Our best games have been when Speedy is playing well or when Lue is doing something.

Speedy has been a non-factor. The Hawks won 7 games in january that he didn't even play in.

Against the Clipps he was 3-11 and had to be taken out at the end. After he was taken out the Hawks came back. Against the Suns he had 6 pts, 2 assists and 2 to's. In the NJ win he was 1-6.

Lue hasn't hardly played this year and has had only 2 double figure games this year. He bailed the Hawks out in NJ but that was only after JJ had scored 25 pts in the second half/OT.

The Hawks need scoring and Roy can score better than any rookie. The fact that he gets a lot of minutes at the point on a team with Jack and Sergio should tell you something.

Oh, I've watch a couple of Blazers games, the question is HAVE YOU???

Roy doens't Run the offense...

You said in another post that Roy will be better than Chillz in your little Glue guy post.

Well, we don't need a better than Chillz playing PG. We need a PG. Somebody who can actually get us into offensive sets and get everybody involved.

Hell, JJ can play PG and we can go after a high scoring SG... BUT.. we'd have the same problem. JJ is not a PG and that's for a reason.

Just because you can dribble a basketball doesn't mean that you're a PG.

But Diesel says he can't play the PG spot...I guess he doesn't watch any Blazer games.

Four years ago, a lot of people thought Dwayne Wade wasn't a 'true point guard', but three playoff seasons and 1 NBA championship later, he has done 'alright'...

Not getting Roy was a 'mistake'...

NOT getting Paul was a mistake.

Not getting Roy wasn't as big a mistake.

The thing to remember about Wade was that there was no redundancy at his position... remember he has won a championship playing OG with Gary Payton and Jason Williams playing PG... Even now, the Heat are looking for a PG so that they can keep Wade as an OG. Wade is a Scorer. JJ is a Scorer. Roy is a scorer.

PGs are special.

Not anybody can just jump up and play PG like Sf... However, it requires a certain Skillset and bballIQ to play that position. Roy may be a good ball handler, but he was just another duplicate of JJ.

I respectfully disagree. Roy could have an impact on this Atlanta Hawks' team. His skillset was there, and more importantly, he is a 'leader' and wants to be a leader. Dwayne Wade has that same quality. Now Gilbert Arenas is a SCORER, but not a leader-- remember when Coach Eddie Jordan criticized Gilbert after his prediction vs. the Blazers?

Let me address 'duplicating' positions. Roy can play THREE different positions..Now JJ is a lock at SG, but he can occasionally play three different positions. They are versatile, aggressive, creative players.. However, Chillz,Lue and Marvin aren't 'locks' and don't show up every night... IF Roy outplays them, then someone has to go.. Chillz would be the odd man out and Speedy wouldn't have been acquired, if Roy was drafted...

Most 'scorers' like Arenas may not make the best PGs, but some can make that transition, because they have certain leadership attributes that makes someone like Roy a viable option as PG.. or at least 'share the duties'...similiar to what's happening in Miami

Yeah, and as a PG, JJ has a 2:1 A/TO ratio...

However,

Have you watch JJ play PG for the Hawks??

And

Iverson as a PG is over 2:1 and statwise he looks like a beast..

But have you seen Iverson playing PG...

Don't let stats override what you can see with your own two eyes...

Jarrett Jack is in PTL for a reason.

Roy is a rookie. JJ and Iverson aren't yet Roy has a much better assist to turnover ratio than they do. iverson and JJ are too turnover prone at the point and don't run the break well.

I have watched Roy plenty. Watching him in college it was obvious that he had more pg skills than JJ. That is why Portland gives him a lot of time at the point even though they have Jack and Sergio. it is also why Jack is considered their 3rd best pg, at least by Portland fans.
