Premium Member mrhonline Posted February 3, 2006 Premium Member Report Share Posted February 3, 2006 Looks like Toronto traded a 1st rounder (probably the Denver pick) + Jalen Rose for Antonio Davis (will he be released?). New York now has no use for Al next year. That's one of the major S&T options gone... ...Will Al be next?

KB21
He just traded a player who is in the final year of his contract for a player that is owed roughly $17 million on his deal for next season. Not only that, but there is currently some speculation that Isiah is looking to move one of his rookies, David Lee, to Portland for Theo Ratliff.....The same Theo Ratliff that is owed roughly $24 million over the next TWO seasons. Isiah is burying this team. They have no friggin hope of ever adding legitimate talent to that team, because he keeps dealing away potential salary cap space and high draft picks for mediocre players with bad contracts. thesheedera
I think he still secretly hates the Knicks after his playing days and he's working for the Pistons to keep them dominant. He tried to destroy Indiana but they figured him out. Now he's posted in NY keeping the biggest market weak.
Premium Member Diesel Posted February 3, 2006 Premium Member Report Share Posted February 3, 2006 You did notice that he got back a player who is well liked by the current coach and will make a good backcourt mate to both Marbury and Robinson... And he got a first round pick?? You can't have it both ways. Capspace means absolutely nothing to NY. NY needs talent. Rose is talent. The first (if you follow Zeke's track record in the draft) is talent. He's picking em better than BK!
exodus
Yeah Isiah sure is a genius. Another bloated contract for a vet who can't play a lick of defense. Just what they need. They are in such good shape that they are a whopping one game ahead of the Hawks with 3 times the payroll.
KB21
I think so, because he is certainly doing everything humanly possible to destroy the future of that franchise. They will never be able to get out from underneath the contracts he has saddled them with. They have no ability to sign a free agent outright. They have no ability to do a sign and trade to get a free agent, because no one wants anything they have on the team except for the young players that Isiah is obviously willing to give up. Lee, Ariza, and Robinson are the only players that have that has any trade value.
Premium Member Diesel Posted February 3, 2006 Premium Member Report Share Posted February 3, 2006 Yep. Another first round pick... That could turn out to be as good as: C. Frye or D. Lee. Damn that Isiah!
KB21
.....the Hawks have turned over 100% of their roster since the end of the 2003-2004 season. Billy should call up Isiah. They might be willing to give us Trevor Ariza for Tony Delk.

Toronto sent a pick because it gets Rose off the books for next year. They should be under the cap enough to re-sign James and a veteran center. New York was searching for another quick fix. Premium Member Diesel Posted February 3, 2006 Premium Member Report Share Posted February 3, 2006 So for the last 4 months you belly ache that he traded away his first rounder for a legitimate big man. Now you are crying because he traded away an ending contract for a first rounder?? Damn, there's no pleasing you guys. I see it like this... If he would have held on to Davis, how would it have made the future any brighter?? With Davis' contract gone, NY is still over the cap next year?? You're just bellyaching for nothing.. IN fact, BK did the very same thing when he traded Rasheed Wallace for a bunch of contracts and a first... or when he traded JT/Hendu for Walker/Delk... Well one thing that makes me feel good...our vet who can't play a lick of defense (Al), doesn't have a bloated contract! (wait a minute? It isn't my money...what do I care?) KB21
Plus, it's probably a conditional pick that New York will never even see. They will package it in a deal to get another bloated contract.
exodus
Those young guys they have haven't been helping much. Over their last 10 games they have an average point differential of -13.9 ppg. They have laid down and quit, not very long after you proclaimed them to be for real after their winning streak.
