skaughtybee
http://www.davidandersen.com.au/statistics.html from the Herald Sun... "AUSTRALIA centre David Andersen has confirmed his place as one of Europe's best players by finishing runner-up in the Euroleague MVP award. Media members who voted for the award recognised Andersen's excellent performances for CSKA Moscow, placing him second behind Maccabi Tel Aviv's American guard Anthony Parker. With voting on a 3-2-1 system, Parker received 76 votes, which the Euroleague website reported was more than twice as many as Frankston-raised Andersen. Even so, to finish second in such an award is an excellent achievement for the Boomer, who was named the playoff MVP in Italy last season as he led Siena to the championship. Andersen has already added to his team success, last week helping CSKA to victory in the Russian Cup final over Chris Anstey's Unics Kazan, and other big honours await. Unbeaten in the Russian Superleague, CSKA is a clear favourite to win the domestic championship, while it goes into the Euroleague Final Four on May 6-8 with a big edge given the event is in Moscow. Andersen has averaged 12.4 ppg and 6.6 rebounds in 21 Euroleague games this season and, while not enormous numbers, they have been accumulated on 59.2 per cent field goal shooting in just 23 minutes a game. Andersen has also been nominated for the All-Euroleague team as one of four players in the running for two power forward and/or centre positions in the best-of team to be named at the Final Four weekend. More team success will be paramount for Andersen as CSKA prepares to play Spanish team Tau Ceramica in one Euroleague semi-final, while Maccabi Tel Aviv of Israel will play Panathanaikos of Greece in the other. In beating Unics Kazan, 96-81, in the Russian Cup final, Andersen had eight points and six rebounds off the bench, while Anstey, who is set to join the Melbourne Tigers for next season, finished with 15 points and six rebounds." Packfill
Those stats and accolades mean less considering the other players in the article who are mentioned as doing well (Parker and Antsey) were NBA failures. Hopefully, Anderson will be different.

Final_quest
That's the second time someone posted that article, and I have the same question now that I had then. How does the MVP come of the bench for 8 points and 6 rebounds? The article itself indicates that he is not putting up enormous numbers, but getting good production during his time on the floor. Does that sound like an MVP or all league player? I'd really like a good explanation because something doesn't sound right with the accolades not matching the production. Yeti
I believe that article was from 2005. This year he broke his leg in January, but his team still won the Euroleague championship.
TheDude
plus it seems that the euro leagues are different..many times you see a highly rated guy not get big points..they seem to play a lot more people and go by more than potential...it is odd though.
