Johnnybravo4
Chuck Oliver from 790 just said that the trade will be Al for a first round pick straight up. Not a report but a rumor from his "sources". He says that the hold up is that Al wants 6/60 million and the Pacers are offering 5/50 million. I am trying to figure out is where is the capspace on Indy's part to do that deal?
DJlaysitup
Wow - no immediate help there. I was hoping for a serviceable big.

Another baseless rumor by people who can't even make up a realistic one.
Johnnybravo4
The TE is only 7.5 million. If they were under the cap they wouldn't need the 7.5 exception. I guess that we are in the Wilcox sweepstakes now.

Lascar78
790 is last on my list of credible sources, below peter vescey. Sounds like they read the pacer digest thread and are making stuff up. Anyone know how much a 5 year deal would be worth at most if it starts at 7.5 mil (if that's the trade exemption)?

Johnnybravo4
It is pretty sad when you can't depend on the flagship for information. In fact Chuck may have just been regurgitating the link to realgm that I sent them. They should at least be talking about the rumor? They are currently talking about who would you rather have in the game with 1 minute on the clock Vick or Brady....come the eff on man!
Lascar78
yup. I don't listen anymore, but they are pretty good for everything but the NBA. They are completely clueless when it comes to the NBA. NY guys probably know more about the hawks than them
Johnnybravo4
I am 1000% more of a Tennessee Titans fan than I am a Hawks fan and even I don't want to listen to mindless football topics all year...especially during Basketball free agency period. My football light doesn't click back on until August.
KB21
The first year of Al's deal would have to be worth $7.6 million, which is what the TE is worth. I'm not sure that will get Al the deal he wants long term, so I have my doubts. I will say that getting a first round pick for Al is better than saddling ourselves with any of the contracts Golden State has to offer.
KB21
They must not be too good in football either if they are actually comparing Michael Vick to Tom Brady. Tom Brady is eons better.
Johnnybravo4
I agree. But I am disappointed that we couldn't get a star or bordeline star in exchange for Al. I mean if the best we can do in FA with 18 million in capspace and Al Harrington is Speedy Claxton the BK really has to take some heat.
sinctybldh
I will be ok if this is the trade but it better be a first round pick in next years draft.
Johnnybravo4
We basically did a Sheed the sequel.
jezmund
If we get a Josh Smith sequel in return I will be more than happy.
KB21
What else was available? There was never a windfall of talent in free agency to begin with. Speedy Claxton was one of the top free agents on the market and will likely be a bargain for what the Hawks are paying him. Just because you have money available doesn't mean you should spend it. Johnnybravo4
I wouldn't because that would mean waiting another 3 years before he is an effective NBA player.
