Thanks for the information. The guys that stand out to me being overpayed are Claxton (always hurt cant shoot), Marvin Williams almost 5 million to do wat?, Lorezen Wright (Rides the Bench most of the game)

If healthy, Claxton's not overpaid, and $3M is sadly market value for a vet big that's a good locker room presence. Marvin Williams is already a "league average" SF, so 2 years, $10M isn't THAT bad.

The ones of personal interest to me are the guys on last year of their contracts. We can bundle up Wright and Lue and AJ if needed in a trade for a quality big man.

I think that was the initial idea behind the Wright and Lue deals, as well as the willingness to acquire AJ.

Take out guys on their rookie deals and right now we only have JJ, Speedy, ZaZa under contract for 2008-2009. There are a lot of franchises that wish they could say that.

My favorite thing about BK is his dislike for bad contracts. I don't think Claxton was completely his idea although it very well could of been. I'm still willing to give Speedy a chance since he is supposedly healthy now.

at least Claxton's contract looks to be frontloaded, so he becomes cheaper and cheaper over these next 3 years. Should make him either more valuable to us if he starts to play better, or easier to move because the $ isnt as bad.

Can you double check the money for #3 and #11?

on hoopshype it shows the 2007 money for #3 as $3.12M, and #11 getting $1.6M

We def have the expiring contracts to get something done in the trade department. Sweet. That's a plus.

Keep in mind we payed JJ $20 million in his first year, so at this point we are actually paying him less than what he counts against the cap. Hopefully this gives the Spirit more money to have flexibility.

Yep. My best guess is that JJ is owed $10.54M next season, $11.50 in 08-09, and $12.46M in 09-10.

So, the Hawks are saving around $2 - $2.5M on the cap each year because of JJ's contract.
