  1. He does it to spite you. I was shocked when I heard it really but he was sitting in the locker room saying, "I ain't passing to JT-0 anymore. I heard ticks off this guy on Hawksquawk and I can't stand that guy". You should sue!
  2. Offense is nice, but Defense wins.
  3. 20 shots a game....50% down to 45% is 1 missed shot a game. 2 points. If that gets you better opportunities for other players (like a massive improvement in your shooting and point guards shooting percentage) and an increase in foul shots plus a reduction in turnovers. I'll take 1 less made shot a game.
  4. I also wonder about the "shot selection" comments. Teague is playing well, but Teague is not a pass first point guard. Bibby was not a good creator. I wonder how much Josh's shooting percentage, shot selection would improve with a facilitator on the floor. The same could be said for Al. Ever since they started running lots of pick n rolls from the slot, their offense has looked good.
  5. boston has a brutal stretch of 8 games in 1 days 2 back to backs, 1 back to back to back. Miami, Atlanta x2, Orlando and NY all in the schedule. Atlanta get's them on fresh legs as the 2nd game of a back to back and then the last game of the stretch. That will be one tired Boston squad. We could/should win both.Atlanta on the other hand only has 1 back to back left (home/away with Toronto). Next 2 games are on the road but with tons of rest against Boston/Orlando. Then 6 home, 1 away (Toronto).
  6. Upcoming stretch for Indiana. 6 games in 9 days. At Cleveland, at home with Minnesota, then home and away against both Philly and Milwaukee who are fighting for their lives for the last playoff spot in the East. Oh how Philly has fallen.
  7. I took another look at this and it is looking very likely we'll be facing Orlando or Indiana in the first round. Much depends on our head to heads with Boston and Orlando.
  8. If you are talking about the last time we played Chicago, we were pretty dead. Chances of covering the 3 point shooters considering what the schedule makers did to us and the injuries was unfair. It won't be that way in the playoffs with a healthy roster.
  9. I'll bite. For his year long production, Marvin is overpaid about 2.5 million a year. If he plays off the bench like he has the last 2 weeks, He's about right/slightly overpaid. I have no problem saying that. Now since we're being honest about production, let's look at the Hawks and see where they are Teague - 12.6ppg, 2.4 rpg, 4.9apg - 1.6 million a year....grossly underpaid. Zaza - 7.8ppg, 8.0 rpg - 4.75 million a year....about right, maybe overpaid, numbers deceive based on bench time Marvin - 9.9 ppg, 5.1 rpg - 7.5 million a year.....overpaid (numbers are better since being made 6th man but still overpaid) Hinrich - 6.6 ppg, 2.8 apg - 8 million a year..... grossly overpaid....numbers don't bear out contribution but still overpaid. Josh - 18.9 ppg, 9.7 rpg, 3.9 apg - 12.4 million.....a little underpaid should be about 15 million a year. 1.5 steals, 1.8 blocks ups value. Joe - 19.0 ppg, 3.6 rpg, 3.9 apg - 18 milliion ..... overpaid!!! If Josh at his production level is 15, Joe is about 13.5-$15. If comparing him to Al at 12 million last year, the numbers are very similar and he is a $12-14 million player. Al - 12.4 ppg, 7 rpg - 12 million a year.... incomplete as these are below his normal numbers and are affected by injury blowouts to start the year. Using last year's numbers of 15.3, 9.3, 3.5 he is below Josh's current production a little and is probably a little underpaid.
  10. Geezer Patrol?Long Toothed Assassins
  11. He started 2 for 10. He went 5 of the next 7. Finished 7 of 17. Had he finished 2 of 10 there would be more value in this thread. He was 41% for the game. Now scratching my head was both the shot selection. The first shot or 2 seemed to be designed for him. After that, the entire team was lethargic getting into the set and the Bobcats played good D to start. We weren't getting good shots at all. Shots 6-10 though, head scratchers.
  12. That's fair but their other stats are similar and Lebron's was a drop off in stats. Josh won rebounds with Lebron by 1.5, blocks by .5 and Turnovers by .9. They were a wash but I'd buy Lebron over Pierce no problem.
  13. I think people forget Teague is only 23 years old. Technically, this is a rookie year. I am not a big fan of PG's and Centers coming out early. See Teague through the lens of a 23 years old rookie and you'll see him differently.
  14. Actually, there is a bench dynamic right now where Stackhouse, Josh, Teague and Van Exel are always talking. Stack has been coaching Josh on the bench all year. He might be the best move we made and Josh is listening to him. Stack, Van Exel and Josh have all taken turns with Jeff. If you watch on the bench at the end of the 3rd/start of the 4th, they are all sitting together.
  15. Yep, I discovered that. Both 1st and 2nd levels will wristband you if you head into Taco Mac at the break.
  16. I was at the game tonight. Teague looked fantastic...best I've seen him play offensively. Seeing Ivan and Green play in person was eye opening. Neither is great at perimeter D in our scheme.
  17. Cool...that's what I thought...We just loaded up on Cheesy Chicken Enchilada Chicken Helper (you through it on burrito shells and make killer burritos). Tickets in the 314 section, 1-4 on the inside aisle, row K. Stop by and say hi if you're at the factory tonight.
