Premium Member mrhonline Posted March 20, 2006 Premium Member Report Share Posted March 20, 2006 Al Harrington is currently averaging 19/7 (although he's played much better since the break). Current players averaging around (or more than) 19/7, and the average yearly salary of their current deals: Richard Jefferson 12.7M Zach Randolph 14.0M Dirk Nowitzki 13.4M Pau Gasol 14.3M Antawn Jamison 13.4M Chris Webber 17.5M Elton Brand 13.7M Tim Duncan 17.5M Shawn Marion 13.2M Kevin Garnett 20.0M LeBron James (rookie scale) Chris Bosh (rookie scale) After looking at that list, I'm beginning to think that 6 years, $60M ($10M per) is the low end for Al Harrington. It wouldn't shock me to see the Bulls offer him a max deal, especially since they gave 6/$64M to Chandler.
swolehawk2
As long as we don't sign him I don't care what he gets.

IMO, Randolph and Jamison are the only guys who are remotely comparable to Harrington on that list. I don't see how anyone could expect to find anything useful in comparing KG's or Duncan's, etc. salaries to Harrington's. The difference in their games are painfully obvious, IMO. I would be shocked to see Harrington end up with a maximum offer, but we'll see.
Premium Member Diesel Posted March 20, 2006 Premium Member Report Share Posted March 20, 2006 I doubt the Bulls offer the max without trying to do a SNT because they lack a C... They need a C most of all.

Lascar78
you have to factor in the age of the players though as NBA salaries increase etc... I think that Al will initially hold out for the max, and end up taking 11-12 mil a year. If we re-sign him for more than 10 mil per year I will be pissed
Premium Member mrhonline Posted March 20, 2006 Author Premium Member Report Share Posted March 20, 2006 I agree, Lascar. I think the Hawks will S&T Al to a team so that they can give him 6 years AND get a slight discount. Say, 6 years, $65M (which starts at just over $8M in the first year). DJlaysitup
Agreed Lascar...I'd put him a step below the max contract level player...he could be a real impact player on a team that needs what he brings though. Lascar78
yeah I think the only legit thread of him just bailing is Chicago, but I don't know how much they'd be willing to pay him. Who knows these days? Isiah would certainly be willing to give him the $$$ he wants, but will he be willing to give up Frye?

Jamison was traded for very little to Dallas because he was overpaid. The Blazers would love to be able to give away Randolph at this point. Both contracts are considered mistakes in the industry.
