  1. This! If we hear it, you can be for damn sure the 28 NBA GMs not in the deal are hearing it and trying to jump in if they think they can improve their roster. If we're talking with Memphis (hypothetical), then Memphis has talked about that same player with 10 other GMs to gauge his value. Sometimes they get 80% of the way to making a trade then the guy in Portland throws them a curveball. That happens more than it doesn't. The difference here this time around is the Hawks are pushing the agenda instead of having teams call them. IE Hawks will be moved, the question is to whom. Right now Minny is the main flyer but Miami, Houston, Memphis, NO, LA, SA and a few others have all been in on serious conversations. Another FYI, Charlotte is really active right now as well.
  2. There are always "what happened behind closed doors" media stories that drop 3-5 days after the trade deadline. You and I have shared things (either overtly or covertly) on the boards for quite a while now and how much of that ends up in those media stories is very easy to compare. Those stories are usually the teams doing damage control when a trade doesn't go down and the player has hurt feelings (or does go down but player x was rumored but player y is who is included) or the team trying to to reassure the fan base there is a hand on the wheel.
  3. So a word on holding info and credibility. I got the generic info I previously shared and questioned. I got the above info/update Monday. But when I heard from another person a very similar story today is when I started reaching out to people, got some confirmation (FYI, a third version of the same info) I reached out to Supes who seemed to have another version of the same story. I'm assuming he did similar due diligence before posting. I hear a good bit and try to vet it before sharing due to obvious fears for my own credibility. Sometimes works both ways. You hold something that turns out to be true and then can't claim it and you share something you aren't sure about and get burned. With the variance in what I'm hearing (2 people out of market), I'm guessing there is a lot of testing the waters going on right now from TS and other GMs. I'm expecting Social media to blow up tonight or tomorrow. 1 weird note: and I had to get the okay to share this but there is one small point Supes and I differ. I heard that the Lakers would make anyone available at the right price. They have concerns about their internal chemistry. Feelers for both AD and Lebron were floated.
  4. To be clear, there is always variance in what 2 people will get told but I can vouch for at least 80% of what Supes laid out above word for word.
  5. So about a 1/2 hour before Supes broke the above I started talking to people (and him) because I heard almost the exact same thing but was put on a strict "say nothing". Contacted Supes and we started sharing info literally right before he posted. The only other thing I have is teams have asked us about the availability of Cooper as a throw in in any deals.
  6. I'd like to point out the Trade Deadline is a little over a month away but the Hawks have a history of being a "strike first" team, making deals early.
  7. https://hoopshype.com/rumor/1613528/ Social media leaks starting!
  8. He's not saying and I'm not completely buying this. I think he got it from someone who read that article and tried to pass it off as insider info. I usually vet before posting but jumped the gun.
  9. Lakers status is they have either 2023 or 2024 available depending on New Orleans right to swap picks either year. They have 2025 as well.
  10. No and word is this is not where he got it but that doesn't mean it isn't where it came from 2nd hand. The article says they have their 2025 1st.
  11. Well Bullocks. I think I know where he got it. https://www.nbaanalysis.net/2022/01/01/nba-rumors-lakers-hawks-trade-involves-bogdan-bogdanovic/ Waiting on a text back to see if this is where he got it or if a writer is floating something leaked to him.
  12. Finally heard something and its the same thing I've been postulating on since the end of last season. No less than 3 teams have called inquiring about Bogie....Lakers are one of the teams. No idea what they could offer, I haven't looked. With teams starting to figure out where they'll be finishing the season, Gallo is getting some interest as well. These are teams calling the Hawks, not Hawks calling other teams, but the word is we're listening to make it easier to sign Hunter/Cam offseason. Edited: One thought here. Any trade involving the Lakers would almost certainly require a 3rd party.
  13. One second while I adjust my analyst hat.....buckle the chin strap...checks self in mirror....okay good to go. There is a stark difference in Cam with Trae on the floor vs off and the difference isn't "touches" its movement. Trae's game is all based off of screen and roll. In that setting, Cam is often the least likely person to come set the pick...as is Huerter or Dre. Pick n roll works when your big men roll. Capela's inability to pick n pop means the shooters have to stay wide to give Trae opportunities to create and if in trouble dish to the shooters as secondary ball handlers. This takes Cam out of the equation on most offensive sets. Trae, Collins, Capela are so effective in the pick n roll game (and or collins pick n pop) that the highest efficiency chances are in the hands of those 3 players. The Hawks pass on open 3's often because the floater, lob game is there most of the time and is your most efficient shot when you add in the fouls it creates. In Cam's case, Capela on the floor with Collins severely limits Cam's PnR opportunities (even though he'd be a devastating finisher given enough reps). Capela brings a great deal to the Hawks but even life giving rain brings devastating floods. A big criticism of Nique's has been Huerter/Hunter's unwillingness to drive the middle of the lane (something we're seeing more of this year). This is because Capela's inability to vacate the lane effectively leaves a big offering help on any wing driving. It doesn't "look open". Clint's lack of a post game only further complicates this we can't just dump it in to him to work and/or kick it out to create wing space. Its the good vs the bad argument with Clint. He isn't dangerous offensively like Brook Lopez or swiss army knife like Jokic and forces the Hawks to live off the pick n roll with Trae. As long as that's happening, Cam will look different with Trae on the floor.