  18. I was looking at stats for another thread and I took a good look at this thread.Danny Manning, traded for one Dominique Wilkins in the middle of the best season on record for the Hawks ever. In 25 games with the Hawks that year, here are Manning's numbers.15.7 PPG, 6.5 RPG, 3.3 APG 3.3 TO/G 65% FT% with only 3.2 trips to the line per game. Those are just a little better than Marvin's numbers. How oh how did that happen??? Compare them to Nique's from the same year.24.4 PPG, 6.2 RPG, 2.3 APG, 2.4 TO/G, 83% FT% with 6.6 trips to the line per game.http://www.basketball-reference.com/teams/ATL/1994.htmlHere, look back at that team. One of the best in Hawks history as it was built on teamwork on both ends of the floor, not flash but substance and remember what should have been.11 in Points per game, 4th in defensive points per game. Even after Manning's arrival hurt both numbers.
  19. Our pride isn't the team, it's the environment. Atlanta is an amazing city. Great atmosphere, nightlife, history. But the team monicker has always been one of exciting but not well orchestrated basketball. The Nique teams for example had great individual performers but the team concept lacked. The best "team" team was the team right before Nique was traded. In his last 2 years in Atlanta, Nique matured greatly. I honestly believe that if they hadn't traded him that year, they would have won it all. That trade was the beginning of a nasty downward spiral.
  20. <----- someone who watched him night in, night out. Nique was one of most impactful offensive players I've ever seen. Not only did he score, but he changed everything about the way the defense approached the game. His presence created opportunities for other players on the floor without having to do a thing. That said, Nique was soft defensively, at times a passive rebounder (one year he committed to it and average 9 per game but was 6.7 average for his career and for his usage, an unwilling passer (2.5 apg for his career). I loved Nique but at times he frustrates me when he talks about defense. That was his weakness. He was good at defense when he committed to it but that was rare. He was a "funneler" on D and that may have been in part to strategy of the team. But he wasn't interested in boxing out or stopping the ball. However, that could also be me putting him on a pedestal and saying "the rest of his game is stellar, everything should be stellar" and holding him to a higher standard.
  21. I've never bought this package but I'm thinking of taking the family tonight. Anyone know if Taco Mac is inside the arena or is it at the CNN center? Just wondering if the cards can be used inside the arena or not (cost matters).
  22. We not only can get the 3rd seed, we will be the 3rd seed. You don't look at strength of schedule, you look at potential losses for a team. You do this because you win some you shouldn't and lose some you shouldn't but it balances out.Atlanta - potential losses = Bostonx2, Orlando, NY, Clippers, Dal - All 6 games are after an open night. All could easily be a win. I'm betting 3 and 3 in these games. Finishing the year 8-3 (11 games in 21 days) 10 days restIndiana - Potential losses = OKC, Bos, Chi, Mil x2, Phi x2, Min. 3 of these games are back to backs, 2 on road. I see at least 5 losses based on match-ups, condensed schedule (12 games in 20 days). 8 days rest. Meaning 7-5.Both Atlanta and Indiana would finish the year with 26 losses in this scenario. Boston - Miami x2, Atl x2, Ind, Phi, Orl, NY, Mil - There are at least 5 losses in there. So final playoff seeding will probably be (Atl and Ind are interchangable.1. Chi2. Mia3. Atl4. Bos5. Ind6 Orl7. Phi8. NYThe way I see it, we are playing either Orlando or Boston in the 1st round. Miami beats Philly in 5, Chicago beats NY in 5. If it's Bos-ATL in round 1 I see the Hawks in 5. If it is ATL - Orl in round 1 it's Atlanta in 4. Assuming we are 3rd seed, Horford is back for the Miami series. I see Atlanta winning in 7 against Miami. Chicago beating Indiana in 6. Chicago beats ATL in the Eastern Conference playoffs in 6 and goes on to beat the Spurs in the Finals.
  23. Player>>>>>Josh >>>>>>PierceFG%>>>>>>45.4 >>>>>>46.0 Pierce + .6%PPG>>>>>> 23.9 >>>>>>22.3 Josh + 1.6RPG>>>>>> 10.1 >>>>>> 5.7 Josh + 4.4APG>>>>>> 4.5>>>>>>> 3.7 Josh + .8SPG>>>>>> 1.5>>>>>>> 1.2 Josh + .3BPG>>>>>> 1.4 >>>>>>> .5 Josh + .9TO/G>>>>> 2.3 >>>>>> 2.6 Josh - .3Maybe you can explain it to me. Less turnovers, more assists, more rebounds, steals, blocks and points in a condensed schedule with 2 more games meaning he maintained it over a bigger spread. This was a case of pure bias as was the all star snub.
  24. He draws a double often in the post. Typically the guard at the near top or the center leaves to cover him in the post. No imagination at all.
  25. Howard and Smith, both healthy on any team would be as close to guaranteed championship as you can get. These players are 1/2 in defensive win shares in the league. The lane would be closed down. Imagine this, a team where you never have to double team in the post. Imagine this...a team where you always have to double team them in the post. This is what you get. Can you double Howard in the left post, leaving Smith available for putbacks on the left, open for rotations, etc. Can you ever double Josh in the right post? He is free to go one on one in the near post over an over. It will be pick your poison. But on defense, you can't just back either down as the other is waiting to block your shot when you make your move. It's a matchup nightmare. Guards can't penetrate as a shot blocker is on both sides of the lane....You need 2 spot up shooters and the team is nigh unstoppable. Neither is an offensive nightmare on their respective teams as neither has a similar post companion. These 2 play opposite sides of the paint and are extremely similar.
