Admin chillzatl Posted February 1, 2006 Admin Report Share Posted February 1, 2006 nothign particular bad there. But honesty hurts. We need an PG and there doesn't SEEM to be a top flight, NBA ready point coming out this year. Same thing for bigs. But I will say this. Almost every year at this time, people like Burns bemoan the upcoming draft becuase of a lack of star potential players. And every time in the following season we find that there were 4-5 players that were legit, NBA ready talent. It just shows that these guys don't know as much as their jobs might suggest. Most of the time they are just guessing like the rest of us.

Lascar78
what's even funnier is that it seems to have the same ebb and flow every year (except with special phenoms like lebron coming in). A year ahead, people think it will be average, come february they think it will be horrible, after march madness they think maybe it won't be so bad after all, and as the draft gets nearer, everyone goes nuts over the very top prospects and just how good they could be. Pretty funny really

Pretty funny really Yeah...almost makes one think trading down that top pick for two chances at a winner would be the better startegy.
sinctybldh
so what? we suck one more year and then we get Oden. I would take a front line of Williams, Aldridge and Oden.

We are going to have to suck pretty badly because we owe the pick to the Suns otherwise!

sinctybldh
Well we get a top 3 pick then the Suns don't get the pick. Maybe that is good enough reason to keep Woodson here another year?
Packfill
That is an interesting take but no way are the Hawks that lucky, and I don't know if I can stomach another year and a half of futility.

Moderators AHF Posted February 2, 2006 Moderators Report Share Posted February 2, 2006 Does anyone seriously think Oden is going outside of the top 3?
Lascar78
I can't see him not being the #1 pick. His going top 3 is basically a fact

We will have to get lucky but will probably have a shot at him.
Plainview1981
Yeah, cause Billy pretty much wasted the picks just for the rights to sign somebody to a 70 million contract. Way to go Billy.
TheDude
we won't be that bad enough to get a top 3 pick...he traded those picks because he doesn't expect us to be in the race for oden, just like we weren't for james
Lascar78
I doubt that we're bottom 3, but milwaukee wasn't bottom 3 last year either. If we get lucky in the lottery, we're protected
Seano
Man.....it seems like we just have the misfortune to be historically terrible in years when there's not a consensus #1 player who is clearly head and shoulders above everyone else. Therefore, it's more of rolling the dice, crossing your fingers, and hoping you picked the right guy.
VDiLetto
wow, that 2000 draft sure was weak compared to 1999.
