Premium Member Diesel Posted December 9, 2005 Premium Member Report Share Posted December 9, 2005 It was interesting that a lot of people tended to believe the "experts" this year about the type of players that certain guys would become. For instance... Marvin would be great. Villanueva will be a bust especially at 7. Frye is too soft. Paul is too small. Bogut will be the next Duncan. and so on and so fourth. I know that a lot of these opinions effected the opinions of those who come to the squawk... and I wonder how much of an effect it had on GMs? The next big thing is Oden. I'm actually glad that Stern put the age thing in this year. Oden will have to go to college and do it on that level. Last night, I watched some of the game he played. It was a physical game and he had a dominate statline, but I would say that he was overly impressive. I was impressed by his free throw shooting which is a lot in my book... However, his competition looked like he was 6'6" out there. Oden is just big and strong. The question is how will he play when he faces other big and strong players? I hope he is good. However, back to my rant. Charlie V. has had star written across his back for years. It was excessively stupid for Stephen Smith to claim this guy to be a bust while Charlie V. is recieving his hat. The same is true for Bilas and Josh Smith the year before. These guys like Stephen A., Majerus, and Bilas are never called on their predictions and commentary.
