jerrywest
Dude, if you are not working for the Hawks already, you should become a consultant with them. You know your NBA.
drzachary
Nice observations, northcyde! Thanks for posting a well-reasoned reply.
drzachary
northcyde, can you put together a similar eval of Foye? He was the other combo guy a lot of us wanted (including me.)
exodus
There is one little problem with your analysis. Roy's career is 30 games old. If you are going to preach patience with our young guys.... I wouldn't want to see someone do a similar analysis on Shelden.
Premium Member Diesel Posted February 9, 2007 Premium Member Report Share Posted February 9, 2007 Foye was actually a more reasonable choice than Roy. Mainly because Foye did come and workout for us whereas Roy turned us down. Also, Foye does have real PG skills. I think what happened though is that BK and his people said that it's easier to find a good big in the draft than it is to find one in FAcy and they took Shelden in the draft. They must have also reasoned that they can get a good PG in FAcy. Hence, you see us offer Sam Cassell 7.5 million per year over 5 to come to Atlanta... When Cassell turned us down, we went after the next highest rated FA PG... I don't think that the plan was wrong. I think we did what was best for our team. Moreover, when Speedy and Shelden are 100%, I doubt we hear any more of these stupid Hawk hate posts. Mainly because Speedy has shown the ability to be a 8-9 apg PG.. while Shelden could be a double digit rebounding guy.
