In the game, he shot 7-of-18 from three-point range.[31] He left the team in late January 2017, and in 26 games, he averaged 18.8 points, 10.6 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 2.0 blocks in 29.5 minutes per game while making only one start.[32]
  20. The Hawks as currently constructed are full of people who can defend. Defense wins games....they'll fall into 20 wins based on defense. Its the other 20 I don't know about.
  21. Josh Maggette makes me taste my own vomit. 15 points in 9 minutes for Collins and the foul that had him removed was a ghost touch. Bembry with 5 turnovers (again). He needs to stop trying to do everything. Prince looking lost without a real PG out there.
  22. The drool over Collins right now is that he is making NBA type plays in a pick up type environment. As AALI34 said, That's it right there. His BBIQ right now seems light years ahead of a typical draft pick. A couple times you've seen him leak out before a play is over because he's seeing his fast break opportunity develop before it does. A number of times you see him get an entry pass and stop, take a dribble and let the defender fly by then go up for an easy dunk. The play where he was under the basket under Markannen and used his body and footwork to turn nothing into a 2 hand flush. The bad entry pass that he turned into a reverse dunk. These are all signs of body control and awareness. None of which are reliance on just athleticism. The real reason that he dropped to 19 is that 18 other teams (and me by the way) were wrong.
  23. Not a fan of Cotton and Cordinier. They look lost. Kaba is slow to react. Stone needs reps. On a scarier note, Las Vegas police are investigating claims of child abuse against John Collins for that dunk over 19 year old Markannen.

    11,596

11,596. This is the number of minutes played by Hawks players in 2016-17 that are no longer on the team. That is 141 minutes per game that now need to be absorbed by these new 1 and 2 year players.
