  1. to be clear, technically trading away Bruno offers little in salary relief except a free slot. You'd get more trading them for other players because you can take back 125%.
  2. as long as you have Knight and Mays as holds, they are those min cap holds.
  3. FYI, those Mays and Knight salaries would be a tick higher but I left them be in case we swap out Knight, sign Mays to the roster or replace both.
  4. Post Draft Hawks Cap situation Okay, what we have and I included JJ's salary as he will sign to the rookie salary scale at slot 20. Rostered players Danilo Gallinari $20,475,000 Bogdan Bogdanovic $18,000,000 Clint Capela $17,103,448 De'Andre Hunter $7,775,400 Trae Young $8,326,471 Onyeka Okongwu $6,104,280 Kris Dunn $5,005,350 Cam Reddish $4,670,160 Kevin Huerter $4,253,357 Jalen Johnson - Hawks 2021 First Round Pick $2,659,680 Bruno Fernando $1,782,621 $96,155,767 Technically 11 players under contract. Holds Tony Snell $18,267,857 Lou Williams $15,200,000 John Collins $12,411,906 Brandon Goodwin $2,116,290 Solomon Hill $1,669,193 Nathan Knight $1,489,065 Skylar Mays $1,489,065 Total $52,643,376 Exceptions Non-Taxpayer Mid-Level Exception $9,535,000 Bi-Annual Exception $3,303,327 Note: We only qualify for both exceptions once we officially sign someone to go over the cap but not into the LT. Projected Signings: Collins $25,000,000 2021 (I'm just guessing here). Cooper $925k (rookie minimum). Skylar Mays $925k (rookie minimum). Nathan Knight $925k (rookie minimum). (note: 2 of these 3 will be on 2 way contracts). This brings the total under contract to 13 + 2 two ways. There are 2 slots left. This gives the Hawks 1 player to take the NTMLE and 1 to take the BAE. Notes: Collins' cap hold of 12 million and the cap holds of Knight, Mays is a total cap hold of $15.4 million. with Atlanta's current salaries, that's $111.6 million. The projected Cap is $112.4. There is very little incentive (barring a trade) to not resign Knight and Mays and just sign Collins early. As long as those 3 exceptions exist, we are limited to effectively 1 vet level minimum contract before breaking the cap barrier. Waiving both Mays and Knight gives us a little less than $5 million in practical cap space. There are no games to play here without a trade to clear up cap space or Collins signing elsewhere.
  5. LOL I was just starting work on the state of the Hawks Cap post draft edition.
  6. The good news @KG01 and @Spud2nique is that after watching the videos, I'm confident he doesn't need a Yoga instructor.
  7. So watching the videos I'm only seeing 1 real mechanical flaw but I'm noticing something else. So he is a smidge late on his release meaning he's pushing the ball more with his hands than he needs to. which brings me to point two. Holy hell this cat is strong. The exact opposite of draftee Cam with core strength. He is not shooting completely with his legs, he's barely flicking the wrist and still putting tons behind the ball. He's got a really strong core, has worked on his joint strength (rare for a 19/20 year old). He has way less to work on than Cam with his shot. Way less. Release point in the jump is pretty much all I could honestly critique.
  8. I could not find anything but he wasn't asked to go before medical like Butler so that's a good thing.
  9. So I did some research on Jalen's health issue. Back in December 2020, Jalen suffered an undisclosed foot injury. He wore a protective boot while out and came back about 5 weeks later. He played in 6 games after coming back and in his first full game back scored 24 pts, 16 reb, 7 assists. His foot issues returned with some soreness and swelling affecting his production over the next 5 games and then 2 more games where they reduced his minutes. This and fear over COVID pre-draft led him to get with Coach K. The decision to shut him down came from both Coach K and Jalen. He wanted time to heal before workouts for the draft. Duke and its coaching staff aided in the decision and agree it was in his best interest. Regardless of his permanently shutting it down, the coaching staff was planning to shut him down temporarily anyway to prepare for the tournament. The decision was a team decision to shut him down for 3 more weeks or to just shut it down for the tournaments as well. This was so he could skip attending practices all together and let the foot rest. Per reports, it was his choice to skip it all together but it wasn't a "quit" scenario, it was an attempt to let him heal for the draft. So bright spot, he was hurt and putting up 13/8 while playing hurt in games he played 20+ minutes. Other bright spot is he was focused on his NBA future. Negative was did he let his team down but it isn't as cut and dry as "he quit". He was going to be shut down regardless, the only question was if he would be available again for the postseason tourneys.
  10. I'm still sitting here this morning trying to figure out how we just swung that. Jalen I get. It's stupid on the part of 10 other teams but I get it. But Cooper is not a late 2nd round talent...WTF. How can 29 other GMs be this monumentally stupid?
  11. So Jalen's stats are skewed by being only a 13 game sample and playing 15 minutes or less in 4 games. I decided throw those games out as outliers and only count the 9 games he played 20 or more minutes in. MP 26.2 PPG 13.78 RPG 8.44 APG 3.11 SPG 1.33 BPG 1.67 TO 2.78 FG% 55% 3P% 37 That's a better representation of the player 13.8/8.4 with handles, defense and stretch 4 capability.
  12. Riddle me this...how do you get a top 5 talent and a top 16 talent without making a trade when you own picks 20 and 48? With crazy eyes. I'm not really sure where I am right now.
  13. That's a very fair comparison. Very similar smoothness to his game with the ball. Better shooter but prefers to go at the basket. His game might translate better in the pros with no zone. He's really hard to handle off the dribble if he's already moving. Just like Ben.
  14. I'm not sure he gets past 36 but I've been pining for him all week. IMHO the steal of the draft. What he does translates at every level of basketball.
  15. So if I'm being honest, I was so sure he was going earlier that when they started talking about us taking him at the round table, I was like wait, didn't he get taken already? He's good enough the thought of him being there at 20 wasn't even a thought. https://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/nba-mock-draft-2021-complete-two-round-projections-for-all-60-picks-starting-with-cade-cunningham-at-no-1/ Had him going 13. https://www.nbcsports.com/washington/wizards/2021-nba-mock-draft-90-final-mock-two-round-edition Had him going 12. https://nbadraft.theringer.com/mock-draft O'Conner had him going 16. It's fantastic value at 20.
  16. Yah, he's a top 5 natural talent but leaving Duke dropped his stock. He's better than 10 players picked ahead of him. Its great value at 20.
  17. Plays with Confidence. Smoothness to his game for a player so big. Capable but not willing shooter. Prefers to go at the glass. Sometimes takes the harder of 2 shots. Elite athleticism, Needs to improve as a playmaker but a very difficult cover in transition, motion.
  18. No character issues. He's going to fill out that frame down the road two. He's going to play bigger than he is. Gamble pick but one we can afford. Pretty sure Kai Jones was our pick there if Charlotte doesn't jump the line (and why they jumped up at 19).
  19. Butler still there. Jackson still there.kai Jones still there. Glad I stayed up.
  20. I never thought Sengun would be there at 15.
  21. How long is Sengun gonna last? I'm starting to wonder what we need to do to move up here.
