  1. Seriously, you young guys missed out by not seeing Willis in his prime. Take a look youngins at what a real power forward looks like.
  2. Willis. I love players that work. Mookie with his defense is a very close second.
  3. Because Sap isn't good off the dribble on the wing. He's a legit stretch 4, but at least one wing has to be able to put the ball on the floor and drive to the basket. Most 3's would strip Sap nightly. With a ball handling 2 like Hardaway it would work, but not with Korver.
  4. http://www.82games.com/1617/1617ATL.HTM Through the first 9 games (82 games is always a few games behind), the Hawks are +4.2 with Tim off the floor, +19 with him on. He has a win share of 77%. Even crazier numbers belong to Howard and Delaney. With Howard on the floor, his simple production rating is a 35.7 (best on team by far). His opponents 10.5. With Delaney on the floor, his on court/off court differential is +25. Schröder is = -26. The offense is running far better with Delaney on the floor.
  5. If the season ended today The Hawks would be the 1 seed in the East and Al Horford would still be a douche.
  6. I don't. Dwight was my number one target in the offseason. His only real mistake was the exit in Orlando. The fans there didn't deserve that. He accepted a humiliating role in Houston with class (imho), something Harden, Kobe, and numerous others would not do. I am happy to say he was not the problem there or LA.
  7. Thanks for the props but if Dwight / Dennis or Sap gets hurt....life gets difficult really quick. For now, I'll stand on top and say Neener neener neener.
  8. Seriously though, I've proposed numerous 5's in the last few years, willing to move Al to the 4 where I didn't feel he'd be overmatched. Always focusing on rebounding as our most serious flaw. The main reason I liked smooth was his defense and rebounding.
  9. Can we now dispel with the notion that Dwight is a team cancer?
  10. Waive Mike Scott to make room. But I'd really, really want to make sure his head is right. That he understands he here to play defense and rebound. He is not here to shoot outside of 5 feet.
  11. I'll be the one to step out there. Bunch of pansy predictions is what you all have. 62 wins 1 seed NBA Finals 1100 minutes. Reasoning Dwight Defense > Horford Dennis Defense > Teague Prince, Dwight, Hump (for full year) = greater rebounding, easy put backs Cleveland lost their Aussie mascot and knee breaker Cleveland is a year older Toronto is cold....really cold God loves us more and finally Pink Fluffy Unicorns dance on rainbows. You should all be ashamed of yourselves.....predicting win totals in the 40's? 7th seeds? It is 3 nights to opening night...this is a time for optimism, not realism. Screw you hippies.
  12. Edy - 15/8 in under 14 minutes.....best part of the Dwight signing, Edy has a mentor and a practice partner.
  13. Hey all. The Hawks are holding an open practice on the 1st. I've attended more than 1/2 of these in the last 10 years, but I've never met any of my fellow squawkers. I was wondering if any of you are planning to go and if perhaps the squawkers wanted to meet at a time/place inside and perhaps sit together/meet. Respond here if interested and we'll make soft plans.
  14. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The wait this off-season is maddening.
  15. What I think is interesting, is they mentioned how Pippen could start immediately (ie..NBA ready like Prince) but no discussion about how getting Pippen (and Grant later...see Bembry) would = a 3 peat. They saw Pippen as a good player, even a starter but not a difference maker. Defense first type players never get the respect they deserve. In the first video, they even compare Pippen to a younger Dennis Rodman. Meaning that if a player is not incredibly dominant offensively at Division 1, the media has no idea what they are dealing with. They just watch Sports Center too.
  16. I'm sticking by my original analysis....In 10 years, he'll be thought of as an underemployed man's Pippen. Here was the "discussion" following the trade....It just reminds me of the discussion involving Teague vs Prince+Schröder as a starter. See last 45 seconds.
  17. Zero allstars if we can get back to the East Finals and I'm happy.
  18. Dennis won't need as much help on the perimeter and by midseason, Korver will be coming off the bench.
  19. For me the defense is all about what happens when we play Cleveland in the playoffs. Cleveland flawlessly forced us to overcompensate when they cleared out for Lebron isos. Horford was not strong enough or aware enough to handle double duty on Lebron's drives. It always required help. Dwight will not need help to stop Lebron once he powers past his man off the dribble. Way less rotating which means no more JR Smith camping 3.
  20. Around game 40, the league experts are going to be saying, "how did we miss on Atlanta's stellar draft". The trade wasn't Teague for Schröder. The trade was Teague 28 mpg/Schröder 20 mpg for Schröder 33 mpg/Delaney 15 mpg + Prince + 5 million in cap space which = Jack+Hump. Writers are idiots. And the decision wasn't Horford for Howard. The decision was Horford for Howard +$3million towards keeping Baze. These Hawks moves were incredibly savvy. They keep total salaries low so that next year we can afford to keep Sap, rearrange the log jam around the wing positions to let the rooks play and extend Schröder. Again...the writer is an idiot.
  21. You sir have a bad habit of saying everything I've been saying, but with fewer words and easier to understand......you're making me look bad here.
  22. A simple career stats comparison of Howard and Horford should tell any fan what they need to know. Howard - 17.8/12.7/2.1/1.5 on 58.2% shooting. Horford - 14.3/8.9/1.2/2.7 on 53.5% shooting. Except in Assists, the offensive impact is obvious. It can be argued the difference in assists can be attributed to the personnel around Horford (Smith/Sap) getting predesigned plays (Josh getting the back door cut play) or plays where Horford as a part of the offense at the top of the key gets assists on pass-off shots behind screens. The Howard impact is fairly obvious if any coach uses him correctly.
  23. Howard/Schröder - 2016! Make Atlanta Great Again. (Squawkers for Better Basketball is responsible for the content of this message).
  24. Unfortunately, the draw of basketball for the fan is the intimate experience. Even "bad" seats in basketball are pretty close compared to other sports. A football stadium really puts you a long way from the action.
