Premium Member Diesel Posted August 15, 2007 Premium Member Report Share Posted August 15, 2007 I'll start: Law = 10 ppg, 5.8 apg, 2.3 rpg. 44% FG JJ = 21.4 ppg, 5.5 rpg, 3.1 apg. 51% FG Josh Smith = 18.9 ppg, 8.9 rpg, 2.6 apg. 47% FG Horford = 7.8 ppg, 6.7 rpg, 1.0 apg. 44% FG Shelden = 12.2 ppg, 10.1 rpg, 1.2 apg. 48% FG Marvin = 10.1 ppg, 5.4 rpg, 2.1 apg. 43% FG Zaza = 9.8 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 2.7 apg. 43% FG Chillz = 10.1 ppg, 5.9 rpg, 2.9 apg 46% FG Speedy = 6.5 ppg, 1.6 rpg, 6.6 apg, 44% FG Solo = 2.3 ppg, 3.4 rpg, 0.7 apg, 42%FG
Premium Member AtLaS Posted August 15, 2007 Premium Member Report Share Posted August 15, 2007 I expect better from JJ in passing, but with his scoring and %'s that's about what I'm looking for. I expect better from Childress as well. I know you hate Marvin, but I really hope Marvin puts up better numbers than that. No way Shelden averages 12 and 10. Only 1 50% FG shooter on the team? That's horrible, and JJ shouldn't be the decision. Aren't you optimistic about our team next year? How do you expect us to win with only 1 50% FG shooter? We won't win more than 30-35 games if we're LUCKY. I think Horford, Shelden, Solomon, Childress, and possibly JJ should shoot at or above 50%. Hopefully Zaza as well since he won't be relied on for scoring.
Zone034life
I agree with most of it except swap Sheldon and Horfords numbers.Where are Lue and Salim?Do you expect them to be cut, traded or ride the pine? The Hawks must get more production from Marvin as well but sadly enough I believe your prediction of his numbers are fair! Premium Member Diesel Posted August 15, 2007 Author Premium Member Report Share Posted August 15, 2007 Must be joking? Shelden did better than that playing injured as a rookie. My Shelden figures are based on what he started and ended the season doing. Horford was not a very strong scorer in college.
Zone034life
Horford is a better all around player than Sheldon will ever be.His shot blocking, jumper, and assists will be better than sheldons rookie season. What teams did he post good numbers against at the end of last season? What were there records? How did he do going against the only true NBA big man in Paul Milsap in the RMR.Sheldon williams is fools gold!!!! Premium Member Diesel Posted August 15, 2007 Author Premium Member Report Share Posted August 15, 2007 While you're just pulling stuff out your arse, go head and say Horford will be better than Karl Malone too...
Zone034life
Lol...he doesn't have to be better than Malone in this debate just Sheldon Williams.Surely you're not saying Sheldon is the next Malone!

Zone034life
Wow!!!Sheldon is the next Karl Malone...huh?????You are basing next seasons stats on the beginning of last season and the very last month.Sounds like you are applauding inconsistency!!!!!My side is I didn't and haven't seen enough from Sheldon to say he will average 12 and 10.Karl Malone????? Moderators AHF Posted August 15, 2007 Moderators Report Share Posted August 15, 2007 In fairness to D, despite the title of the thread linked above, Diesel was not arguing that Shelden was the next Malone. He was arguing that Shelden should be used like Malone.

Blunt91
Marvin better average around 14 or 15ppg for me to be satisfied. I see smoove avearging around 18ppg, but no more. No way JJ drops for scoring 25ppg to only scoring 21. He will still put up around 23ppg. No way Shelden averages more points than Marvin.
exodus
So Sheldens scoring goes up by 7 ppg even though the Hawks are bringing in Horford who will complete directly with him for minutes. Marvins scoring will be 3 ppg lower then last season when he had an injured hand. Sure

I would see him at barely scratching 4 per game if that...I think that speedy will be healthy and law won't play much more than 25 mpg until late in the year... I had to look it up, but why do you have Johnson's fg% so high since he shot 47%(his career high BTW) last year? If he truly can shoot over 50% he would be a top 5 player. I suspect that Speedy will be scoring more around 11 ppg I expect MW to score about 15 ppg Other than that looks realistic... horford and shelden have to split those numbers somehow... why not? The only problem is that when he does it, he sound so uneducated about sports in general! I don't know what Marvin Williams has done to him to be a constant target or what Shelden has done to be his darling but I find it so strange. Shelden can look as soft as butter on defense, set a million illegal screens, constantly lose the ball out of bounds and finish like a hack around the basket with no style and it is a thing of beauty to Diesel. Marvin one the other hand can cross over his man, block Garnett's shot, throw down a thunderous dunk on an opposing team, and have picture perfect form on his jump shot and Diesel want to trade him for Channing Frye! Please someone help me with this!

It is more than 110 ppg. (That is the sum of the player averages, not the team average). Remember that injuries, etc. result in players with inflated stats compared to what they would have if everyone was healthy all year. If the team scores 100 points in its first two games and (1) Shelden plays 35 minutes in the first game and scores 20 points and Horford doesn't play in the first game; (2) Horford plays 32 minutes in the second game and scores 20 points and Shelden doesn't play; and (3) Shelden plays 14 minutes in the third game with 8 points and Horford plays 20 minutes in the third game with 12 points that equates to an average ppg of 14ppg for Shelden and 16ppg for Horford for those games even though the team averaged 20ppg for both of them per game.