  14. This....with emphasis! Its why Kevin is driving me crazy this season. He has everything to be the 3rd option and a good one. He has everything to be "the other guy" when Trae's opportunities break down, get trapped. He has to start believing in himself and demanding those opportunities. Kevin is a nice guy, to a fault. I want to see more out of him....more self belief, more cockiness, more hutzpah.
  15. On queue, JJ had a monster game last night.
  16. I wanted him 10 minutes a night for an inside threat and some thuggery when needed. I think he's got plenty of both left in him.
  17. So where has Camp been (asked a bewildered @Kg01)? I honestly needed a break. Not from the board, but from the NBA. That first few weeks of the season watching the NBA turn into Rugby and ball handling craftsman like Trae not getting any calls, forget the foul hunting took a lot of joy out of the game for me. It was ugly. I watched Trae get decked a few times to open the season (with no call) and my blood was boiling. But about 10 games in, I took a few games off....completely. First time in maybe 6 years I didn't watch back to back games. I've popped in back and forth but between the muscled up play in response to the lighter ref whistle and the way we're losing games, I took some time off. I'm not necessarily back now and I am following things but this was a tough first 1/4 of the season to watch. Thoughts I'm tiring of the logo 3's. There are better shots to be had, we need to start taking them. Making other teams play 5 man defense. At the beginning of the year, I pined for Demarcus Cousins to fill out the bench. I'm feeling vindicated. I am onboard with bringing JJ up and giving him real minutes (defense be damned). I checked his College Parks stats today. He is average 19/11/3.5 with 1.2 steals and 1.1 blocks per game. He has very little left to prove in the GLeague. Last year about this time I bagged on Bogi and he started to show out. Time to do that with D Wright. IMHO, he gets his act together or Shariffe/Skylar get minutes. I didn't like the Cabarrot signing when we did it. Didn't like it when he was on the bench. Really don't like it now that he's playing. Teams have figured out our schemes involving Trae and CC and are starting to exploit it. Our defensive scheme here sucks and teams know it. Someone needs to start slapping Kevin Huerter before every game to piss him off. I'm really tired of him looking like Hulk Hogan one night and Lady Elizabeth the next. Kevin has the skills to be a number 3 option in this league and he might just be too nice for the gig. I don't care how good Dre is when healthy if he's only healthy 20 games a year. Usually around this time I have some trade suggestions or hear some rumblings and share them with the board. Nothing right now. This is what it is unless someone offers us a way to better ourselves. The team is not about to mortgage their cap position to salvage the present. Ownership is still thinking long term and quite frankly, I'm peeved.
  18. Its not that simple. Missing a 3 is also more likely to lead to a transition basket due to long rebounds. 3's cause more long rebounds and cause more fast break opportunities. Making 3's = winning. Missing 3's accelerates losing.
  19. So the problem here is easily solved by trade with the choice seeming to be between Hunter who can't stay healthy and Huerter who has a definite ceiling. Although Kevin was given the big contract, it is very tradable and he would look very nice on a developing team. Dre has a much higher ceiling but his health concerns really limit our ability to commit to him long term like we did with Kevin. Dre is a good trade piece to a team needing someone to get them over the hump this year and needs 3-D off the bench. If Cam stays healthy, he's flashed enough to say the Hawks will commit to him long term. IMHO, either Hunter is the odd man out or they move Bogi a season early. Of the 4 wings, Bogi's defense is the most suspect and his streaky shooting can kill you come playoff time. I think there is a real possibility that Gallo and Bogi's salaries together take a star quality piece off of another squad come playoff time. Maybe someone who can play the 2 full time as a starter next to Trae. Regardless, IMHO, the only one of the 4 who won't be moved is Cam and it will probably come down to Bogi/Hunter, maybe as early as the trade deadline.
  20. I liked the warmups, hated the Uniforms. Bring back the MLKs.
  21. The East's record is 36-31 to start out the season. The West is 28-33. Early signs the West may no longer be best.
  22. If you have a problem with it...take it up with NBA.COM
