  1. Tell that to Morey and Brand. I report, you decide. I'm not making any money off of this. I'm just free to talk about it since its been leaked to the media now. If you'd prefer not to hear anything, let me know. I can arrange it. But if you have a problem with me saying it or @bleachkit for that matter, you can argue with Mark Spears and Brian Windhorst (which I already linked earlier). Lastly, when I said he isn't worth $40 million I wasn't saying he made exactly $40 million nor would a reasonable person extract I was giving his exact salary. When an exact salary is needed, I provide it. Usually in the form of cut/paste. If you'd prefer I change it $47 million, I think the logic of "he isn't worth that" still stands. Its like when you argue with a guy on the internet and he thinks he won the argument because he corrects your punctuation, "how can you believe a word this guy says, he didn't include the period within the parenthesis". Just read the now official rumor from ESPN on the rumors section of hoopshype as of 4 hours ago. " Sixers want to package Tobias Harris with Ben Simmons The Philadelphia 76ers have begun to attach Tobias Harris to their trade discussions of Ben Simmons, according to Brian Windhorst and Marc J. Spears of ESPN. Harris signed a five-year, $180 million deal with the 76ers during the 2019 offseason. “I’m hearing they want to include Tobias Harris,” said Spears of Philadelphia’s trade talks with the Atlanta Hawks. “Me too,” replied Windhorst. “That is the word out there because they can’t necessarily get an All-Star they want in return right now, as the Sixers have continued their talks, they’ve talked to teams about trading Tobias and Ben.” 4 hours ago – via RealGM Top Rumors, Trade, Ben Simmons, Tobias Harris, Atlanta Hawks, Philadelphia 76ers"
  2. This season and next is a player option (which he'll most probably take unless he thinks he can get another 4 year deal north of 100 million). Try reading what I wrote again. It becomes an expiring deal after this season (ie...1.5 years left), maybe 1/2 a year. But Wall is still a quality point guard. He's better than Schröder, that's for danged sure. He's just not worth 40 mil. However, Philly has $69-$79 million tied up in Harris/Simmons through 2024. With Embiid and their other pieces, that's $70 million they could use to buy a championship. Let me explain it this way. Philly has more tied up in Harris/Simmons than we have in Capela/Collins/Huerter...$13 million/year more and Simmons isn't playing.
  3. Wall is an expiring next season which means they can flip him after the season to a team rebuilding or looking for a 1 year rental.
  4. Missed the question on Wall. Wall hasn't suited up for Houston all year as they've looked for a trade partner. Last year for Houston he was 20ppp, 7 assists in 32 minutes shooting 40% from the field and 32% from 3.
  5. Because Simmons is never suiting up for Philly again and Harris is very overpaid....Like $15 mil/year overpaid. They can't get better without moving on.
  6. Weird as this sounds, Houston makes out best in this deal.
  7. You hold Wall for the year and then trade him in a salary dump to a team wanting an expiring in the offseason. Wall opts in next season but for a rebuilding team, its a way to absorb 1 year salary to dump long contracts. Philly does it to be done with the Ben saga and to get out from the cap crushing Harris contract. Basically Philly is able to flip the Simmons/Harris contracts for Bogi + 2x 20 mil players next year. Houston does it for picks, to waive Gallo at the end of the season for only a $5million hit and go free agent shopping.
  8. https://hoopshype.com/rumor/sixers-want-to-package-tobias-harris-with-ben-simmons/ Excellent, now that this is out of the bag, I can spill. This is the counter. To take back Gallo, they want to dump Harris. Also, Houston has the interest in Gallo and would be happy to be done with John Wall. I am not saying this is the deal though Cooper's name is one I've heard. Let me share this: Feel free to discuss and there would undoubtedly be picks involved. http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=y6bcaym8
  9. Lets be clear though, Bennett didn't "win" us that game. That game was won 2 places. The front 7 got inside Young's head all night and sped up his internal clock and late 3rd, early 4th (can't remember) there as a drive that started with 3 straight runs by Zamir White where he looked like a man wanting to hurt someone. White willed 2 first downs and then a 4th on that drive. White and the offensive line on the drive that put us back in front won that game. The Refs tried to steal it, but White would not be denied. White and Dean won that game through leadership as much as play.
