We manage to keep the following players for at least the next six years:

Law

JJ

Chilz

Marvin

Smoove

Horford

Then BK just inserts needed role/bench players. Do you think the above core would be suitable to actually keep us vying for a championship year in and year out?

Absolutely...especially if Horford can play some post defense. That core with several more years of experience in general, not to mention playing together, would be a beast.

The trick is keeping them together, and healthy.

I agree man. Those six players bring a lot to the table. The trick as you also stated, is going to be keeping them together for at least another four to six year contract extension each...

Yep . . because we own all of those players Bird Rights.

We'll probably be well over the cap, and in luxury tax land though. We can definitely keep that core together for the next 3 years at least.

Yea that is what concerns me also. Of these six:

Law

JJ

Chilz

Marvin

Smoove

Horford

How many will command more than 10 mill a year in cap space? JJ is already at roughly 13.5 mill. If we could get the other five signed at an average of 10 mill, that would not be a bad deal at all in my mind.
