1. We're going to win a lot of games going away. Some minutes will get divided strictly based on 20 point leads. There are teams in this league that won't be able to keep up with our scoring, pure and simple. There will be at least 10 gimme games on the schedule and minutes will go out.
2. Waiting for games is dumb! Prove I'm wrong!
3. Mental note...took me a second to find it.
4. Excuse me while I stretch so I can pat myself on the back.
Harkless is a bum (IMHO) and I'll be perfectly happy when we pay one of those excess 2nd round picks for someone to take him off our hands. There are better players to be had at a vet minimum right now. He was salary to get the deal done and nothing else. What we get with Harkless is a salary that can be packaged with a trade exception to bring back a $7-10 million player. I don't expect him here for the first game of the season. I don't expect him here in 3 weeks. I could be wrong on both.
I was wrong on 3 weeks, I was wrong on the possibility to package him later with an exception. I was not wrong that he wouldn't start the season with us. He was never in our plans. I'm still mad K'von is gone but I get it.
5. I realize you work in corporate law and are closer to this...but I've been a middle to high-middle employee my whole life in almost exclusively large corporations. I've only seen recently a change in company training videos showing the woman as the harasser or the one acting inappropriately in the workplace. The very culture of large corporations assumes the male as the aggressor (and maybe rightly so) in most cases. My comments were to societal and not corporate opinion but I can move there if you like. The problem is the corporate workplace is more complicated, where payoffs and buyouts exist as well as pressures built around job security. I would submit that only a fracture of inappropriate workplace dealings are reported. From a position of power against subordinates, logic dictates that more men are in positions of power and by extension more cases would be male superior vs female subordinate than any other. It would be normal and rational for personal bias to creep into the thought processes. I think the problem here is in trying to find an all in one solution. I like the logic that Jordan Peterson employs when talking about these workplace disparities. He talks about the difference between individual men and women can flip any paradigm and that if you sampled 100 men, 100 women, you'd see norms played out in most cases. But that you see the greatest differences in the extremes and specifically in terms of aggression. There are women who are more aggressive than some men and men who are more passive than most women but when you sample at the extremes, the most aggressive are primarily men and the most passive are primarily women and I personally believe these are where our biases lay. I didn't miss your point, nor his and was mostly siding with you, but my perspective is more grounded in how no matter what the policy, what the HR playbook, personal bias always plays a part and that bias of man aggressor, woman victim will always creep in (even if minor). Especially if the situation goes public because it's no longer just an HR matter, but a public affairs problem as well.
6. I think his failure there is saying "always". Speaking in absolutes opens you to criticism. It would be fair though to say that the tendency in society is to side with the woman in the absence of further evidence. The onus (socially) is on the man to defend himself. I see this changing some but that is still the norm (though not an absolute).
7. Expected to miss the entire 2022-23 season. Injured it 3 weeks ago.

9. I think an interesting project would be to score the folks on here based on their comments during past drafts. If poster hated, disliked, neutral, like, loved a player, give that poster 1-5 for each player he mentioned and match that against a player was bust, below average, average, above average, star/star+. Match those rankings for each poster and give him a "trustability score". 1 last column per poster, activity score. The more he talks about players, the less/more his variance from reality can be disregarded/trusted. Any other data science nerds out there want to research this for last 5+ drafts and make something?
10. I was at it again, this time, a 500 mile trip up to the see the grandson. I made the 5 year old participate and learn. We had some left over parts after upgrading the wife to the Azza 804v pyramid case. So we bought some more parts and involved a 5 year old in making a Wolf themed pc. Enjoy. Things to notice. Husky/wolf animals on the desk, wolf XXL desk mouse/keyboard mat, custom 3D printed fan covers, Vinyl wolf stickers front and glass side, and wolf prints on the back/top. Yes, this went to a 5 year old. 11700k, 1660 super (will replace when he's older), 32gig ram, 1TB m.2 hard drive. Z-Edge 24 inch curved monitor.
11. This why Culver went so high. The problem is Culver never developed a 3 point shot in the NBA, shooting under 30%. If he could get to just 35% from 3, he'd be a great pickup. The problem is his 3 pt shot is unnatural compared to his more normal contact, rise and shoot feel. No player ever needed a shooting coach more, because he's able to play the rest of the game adequately.
12. For those of you who have been around awhile, we used to have a professional roller hockey team called "The Atlanta Fireants". No name ever seemed more fitting.
13. A couple of things you'll notice about Frank the Tank is he throws his body around to create space. He really pisses people off with his elbows, boney shoulder bumps and hip flings. Second, he is very adept at hunting mismatches. Lots of bigs try to catch and go 1v1 with opposing bigs. Not Frank. He'll move in the post, move in the lane to place a smaller player between himself and the opposing big so he can create mismatches. Forcing opposing centers to scramble on defense, forcing teams to rotate inside and create lanes. Anyone who knows old school DePaul basketball, its right out of that mindset. Move in the paint without the ball to force the defense to follow. Frank is not a stand still and wait player. He hunts mismatches.
