Slow day on the old squawk...

I know people don't like just smart ass answers so:

Horford and Marvin aren't going anywhere. I'll be pleasantly surprised if we move AJ or Lue or Lo before the season. Other than that this is our team. Its a good team and its one our owners can afford.

Just coming from a quote from Navarro who basically said that Gasol has given an ultimatum to Memphis that they must get Navarro...

I believe Gasol's days in Memphis are numbered...

Just wondering why Washington would give up Navarro and a #1 pick (along with Haywood) for a SF withgreat potential, when they have Butler there already, and they just signed Stevenson to a 3 year deal? I don't see this one flying at all.

I don't think Washington has the player value to get Gasol..> Nor do I think Carlos would play there. HOwever, if there's a fire sale on Gasol, then maybe he can be traded for a package like Butler/Heywood but Washington would also have to be willing to take on a bad contract.

I think one of the problems here on HS is that people don't realize how good Gasol really is.

I mean, they say... How great Marvin/Horford is but Have Marvin/Horford ever single handedly led their team to the playoffs???

Have they ever been to an allstar game? Have they ever led their team over the US National Basketball team? The combo of Gasol and Navarro are part of the reason why America doesn't win gold anymore.

This is a true fact here, Gasol is about one of the top 15 players in the game and he is definitely a game changer. Marvin is hope and so is Horford.

About Juan Carlos Navarro... I can't say that I know a lot about him, but Gasol has made it his business to want the guy. From what I have read, JCN is a pure PG with a stroke...

I think this is a good test for all American players who are only eligible to play for the US National team. wink.gif

Seriously, that is a point in favor of Gasol but the fact that Marvin and Horford haven't done this is to be expected, not criticized.

It's not a criticism... It's just a point. Marvin nor Horford is not even on the level of being asked to play on the American team. This is potentially an opportunity to get one of the top 5-10 Big men playing the game, one of the top 15 players playing.

We have become so inoculated with BK's thoughts on Marvin and Horford that we believe somehow that they are UNTOUCHABLE? Please tell me why? We can get a top PF in the game and we're busy worried about potential?? If that's the case, then we should have never traded Diaw for JJ.

Winning teams make Winning moves. Us having JJ, Smoove, and Gasol on the same team would make us a winning team.

Other than a couple of charity cases like JJ Reddick, only a very select group of players gets asked to play on the American team. Why would Marvin get asked when they already have Carmelo and Lebron at SF? The depth is the same at most of the remainder of the team as well. You need to be a true star to get on the team (unless you have some discrete skill and they think you can be a role player like long-range shooting or defensive specialist).

I agree that neither Marvin nor Horford are untouchable and that our team would be a lot better with Gasol on it. I think the deal would have to be the right one because he is pretty expensive but building around Josh Smith, JJ and Gasol would be a great foundation.
