  2. When you consider that you played most of last year without Horford, Horford for JJ seems to be a wash. Here is the gone and here list. Basically you replace a 19ppg, a 10ppg and singles for a 15 ppg, 12 ppg, 12 ppg and singles. You get way healthier, way younger. If the rookies perform, we're better, not worse as is.GoneJoe - 18.8ppgMarvin - 10.6Green - 7.6Hinrich - 6.6Pargo - 5.6T-Mac - 5.3Vlad - 4.5Stack - 3.6Collins - 1.3Dampier - .1IncomingHorford (out due to injury) 15PPGDevin Harris - 12 ppgMorrow - 12.1Jordan Williams - 4.6Johan Petro - 4.2Stephenson - 2.9Jenkins - ???Scott - ???
  3. No, we don't have to take Hedo but that was what Orlando was trying to accomplish 5 months ago when talking trade. You must take X to get Y.Personally, I think Horford, Harris, Petro + Pick gets you Hedo/Dwight and Horford/Harris/Pick may get you Dwight alone. The thing people are missing is Dwight is currently nothing next year for Orlando. Horford is signed through 2016 and is a Florida guy. That's a big thing. This is part of what was appealing about JJ. Bad deal, yes. But JJ was signed which at least tells you what you have. In Orlando's case, they don't know what they have right now. Getting Horford, Teague would give them a center and a player who's future they control. Two long term pieces plus a pick. That is way better than no Dwight next year. Orlando is working for 2014/2015 anyway. Getting long term pieces would help them attract players in 2014/15.
  4. With the Farmar buyout, we currently sit at 12 players (assuming Ivan and picks are in the stable) at about 56 million. Assuming a trade of Horford, Harris, Petro Houston's first rounder and filler or Zaza, Teague, Horford, other and the first rounder we can technically squeeze it in. Currently Orlando is way, way over the LT and so invoking the 150% rule to take back extra salary from them is doing them a huge favor...meanwhile, we have 14 million under the LT (give or take). Horford, Harris, Petro, + 1st forHoward, Hedo is doable. We line upTeague / fillerJenkins/MorrowHedu/StevensonJosh/Ivan/ScottDwight/ZazaAnd Lebron, Wade, Bosh are collectively found cursing, wallowing in a bar.
  5. Ah common Mace...you know I love you. All in good fun.FYI, Josh is not "the new centerpiece". There is a little more work to do.
  6. We paid him close to $100 million for 7 years work. We don't "owe" him anything.
  7. Is he Joe Johnson? No.Is he a top 10 SG in the league in the next 3 years? NoIs he a serviceable starter if you now have the money to get a legit center? Yes.If you flip Devin Harris (or Teague), Horford and a first for Dwight Howard and lineup Teague, Jenkins, FA, Smith, Howard? absolutely. There will always be a double team down low. You play inside out and whatever sharpshooter we get to play the 3 + Jenkins will always be open.
  8. I'm going to bet Josh takes the 3 full time, there is a trade to be made and Zaza starts next to AL. Rebounding against winning teams was an issue last year for sure.
  9. This time spiking the football a whole freaking lot!!!
  10. Financial depth chart2.45 / 9 / 4.254 / 113.2 / 2 (assumed)12 / 1 / .55.25 / 3.5 / .75$58.9 million (ish) 13 players. 54.6 million if Farmar is in the Marvin deal (12 players). This is just an estimation.
  11. My thought is..the players involved are 12 million + the cost of Stevenson's deal. The thing reported said we were paying for the buyout but then it also said the players added were to keep NJ over the cap. Assuming it is NJ buying out Farmar and we are paying for it, then we are only taking back 8 million + . This leaves us at 48 million committed +Stevenson. Assuming we trade assets + the pick we just got, another move is then truly possible.
  12. According to reports. The deal is for Morrow, Williams, Petro, Farmar, Stevenson, Houstons 2013 pick (protected). However Farmar will get bought out at the Hawks expense.I need an explanation about the buy out part. Whose cap does that hit, for how much and how is it affected if he signs elsewhere? $4,250,000 owed this year.
  13. First thing I don't believe all day??? Josh also wants to leave right? Have you ever seen the things he posts on his FB/Twitter....pictures of Hawks' hats, team logos, etc.You bring Dwight home to the ATL, create the financial flexibility to resign Josh for a fair salary, create flexibility to bring in a good SF and or upgrade the PG and Dwight will sign here. He just wants the ring, legitimacy, appreciation. That's all any athlete wants.
  14. Assuming I'm right above, that explains why we might be interested in Johnny Flynn. We'd still have our mid level exception to get one better player and have room to resign Josh/Dwight next year. Technically we could resign Kirk for whatever we wanted because he was ours. In the above deal, you could also exchange Al for Marvin/Zaza and then just be guards short.
  15. I'm really thinking the reason Ferry is holding out for Brooks, is because that may be the deal breaker with Orlando. My guessJohnson to NetsThenMarvin, Brooks, Zaza, Farmar + our 2 firsts (ours and Houston's via Brooklyn) for Dwight. Teague/Jenkins/MorrowJosh/Jordan WilliamsAl/Mike ScottDwight/Petro$57 million spent - 9 under contract.
  16. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2012/writers/sam_amick/07/02/nba-free-agency-steve-nash-dwight-howard-deron-williams/index.html " The Dwight-mare continues LeBron James has long since passed the torch to Dwight Howard when it comes to poor public relations and the Orlando center was back at it again recently. A source close to the situation confirmed reports that Howard requested a trade yet again Friday, telling new Magic general manager Rob Hennigan that he wanted out during a meeting in Los Angeles. The source said the Magic's ears are certainly open for business when it comes to trade calls now, and various reports indicate talks are heating up with the Hawks, Lakers and Nets. Howard, to review, waffled his way up to the March 15 trade deadline before deciding to opt-in to the final year of his contract on the final day while claiming his "loyalty" to the organization played a part in the decision. The twists and turns of his overly-dramatic story have become difficult to keep track of, almost all of them hurting the image of a player who was once seen as one of the league's most endearing young talents. But rest assured, all indications are that he should finally be traded soon enough. At least that's the hope from here."
  17. The Stevenson contract would be about 2 years at 2.5 mil per.You have 12 players, short of the LT by 12 million. Tradeable commodities in that list.12 million in wiggle roomMarvin 7.5 mil17 million in expiring contractsMorrow (expiring)Farmar (expiring)Zaza (expiring)Petro (expiring)and2 - 1st round picks in 2013.Think like a GM, not a fan.
  18. check that...Stevenson would be probably closer to 2.5 per.
  19. Because there are 3 expirings in there and you have Marvin as an asset. The deal as currently written puts you at $58 millionish, 2 firsts and 2 seconds next year.
  20. Current reported deal on ESPN is now: "The most recent proposal, sources said Sunday night, would call for the Nets to send the expiring contracts of Jordan Farmar, Johan Petro, Anthony Morrow and Jordan Williams along with the signed-and-traded DeShawn Stevenson and a future first-round pick to Atlanta in exchange for Johnson." So this is probably Houston's pick next year (protected). The 4 players are about 12 million, Stevenson will probably sign for about 3-4 million per. So assuming Mike Scott makes the team, Jenkins signs as well, we are at 12 players, a banked pick and $58 million. Guessing we would then package Marvin, an expiring or two and one of the picks next year for someone else's problem of about 15 + million.
  21. Doesn't matter anyway. Just discovered http://basketball.realgm.com/nba/draft/future_drafts/detailedNets own Houston's 2013 which frees up either for trade.
  22. I found 1 site that agrees and about 50 that read it differently...trying to get it from the NBA rules themself.
