Another inch doesn't matter that much. Weather a guy is 6'8.75" or 6'9.75" doesn't matter especially when you're talking about neck and shoulders. Hell, if you look at Marvin, the only thing that makes him 6'8 is that he has like a 11 inch neck... Does that mean that he plays bigger... Hell no.

When you look at Shelden, this guy plays like he's 7'2". He has the reach of a big Center. He's got the weight of a big guy. He's got the strength of a Big guy. He definitely has a low post skill set.

In Houston, he showed that he had the shooting touch of a Sf. I think this guy is our PF. He's going down to the low post and will Landlord over everything that comes in the post.

Teams won't be able to use quicker PFs to throw us off because then all we will do is put Zaza on the bench, Move Landlord to the C, and play some small ball.

BK like versatility, and this gives us lots of versatility.

Yeah Disel - size matters but it ain't all just about height. Weight and strength is a big part of it. I remember Danny Fortson dominating inside many a game for the Nugs and he was only 6'8" (lordy, if only that fella was a bit smarter with a good attitude - he'da been awesome).

Strength may matter more than we normally think too. You would have to think that carrying over 250 lbs against 4 years of top competition, Shelden likely has a big strength advantage against a guy like O'Bryant, who is just shy of 250 - but may not have nearly the strength/conditioning.

Overrated Ty is just that overrated. Forget any thoughts of getting this guy. We already got Smoove and he is lights year ahead of Ty in development.

this is bad. we wanted Chicago to draft Thomas.

I fully expect they'll still draft him. I'm pretty sure GM's have known these measurements for a few months now. Besides, his wingspan and standing reach are much more important than his height.

the same thing is true of us drafting Shelden.

Every year, NBA Draft fanatics hold their breath in anticipation to see how prospective NBA draftees weigh in at the pre-draft camp. There are those who can single-handedly raise their draft stock simply by being measured as taller than expected or shorter than expected. This year is no different, as impressions of certain players can change with a measuring tape or a scale.

Recently, DraftExpress posted the results of the pre-draft camp measurements and most of the results were as expected, aside from a few glaring outcomes.

Winners:

Ronnie Brewer – Weighing in a 6’7” and 223 pounds, Brewer will be a very unique point forward who should be considered by teams who want to draft a valuable sixth man. Brewer has the ability to play three or even four positions, similar to Boris Diaw. Like Diaw, Brewer is known for his selflessness and court vision.

Jordan Farmar – Measuring at taller than 6’0” was the hope and the result was 6’2”, which certainly will not hurt the stock of the UCLA standout point guard.

Randy Foye – If scouts buy into Foye’s viability as a point guard in the NBA, they should be impressed with his size at 6’3” and 212 pounds. Foye is similar in size to Baron Davis or Chauncey Billups, both of whom (mostly Billups) have been successful NBA point guards.

Patrick O’Bryant – Claims that he’s a project and at a legit 7’0” and 250 pounds, that’s certainly a good start.

Tyrus Thomas – Many expected that he’d be shorter than advertised and wire thin, but Thomas looks to have added nearly 10 pounds to his frame and measured at around his projected height.

Shawne Williams – The freshman out of Memphis measured at a smidge under 6’9” and 227 pounds, which shows up as an NBA-ready body on paper.

Losers:

LaMarcus Aldridge – Teams would have loved to see him put on a few pounds to prove that he could develop a body suited for the center position. He’s just under a legit 7’0” and under 240 pounds, which indicates that he falls just short of the league’s expectation for centers.

Rodney Carney – Has always been listed at 6’7” or 6’8” and for him to measure at under 6’6” is a definite blow to his stock. Carney is a great athlete, but how many successful small forwards in the league are under that height? It reminds me of Jarvis Hayes’s measurements a few years back.

Paul Millsap – For a player with his natural talents, I’m certain that most general managers were hoping that he would reach 6’8”, but Millsap measured below that. Either way, it will be hard for a team that needs rebounding to turn him down.

Adam Morrison – His height was expected, but with his agent recently talking about his desire to gain weight, weighing in at under 200 pounds cannot help his stock, which has recently been soaring. Regardless, Morrison is still the favorite to go at the top pick if the Raptors trade out.

How does his size compare to Camby, Bosh, Dalembert, & Frye?

Just out of curiosity, when asked about your height, do you tell them your height with shoes or without. I always give my height, not the height of me plus my shoes. I guess I should start telling people I'm 6'5" instead of 6'3.5", because I seldom go without shoes in public settings.

One measurement we've all forgotten is "Head Size".

You may laugh but think about it. You spend all night banging around in the paint with a guy...sooner or later you're gonna smack heads with him. Now if it's a normal headed guy it's probably no big deal. On the other hand, if it's a guy who wears a 16 Lb. bowling ball between his shoulders you could get yourself knocked cold.

(They really should do x-rays for "skull thickness" too)
