Gray Mule
Yep. Read the posts. It's all over. This team can't possibly win with the parts that they have. Chicago handed them their donkey on a platter!! {Thought I was talking about the Hawks, didn't you ??} Now, about our bbeloved Hawks. You can't win if you can't score. A I had his usual wonderful scoring game against us. He always does. Hawks lost this one in the first half of the first quarter. They fell into such a hole they couldn't get out. From there, they kept everything even. We scored as much as they did, just couldn't overcome that huge, early blowout that we got hit with. No one could hit their shots. No scoring, no win. It wasn't just one player - or two players, it was the entire team. Too bad. Horrible way to start the game AND the season. All the games will not be like this. We'll still win our share. Just not the first one. GO HAWKS !!!!
Final_quest
Quote: All the games will not be like this. We have to realize this. Speedy is not gonna play this badly for one, and I also imagine that Shelden, as well as Josh Smith, did not show a fair representation of their usual game. Also, Marvin will be back in a few weeks as well. I'm not gonna over react over one game. Especially when it's clear that players were not playing up to their averages. Vafan
Preach on. I didn't realize the season was only one game long. Geez. Wait until the season is half way through before making silly observations. Cough. Cough. WALTER
TheNorthCydeRises
LOL @ graymule. It's like the fan base has been so used to wallowing in misery, that they can't help but to predict gloom and doom after one bad performance on opening night. But good Lord. Just think if we had won by 15 points. Posters on here would be predicting a 50-win season and a Southeast Division title this year.
Johnnybravo4
I think that most wouldn't have reacted this way if we would have played a hard fought game, executed, and then just lost. I mean they do have a hall of famer over there in Philly. But instead we got shi&&y execution, listless defense, and no passion in a blowout loss. That is why the sky is falling. TheNorthCydeRises
We played 8 minutes of horrible basketball last night. That isn't uncommon for an NBA team to have an off night, especially on the road. The Heat played like crap on Tuesday night. So did Phoenix . . after seeing a 19 point lead early in that game agaisnt the Lakers completely evaporate. Gilbert Arenas shoots 2 - 12 in last night's loss to the Cavs. The Hawks shot 33% last night. The Bulls looked like a Division II team against Orlando last night, after looking like NBA champions against the Heat. Ish Happens. I seriously doubt that the Hawks will shoot 33% tomorrow night, even if they lose. And Speedy won't go 0 - 5 from the field again. It's not like we haven't seen this before from the Hawks. Remember last year's opening night game @ Golden St? It was the same thing, except that we played great in the 1st half, and completely disappeared in the 3rd quarter. Up 65 - 55 with 8:33 to go in the 3rd quarter. By the time Ty Lue hits a jumper with 1:22 to go in the quarter, G-State had outscored us 27 - 4 in a 7 minute stretch and had an 82 - 69 lead. That's life in the NBA sometimes.
Eddielives
Somebody post the panic button picture. Hawks one game under 500. Panic!!! Panic!!!
Gray Mule
Hawks may loose again before the season ends. It could happen tonight. If it does, PANIC!! I know, I know. I want the Hawks to win ALL their games. It's not going to happen. Still, it would be a real shame if we lost our home opener and started the season 0-2. As bad as we want our team to win, all these other NBA teams want to win just as bad as we do. Someday soon, those shots that, so far, have missed the mark, will start to fall. Hawks are too good to keep missing so many. Hawks WILL win their share of games. I just want the winning to start with tonight's game. GO HAWKS !!!! mudderfudder77
Not to the Knicks they better not. I need you guys to wipe the floor with their sorry pathetic excuse for a team. Zaza and Josh ought to have El Lardo Curry fouled out by the third quarter, and as long as you guys play even a little defense you should have no problem handling the rest of their 13 pg's. The Bulls ability to get Oden depends on you!

HawksFan87
We can do it, Speedy needs more playing time as it was only his 2nd game back. Smoove and Shelden got into early foul trouble , but that wont happen every game they will get theirs. Joe was 9-25 he will come around . I'm not worried at all not yet anyway. terrynoonan
Probably believes that George Bush is a "good man" too. Sometimes you have to be negative to ever see anything positive. I'm sorry but there is nothing positive about this team. Maybe a few, but that will not overide the negatives. We have over 2,000 dead American men and women and mostly boys due to this kind of positive spin thinking. Call this for what it is. A steaming pile of sh!t.
