  1. Cam played a role, but health and availability was the bigger culprit.
  2. K'von making an appearance tonight.
  3. partial rumor...the salaries don't add up. Writer is assembling his own rumor off hearsay.
  4. I distinctly remember you criticizing me because I did not! Take the player's names out of it. #9 2018 #20 2022 for #10 2019. That's the trade by the numbers. Take the players' names and Thibbs terrible use of Knox out of the equation and it looks like a win for the Hawks. I am not making that up. I honestly think we might have won this trade going forward. You kind of can't look at it like Cam potential > Knox potential. Knox was terribly utilized in New York that has been evident in the limited playing sample we've seen here. Not worthy of #9, sure but also not worthy of no playing time and little use. Cam was greatly underutilized here because of who was in front of him and Cam failed to do what was necessary to earn the time / utilization. So in their previous circumstances, neither was really worth that #20 pick to keep or get rid of. Knox bad fit NY, Cam playing behind others in Atlanta. When you consider there wasn't going to be another $15 million for Cam once the Hawks got done paying Hunter, he was probably gone anyway. So....we got a #20 pick for $2.5 per year for 4 years vs Cam at $60 million for 4 years or bupkis. Facts are we took each others bad fit and we got a pick in the process. Short term, I actually believe we won the trade. Long term, I believe Cam's natural physical maturity wins out so win/lose actually depends on if Knox develops and what the 20 pick turns in to. If Cam fills out those shoulders and turns into a very solid starting SF he could be very good. IMHO and barring a break out in New York, they are going to flip him again as part of a package in the summer. I'd wager its 75/25 Cam isn't in New York next year, so we really can't see what this deal was (New York win/lose) until we see what Cam is flipped for next year (my assumptions being true that is).
  5. Ask me again when Cam approaches 19/9 for a season.
  6. Chris Haynes: There’s another player we’re going to add to this dynamic. Michael Rubin. For those who don’t know, the Sixers co-owner is very, very, very good friends with James Harden. And I’ve been talking to a rival owner, talking to rival front office executives, who believe that there can be some talk going on now between both sides.Source: Spotify This is a real problem with this situation and one I was chatting with a friend about yesterday. I wouldn't be surprised if there's an investigation into Philly about tampering and if this doesn't blow up the Nets locker room.
  7. To be fair, if I was in media, I might have to scrounge message boards for stories too. Hawks are not in on Jerami Grant right now Zach Lowe on the Hawks: They’ve been linked in recent reports to Jerami Grant. Personally, I think that’s old intel based on what I’ve heard and that they are not in on Jerami Grant right now. 2 hours ago – via Spotify Top Rumors, Trade, Jerami Grant, Atlanta Hawks, Detroit Pistons ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sixers, Hawks discussed blockbuster Ben Simmons-John Collins trade The 76ers and Hawks briefly kicked around a trade of Ben Simmons and Tobias Harris for John Collins, Bogdan Bogdanovic and Danilo Gallinari, league sources told HoopsHype. However, those talks stalled quickly, with Atlanta uninterested in Harris and unlikely to be able to flip him to a third team. 2 days ago – via Michael Scotto @ HoopsHype Top Rumors, Trade, Ben Simmons, Bogdan Bogdanovic, Danilo Gallinari, John Collins, Tobias Harris, Atlanta Hawks, Philadelphia 76ers
  8. Seriously, what the hell is wrong with people? Boy, really? We're going with "boy" Philly? Like what did this moron think was going to happen and I don't want to hear he didn't realize it was offensive. Once, twice on a slip I might be able to accept but repeatedly all game??? https://www.yahoo.com/sports/philadelphia-76ers-fans-ejected-shouting-altercation-carmelo-anthony-los-angeles-lakers-025932220.html
  9. I would think Gallo would command $12-$15 mil per in the upcoming market. I mean he'd sign with someone at that amount. We've had activity on him at $20 mil.
  10. Reddish so far tonight a dnp again.
  11. Piggybacking on this and we've talked about it before...picks in different slots have different values to teams. Picks in the top 5 come with a much higher price tag and so teams need to feel confident they got a winner before picking that high. As you proceed through the first round, you still have a higher cost output but less confidence in the player's ability to live up to the rookie contract. These players are considered projects but their cost is still high enough to impact team finances. Once you hit about pick 20, you are getting to the point the pick is equal to the vet minimum. Investing in a rookie with potential isn't going to replace a vet with immediate bench impact. So pick 25 has as much or more value in a trade scenario as say pick 18. I know that's contrary to public opinion but an NBA GM would consider both players to be capable of getting equal playing time....they are very similar talent wise. An argument can be made that 18 or 25 was picked based on need vs talent and 25 could easily end up a better player but would have been a poor fit with team X. However, the salary difference between 18 and 25 is $733,000 year one and $2.8 million over the length of the contract. Teams usually consider players taken after 15 as all a shot in the dark, hoping your scouting is good. Unless they are targeting a specific player, they're less likely to feel good about taking a chance on a draft pick at $2.9 million / year than $1.6 million. Especially if they are a top 15 team and hoping to contend. They want that extra money for free agents. The Charlotte pick can be seen as very valuable if it conveys this year because it will be between 20 and 30. A great pick for a contending team to fill out their roster or for a rebuilding team to take a flyer on a high risk, high reward guy (developmental athlete).
  12. So if salaries didn't matter, I'd be 70/30 on that deal. Simmons > Collins as a player. Assuming chemistry doesn't suffer, yes I do it. The problem isn't just the salaries matching for trade purposes, its they need to match closer for our own purposes. There is a 6 million difference in those salaries that the Hawks would be absorbing and that would push us into the LT and limit what we could do in the coming years. You aren't just trading away Collins and Dieng in that scenario, you are also trading away $6 million in another player (upgrade or individual). The roster spot trading both for 1 creates means we need another player. It limits what we can bring in by $6 million. So you're getting 1 less good player on the roster as well. That evens the deal more for me and makes it harder to swallow.
  13. Media has been recycling rumors for about 9 days now. There are things stirring in the background but I haven't been told anything is imminent. I believe (I do not know nor have I been told) that the Grant stuff is just hype to hold Morey's feet to the fire and to get others to up their offer on Grant.
  14. They are both fairly new to the org. You wouldn't hear drivel like that until this point year two at the earliest unless it was something serious.
  15. What is the barometric pressure? Head wind or tail wind? Is there a girl swallow chasing him?
  16. Technically, Collins, Bogi, Gallo is more than enough at $61 million+.
  17. Technically we'd have to send out a minimum of $55,200,000 in matching salaries (Salaries x 125%+100,000). $55,200,000x1.25=$69,000,000. Simmons+Harris = $68,999,886.
  18. So trade rules are applied at the time of trade based on current salary projections. The final cap number at the end of the season is the number used for calculating the tax. So in theory, you could waive a player before the deadline to remove part of their salary from your team salary in order to calculate the cap/tax to avoid the LT. But at the time of trades, the numbers are what they are. Thought I'd drop this here again in case anyone confuses the 2.
  19. Didn't finish my thought. Tax payer team rules is 125% + 100,000.
