It's VERY RARE a rookie free agent gains that much respect in such a short time from veteran players. Rio will be a Hawks favorite as soon as everybody gets to witness his all out hustle on every single play.

I hope you are right. I'd take Batista back though.

(but with our cheap-arsed ownership...Mario is certainly cheaper than they would have had to pay for Batista)

Mario West...shooting guard who can't shoot. Not a tweener, can't play nba point and isn't big enough to fill in at SF. Energy guy...cheap.

Mario is a defensive specialist, that is his job. He's not here to play point and he's not here to score points. Say it with me, he's here to play DEFENSE. His teammates were so impressed w/ him they were willing to go to management to keep him on the team. That says alot about the type of player he is.

Batista did not make his teammates better, Mario West does.

There is no reason he shouldn't pick a spot on the 3-point circle, and learn to hit from there, ala Bowen. That is a weapon that can really make you useful, on both ends.