  10. and that's the rub really. Healthy Hunter is really valuable. He's a championship piece. Pay him what he could be worth/will command and he rides the bench icing his knees and he's the weight around a team's neck. If healthy, he's not going anywhere. Not healthy and the only teams taking him are rebuilding teams willing to wait on his knees to heal or needing someone to sell tickets on.
  11. More than once! Man I hate talking about players like that. They are human beings....but it is what it is.
  12. Hunter is like the hot girl at the party with tons of drama and a crazy ex boyfriend. Man she's beautiful and you'd like to take a run at that but you have to ask yourself if its worth the trip to the emergency room.
  13. Yah I don't know if he can show that by the trading deadline.
  14. FYI, Both Cam and Huerter are seen as higher value right now than Hunter due to his health concerns. Teams do not want to take the risk of trading for Hunter and having to pay him based on the limited sample when they don't know where his health will be long term. Expect Hunter to stay with the Hawks for better or for worse.
  15. Current year + average of salary of new contract = salary for purposes of salary matching in trades.....and you're welcome!
  16. On Kev and Cam and how they are seen around the league: As we saw when Trae is out, Kev, Cam and even Bogi's numbers typically go up. With all the great things Trae brings, he does leave the wings out to dry on many offensive sets. The pick n roll game favors the bigs as they set the majority of the picks. Take Trae out of the game and its not necessarily better/winning basketball but it does diversify the offense. Teams see Kev/Cam as > Bogi as a total player. Both are better individual defenders (even if they have room to grow on team/help defense). Both are more athletic, rebound better, cherry pick less. Kevin is probably the 3rd best passer on the team behind Trae/Coop. He's better than Lou Will, better than D. Wright. Teams see both Kev, Cam as a legit 3rd option. More ISO heavy teams prefer Cam, more team oriented teams want Kev. Check that, everyone wants Cam and his potential. Most everyone wants Kev but those that want Kev may want him more. The biggest thing Kevin brings is when Trae is out of control or the team is starting to dive, Kev makes defensive impact plays that turn the momentum or slows the offense down and gets the team back to running sets. He's a get everyone on the same page guy. It goes unnoticed a lot but its great team basketball. Other teams notice and want him for that. It more than a glue guy thing, its a total buy in settle the ship player thing. He keeps the team on track. The only negative with Kev is the new contract is hard to contract match. The poison pill provision with Kevin adds a wrinkle. Kev's new average annual salary is $16,250,000 and his current salary is $4,253,357 meaning for salary matching purposes the Hawks have to take back based off the average of $10 million+. This make sit difficult to trade Kevin without going into the LT. With Cam, to get back similar talent, you don't get Cam salary back. There aren't a lot of $4 million per year players out there that do what Cam does or what he'll be able to do.
  17. That's pretty close to the deal that was most recently discussed and Philly is balking. They don't see a fit for Gallinari on the team. They want a big who moves without the ball well. They would love a Collins, Reddish + package but the money doesn't favor the Hawks (too little salary going out) and the Hawks aren't "done" on Reddish yet. If they move Reddish and or Collins, there are 28 other teams all wanting to get in on that mix. Don't kid yourselves because of the free throw shooting. Simmons is a beast, 25 and worth every penny but Philly is also over a barrel with the prospect of another wasted season. If they could get 75% value for Simmons, they are East contenders again...as long as it fills their holes. They aren't looking for the greatest deal, they're looking for a great fit. League word is a pairing of Simmons, Young scares the league to death. Teams already spending wee hours looking at ways to contain Trae. A legit 2nd ball handler on the floor with him or with him off the floor means no rest for the wicked. A small ball lineup with Capela and Hunter at the 5/4, Trae, Huerter(or Reddish), Simmons at the 1/2/3 means 3 legit wing defenders on the floor at once and Simmons defense influence on a team cannot be understated. The Hawks rumor leaks are a Philly last ditch effort to get other teams to up their offers for the right mix of players. How big of an impact can Simmons have. 2020-21 season...Philly had a 681 winning percentage. This year, .590. Lots of things play in to that but its the difference between the 1 seed and the 5th. Its 7+ wins per year on an already good team. That's a pretty big impact for a player with only 4 seasons under his belt.