14. For those without a memory that goes back 7 years, I was campaigning for us to trade up and take Kaminsky in the draft. On that draft night we selected Oubre, traded him to Washington for the rights to Jerian Grant and 2 2nd round future picks. We then flipped Grant to Washington for Tim Hardaway Jr. At the college level, this video shows the very awkward, but how nightmareish a match up Kaminsky was for opposing teams. Rather that watch the highlights. Look at the very pro things he does, floating out for a 3, providing spacing, giving the ball up to the cutter. Kaminsky is not your traditional back to the basket big but instead is an eyes up, see the floor, move to an open spot, force defensive movement big. His benefits are in the team aspect of offense. He is a guy you can never drift off of. Is he a dominant Embiid type, NO! Has he been injured a lot, Yes! Is he valuable....extremely. He's just all elbows which is different than basketball fans are used to seeing. IMHO, this is a catch lightning in a bottle type of a signing. If he stays healthy for 70% of your games, it's a huge win.
15. OO = C/PF (in that order). Kaminsky = C/PF (in that order). Johnson = F which means equally a PF/SF. The uniqueness of the 3 is that they all cause serious problems for the other team, but not the same problems. Johnsons ability to score at all 3 levels and put the ball on the floor is a cover nightmare. His aggressiveness is a greater concern but right now he's the best big we have on the roster at putting the ball on the floor. Let that sink in. He is the one guy right now that you can count on to go get a basket if you need it. He just does it quietly. Kaminsky's size poses very similar issues as Gallo's. His length on the defensive end is very useful. His deer on roller skates defense at the perimeter is the issue. But Hawks fans are going to see a Gallo like player with better rim protection, better help protection and a very attuned sense of the floor and spacing. Kaminsky is to team offense what Gallo was to ISO scoring. He has real value in this area. OO's inability to put the ball on the floor and his propensity for making mistakes when setting picks/ catching while moving are his only real liabilities if and only if he can develop the reliable outside shot. But OO is the literal interpretation of creating offense out of defense and he can't be ignored in the conversation.
16. As I stated back in April, there is more to this story then the media is discussing. Cooper and the Hawks were trying to spin summer league into up'ing his trade value so they could get something back for their investment. He bombed. The Murray trade gave them their backup plan at the 1 and Cooper believes he can contribute. He did not want to go back to the g-league. No idea what his plans for the future are. Whole situation doesn't smell right because the whole story isn't out there. It'll come out eventually.
17. Okay, averages last 4 years (estimated). 17.7, 8.6, 3.2, .9. Better Assists and rebounds, slightly less points/blocks if we take the last 4 years, 142 games. That's a big enough sample to say a healthy Frank > Gallo....especially considering we know the help defense, blocks are there. Remember, Gallo is on his way down...Kaminsky is nearing his prime.
18. Now consider these 2 graphics. Danilo for and against per. Yes, that's a 46.3 against center PER (limited minutes which is why he can't/doesn't do it.). Same graphic Kaminsky He's a pain in the rear end for bench C's to cover, pulling opposing bigs away from the basket while be capable of guarding opposing bigs. Danilo has to dive deep into his bag of tricks for this and it takes away from his offense when he has to play defense.
19. I get your skepticism and to be Frank (see what I did there?), until he can play 70 games in a season, its all what ifs and potential but let me show you 2 sets of PER 36 numbers last year. Player 1 - 18.9 Points, 8.2 Rebounds, 2.6 Assists, 1.6 steals, 1.4 blocks, 1 turn over, 54.5 FG%. .583 eFG Player 2 - 16.6 points, 6.6 Rebounds, 2.2 Assists, .6 steals, .3 blocks, .8 turn over, 43.4% FG%. .528 eFG Player 1 was Kaminsky last year, Player 2 is Danilo Gallinari. Player 1 is making less than 3 million this year. We paid Player 2, 20 million. Statistically, team game speaking, Kaminsky is a better player. I know that's hard to stomach but numbers don't lie. Frank is on the upswing statistically, Danilo on the downturn. Frank is a far better player and help player defensively and at 1/7th the price.
20. When healthy and producing at his expected level, Kaminsky is a $10 million/year player. You're getting him for a $1.79 million cap hit. I'm not sure what the big fuss is over.
21. Exceptions available to us to use. We still have the taxpayer MLE available and 1 slot to fill. We also have the ability to move Harkless for an asset. Those are separate things. There are a number of vets out there worth the full MLE and this is still a possibility they use the full amount (or partial). Harkless is an expiring at the end of this year. There is no incentive for us to trade Harkless unless its for a roster upgrade on a longer term. He won't be dumped because next July 1st its a dump anyway. That said, the Harkless salary is $4.645 million. If we add another $1.7 million salary hit to get to 15 players (I expect it), then Harkless out, nothing in gets us there. Harkless out and any vet in will keep us over the LT if even for a little once the 15th salary is added.
22. They're gonna add another body at probably a 1.76 million charge....or a partial to full MLE deal. The only way we're getting under the MLE is if we're not contending and we're selling at the trade deadline. I don't want to think about that.
