Premium Member Vol4ever Posted June 13, 2007 Premium Member Report Share Posted June 13, 2007 Well I am just giving my opinion and I remember his sophomore season. I also remember the Hawks passed on Tony Parker too. I just believe at this point Law has more upside than Jack. I've watched jack play in the league and I am not convinced he is a PG. Premium Member hawkman Posted June 13, 2007 Premium Member Report Share Posted June 13, 2007 Quote: Jack actually proved he could play and was ready for the NBA unlike CRitt. If some one who supports Critt does not want Jack they are insane. Jack was 10 X the PG of Critt at GT. Jack is ready to play now, Critt may neverbe ready for the NBA as a PG. Keep in mind that Critt was a freshman this past season when you look at his stats. Imagine how good he would be if he stayed in college for another season. He would probably go top 5, somewhere behind D.Rose of course. I really liked Jack at GT too but Critt has the potential to be something special. He was the best player on his team as a freshman. To say that Jack was 10X the PG that Critt is and assume that he may never be able to play at an NBA level sounds a little premature.
Premium Member Diesel Posted June 13, 2007 Premium Member Report Share Posted June 13, 2007 Unfortunately, I believe BK agrees with you. If you see Conley slip to 11 (very possible) PTL will pull the trigger on this deal. Hell, if you see Green stay in the draft, PTL may pull the trigger on this deal. thesheedera
I'm with Boondocks. I like Jack a lot, 11 feels a little rich though. If we had #15 or 16, that might feel a little better. I'd take Conley, Hawes and Noah at #11 over Jack without hesitating. I think I might take Crit over Jack for the upside. Law is the huge bogey for me, I can't get my mind around who/what he is. That decision would be a complete guess. I wish we could have Jack for the present and near future, and one of the three 07 draft PGs for the real future. Boondocks
Trading the 11th in what some call the deepest draft in a long time due to a change in the hs rule, two special talents (Oden, Durant) and the unheard of before FL team staying in college after winning the championship despite all being lottery picks then and now (Horford, Noah, Brewer) is just, well, would rather fit BK's track record unfortunately.. It's a very rich talented draft, to give up the 11th for a player you know to be decent/adequate and an improvement over what we have is a luxury we cannot afford, Hawks simply aren't good enough yet to pull such pranks. If there isn't a pg you feel comfortable taking 11, take a c, rugged pf or a sg, don't blow it on a role player which Jack is. A good one but not the stellar play maker with good defense some seem to think he is. So a BPA that's not a sf seems to be the route for 11. After all is said and done, Taurean Green might be just as good as Jarret Jack (albeit smaller) but he's probably a late 1st rounder/ 2nd rounder. I'd go with Yi or Horford at 3, if Law, Conley and Critt a) impress at their respective workouts and of course b) are available at 11 I'd be much more comfortable but I'd love drafting Brewer, Noah, Hawes and even Nick Young at 11. My preference would be 3.Horford and 11.Conley
