herschel4heisman
This is from draftexpress.com Donta Smith (Arkansas Rimrockers, Atlanta Hawks) Per Game Stats: 3.7 points, 2.7 rebounds, 1 assist, 2.7 turnovers, 25% FG Smith, used in only 6 games by the Atlanta Hawks this season, was sent to receive the playing time that was not available to him at the NBA level. Smith has only played 17 minutes per game in his three appearances with the Rimrockers, and has not found the flow of the offense. In his best game, Smith had 3 assists to go with his 7 points in 22 minutes. It should be interesting to see if Donta progresses his game enough in the D League to find some minutes on a team stacked with young wing players. thesheedera
I think it would be interesting to see Marvin play in the D-League for a month or so, and see if he comes back to the NBA with a little more confidence.
exodus
I would have no problem with Marvin being sent down, since he clearly isn't making any progress where he is.
KB21
Marvin would dominate the D-League, but we would lose one of our best rebounders and jump shooters by moving him down. It's best to keep him with the team, keep him in the rotation, and let him find his role with this team at this time.
exodus
Quote: but we would lose one of our best rebounders and jump shooters On the season Marvin is averaging 5 points and 4 rebounds in 22 minutes per game. He is shooting 39% from the field. He has contributed nothing.
TheDude
so what...but he will... i would think that the criticism of marvin williams would be the LAST thing people would criticize...again seeing as EVERYONE KNEW it would take time to develop him. exodus
So were were supposed to know he would give us 5 points and 4 rebounds, shooting 39% from the field? They could go down to Run-And-Shoot and find a guy who could give them that. He was supposed to be a guy who could play the 3 or the 4 but he has yet to show any post game or any moves off the dribble.

exodus
No but I was expecting his skills to be more developed than Josh Smith, especially since Smith came out straight from high school. Unfortunately that is not the case. Smith was much more productive last year than Marvin is right now.
thesheedera
What was Josh averaging after 20 games last year?
exodus
Quote: What was Josh averaging after 20 games last year? Last november Josh was only getting 12 minutes a game, averaging 4 pts and 2 rebounds. In december he got 25 minutes a game and scored 9.6 ppg on 50% shooting, along with 6 rebounds and 2 blocks. So far Marvin has been getting 22 minutes a game.
Nicholasp27
haven't you learned by now that confidence is a big thing with the youngsters? smoove had his blocks that gave him confidence which in turn increased his offensive production just like as chill's confidence went up last year (and then this year), he did better right now marvin's shot hasn't been falling (though we all know he's an EXCELLENT shooter with a VERY QUICK release), so he's lacking confidence...he's not like slim who always has confidence no matter how poorly he's doing we knew this would be a project and a long-term solution, not a 2005-2006 solution
exodus
I think a lack of confidence and a lack of skill go hand in hand. Have you seen him make any good moves off the dribble or in the posts? Any at all? Is it lack of confidence that is getting half his shots in the lane blocked, or lack of skill? Anyway I am tired of talking about him. I am going to refrain from discussing Marvin until he actually does something worth talking about.