  18. Atlanta's potential deal with Philly is very similar to what I floated back mid December. Gallo/Bogi + protected 1st for Simmons. Sticking point, Philly doesn't see enough minutes to justify Gallo and they've hinted at wanting Cooper as well. What Philly wants doesn't work salary wise and is a little rich talent wise but they are talking and have been talking since early December (started off very casual). They have concerns that Gallo would slow their current play style too much. They already have a number of slow ISO players and have a defensive identity that Gallo doesn't fit. Why Gallo/Bogi and not others.? Salary. Atlanta is adamant about a fairly even trade of salaries to keep themselves out of the LT this year. They do not want repeat offender status next year. Why not Collins? Need a few days for him to be tradeable with the new contract. Hunter/Reddish - hard to match salaries and get value. You have to throw a few of these young players in to match a vet stars salary. There is real concern around the league about Hunter's health/knees.
  19. Danillo Gallinari: 'I'd love to remain in Atlanta for the remainder of the season' Interviewed by Sky Sport, Danilo Gallinari said that he would love to remain with the Hawks for the remainder of the season. There were rumors about his possible trade in the past days. “I am ready to stay and I would love to remain for the remainder of the season because a change of a team is never easy, for several reasons. But anything can happen” Gallinari said. 3 hours ago – via Sportando Top Rumors, Trade, Danilo Gallinari, Atlanta Hawks
  20. I ain't gone, but I needed a break for sure. The NBA as a whole. I've been watching a bit more since I started posting again but last night's game was difficult. I keep watching the rooks sit and us lose and I scratch my head. There is no way you can convince me that A) Cooper couldn't do a better job initiating the 2nd team offense and B) that the defense would be that much worse with JJ/Cooper on the floor.
  21. Anyone got the text of the Mark Stein article he referenced? Just the Hawks stuff.
  22. I talked about this like 2 years ago when explaining why you'll hear us say "I've been sitting on this rumor for 2 weeks". That right there tells me you're legit. Rumor types: 1. You're told directly X,Y,Z is happening with no preconditions. Meaning you are free to tell anyone you want, just don't reveal the source. Usually this is to apply pressure to the sides finalizing pieces to not back out. But can also be because it is going to happen but the teams can't comment on it yet. So it gets leaked to drum up media/marketing buzz. Facts, trading for a player ups ticket sales, television viewership. 2. You're told directly X,Y,Z might be happening, you are okay to talk about it but realize this isn't a done deal. Meaning, they are trying to gauge fanbase support. If it creates buzz on the internet, the team who leaked might be more likely to act. 3. You're told X,Y,Z might go down, but do not talk about it. I'm serious, I'll cut you off if I see this on any of your socials." Source has something hot but revealing it could quash the deal, get agents involved, cause problems, get competing teams involved, upset the fanbase, upset the player who you might get stuck with if it falls apart. Typically this means the deal is tenuous and the negotiations are stiff...Team B is having to be convinced by your team its in their best interest to act now. The last thing you want is a competing offer or a pissed off fanbase. Option 3 is what gets you cut off from gossip. So I talked about this before but one of my older sources talked about a marketing guy who was tasked to come up with marketing materials for a major sports franchise. One deal fell through and he had been the one leaking stories himself to reporters. He lost his job. When its not a done deal and its a risky trade...usually stars on both sides involved, it gets hushed.
  23. You might wanna go back and read my posts from a few weeks ago.
