    I think you can trade down a bit and score Dereck Lively. Yah, I know...another Duke guy but there's talk he'll drop to the bottom 6 of the 1st round where he'd be a steal at that spot.

    The above is no longer the case and this is the one player I know the Hawks are interested in.  I believe the above is why you see the rumors with us and Dallas. Going to need to be 10-12 to score Lively.

    2 things...

    People say that CC's perimeter defense has waned.   I say... not really.   You have to have something on the court with him to allow him to be good.   I was really studying the makeup of that 20-21 team also.  I was trying to see what did Snell and Solo bring.  Offensively, Solo brought nothing.   I wanted to say his bringing nothing was the reason why Trae stepped so far up in the playoffs.   But Solo didn't play enough in the playoffs to say that.  It was Kev was my conclusion.   but back to solo and snell.   They did bring defense that helped Clint.   Not that they were stoppers, but those vets new where to be and what to do.   We got young guys now who can't direct defense.  Hunter is learning on the job.   And Murray is very good on ball but in space (especially on the perimeter) not so much.  It may have been scheme pulling him out of place and that's cool but I suspect that Quin can work with him and he's the type of guy who will soak up everything that Quin says.

    2nd...

    Jalen and the point forward.   The reason we like Jalen is that he can dribble and he makes good decisions with the ball.   Something that JC doesn't do so well.   The problem is Jalen doesn't have the basic game that JC has.  i.e. Post, high post,  3pt shooting.   Jalen is akin to a poor man's Siakam (since we've been talking about him) if Jalen has the ball and he's coming downhill, he's trouble.   However, unlike Siakam, he hasn't developed the other parts of his game.  So we don't know what to call him.   I believe he will develop those parts of his game and he will be trouble but the question is how much do you give him?  Will making him the starter ruin him?

    Uhm....Jalen is really good in the post, but we don't feature it. He has a true back to the basket game.

    You need to watch some of his highlights from the skyhawks.  Here watch this game from last year, focus on 40 second through 1:05 mark.  What he lacks is aggressiveness in the post, not size.  Jalen is very afraid of committing the offensive foul. I believe this has to do with Nate's quick hook for rookies/young players.

  3. A large number of the moving players are people we talked about at the trade deadline.  Some of these rumors are just recycled but there's a good reason for that.

    In many cases, trades that couldn't be finalized at the deadline will be able to be when team caps change after June 30th. So a number of the deals you'll see will be announced draft night but won't be finalized until after the moratorium ends.

    Trades finalized before June 30th but after the last day of the regular season count toward the next season's cap, not the previous. Although still within the 2022/23 season, you cannot trade to avoid the salary tax after your season ends. So there is a bit of freedom there. You can trade with an eye forward on your next cap/tax threshold, not the current.

    No idea how to get the labels turned on to show who is who, so I realize that this may not be ultra instructive, here is touches vs points generated.

    image.png.c7e477efb5be6080909c4624ebabc8ce.png

    Of note:

    • Trae is most points generated / 4th most touches / 2nd in terms of pts/touch
    • Top 10 in Pts:  Trae, Luka, Jokic, Tatum, SGA, Sabonis, Fox, Dame, Giannis, Embiid
    • Top 10 in Touches:  Jokic, Sabonis, Luka, Trae, FVV, Giddey, Brunson, Siakam, Fox, CJ Mc
    • Top 10 in Pts/T (min 3K Touches):  Booker, Trae, DeRozan, SGA, KD, Embiid, Ja, Luka, Giannis, LBJ

    I know Trae is high volume and he didn't shoot it well this year, but he's damn ELITE when it comes to generating points from his touches.  Only Booker was better this year and the company he's keeping are nearly all legit MVP dudes.

    So simplifying:

    Trae = 1 pts, 4 touches.

    Luka = 2 pts, 3 touches

    Jokic = 3 pts, 1 touches.

    IE: the original chart/post was misleading.  Only caveat is I believe all of Jokic's rebounds count as touches.

    Apparently many people do not understand how human growth works. Once you are done growing, you are done growing. Let's take Okongwu for example, he has been the same height since 10th grade. You don't cease growing for 5 years and then suddenly grow 2 inches. That's not how it works. Also the overwhelming majority of prospects are done growing by age 19. Many haven't grown since they were 16. But you do have some occasional late bloomers, but it's very rare to be growing once your age starts with a 2. Also, the notion that their bodies wait until the off-season to grow, as if it's some conscious choice, is also highly questionable. I remember when the board was convinced every off season that Cam Reddish was supposedly 2 inches taller. I, of course, being an adherent of science and a voice of reason, dispelled the specious claims.

    I entered the army at 23 years old 5'9". 3 years later I grew almost 3 inches in 8 months while overseas.  Measurements are on my entrance papers and my physical after leaving active duty orders......I have receipts....what now son?

    Recently saw this tweet about Dominque Wilkins and had no idea he was a Clipper or a Celtic at the end of his career. I’m a newer Hawk fan since the Joe Johnson days as a kid. I want to know from the older members of this, what was the reaction when Dominque Wilkins got traded to Los Angeles Clippers from everybody? Betrayal? Happy it happened? What was the vibe?

    about 9-1 fan fury

    We were tops in the East off and on that season and Management tried to sell that Manning was a more complete player.  Nique was more than a stat line to many fans in Atlanta and people were hot.

    They tried to get behind Manning but the team never recovered emotionally. Nique was a leader that season in the locker room.
