Premium Member Diesel Posted April 6, 2006 Premium Member Report Share Posted April 6, 2006 The end of the game was probably the funniest moment I have seen in a while. It shows that Minny is not coached as well as the Hawks. Minny had problems Boxing out all night.. But on the last play, Ricky Davis and whoever the other guard was was talking... Chillz got a run out and beat Trenton Hassell down court. If you watch, Chillz came from across court actually past Ricky Davis (on the drive)... And Chillz wasn't that far ahead of the defense... BUT chillz is not as slow as he is called here on Hawksquawk...
1524
I dont think the last play had anything the do with bad coaching on Dwayne Casey's part. Actually it was a sign of good coaching, he drew up a great play and got the matchup he wanted when he got Rickey Davis to come off a screen and go 1 on 1 with the slower ZaZa pachulia. I think that the Timberwolves need to know to get back on defense. You dont need to be coached on that.
Lascar78
yeah I can't blame that one on coaching either. I blame it on Ricky Davis being a knucklehead and celebrating instead of getting back, while Chill darted off and we got a little lucky. great win, but I can't attribute this one to bad coaching on their part
exodus
Ordinarily teams would automatically call a timeout in that situation. Clearly Woody told them not to. He obviously said that if Minny scored to just try to beat them down the court.
Gray Mule
This play had already been practiced before the game and was in their "Bag of tricks" Josh C. said in an inerview after the game. Actually, Hawks had two players breaking out, Chill on one side and T.L. on the other. Great, quick pass, right on the money. Said he didn't even see T.L. on the other side, but that might have been enough of a distraction for the defense. They didn't know what was happening until it was too late. About not calling time out, I believe that Atlanta was out of time outs at that point. Desperate to score the basket that would tie the game, everyone was crashing the boards if they missed the shot. They didn't miss. That meant there was a moment of "Wow! Great!" on their part. Just enough time to pull it off and win the game!! A gripe: If Hawks had hit their free throws, the game wouldn't have come down to the final, spectacular play. But, a win is a win is a win and we'll take it!!! Premium Member Diesel Posted April 6, 2006 Author Premium Member Report Share Posted April 6, 2006 He got the matchup that he wanted with Ricky Davis because All night they had been using the PG and F to set a double pick for Rick Davis... The problem with this is that if the PG doesn't get back, they are susceptible to being beat by the run out. Which is exactly what happened... I didn't say it was bad coaching by Minny because it was working all night... IN fact, in the 3rd, Davis had his way with the Hawks. However, somebody made an adjustment on that last play. Which was good coaching.
swolehawk2
Woody told them they had no timeouts, then you see JJ huddle the guys up...the first words out of his mouth are "If they score...." McCants actually did not crash the boards he stood there watching the put back and Chillz ran right by him. That pass was perfect though....and Chillz made a smart play by letting it bounce. I love when everybody is involved. A couple of those passes from Smoove to Marvin were great looks. Smoove is developing into a very good basketball player.
