I agree.

I mean, it can't hurt to play the kid for 5 minutes, to see if he can make a positive contribution, especially on the offensive end. If he's hot, you know he can explode for big numbers. If he's cold, he's doing no more than what Lue is doing, so it shouldn't matter.

But to just leave him on the bench, isn't helping anything.

And when you do play him, let him be Salim, not some spot up shooter that stands in the corner. He's a scorer, not a 3-point specialist. He's best when he's able to knock down the 3, and have the freedom to take the ball to the hole.

Northcyde, how long have I been touting Salim? Since back to the ESPN ATL Hawks message board days. The fact that Woody will not even give Salim a chance is reason enough for me to fire Woody. Then, he has so other many shortcomings, it really doesnt get hard to find reasons.

Coaching is about managing personalities and getting the best out of your players. Woodson can't do it.. I had suggested that Dominique could possibly be a interim coach.

I believe Nique respects Salim and his talent and Salim respects Nique and what he has done as a player.

Woodson is too old school and stubborn, and new philosophy is needed...

Actually Salim is suppose to be a changed man. He stated to Sekou that he has a new outlook on life and doesn't let things bother him the way he use to do. Yes, Salim does deserve some playing time. What a slap in the face it must be for him to see mario west get in the game(even if it is only 5minutes) but he still ride the pine.

Tonight against the Suns would be a perfect time to give Stoudamire some minutes. It's his type of game. The chances are unlikely because Anthony Johnson will be back taking up Salim's minutes.

While I agree that Salim can't play worse than Lue, that is hardly a ringing endorsement. The problem with Salim is that he just doesn't have the handle to be a PG. That being said, you can't put him and Lue on the floor together at the same time due to height/defensive concerns. And you don't want to put Salim with Law either at this point. So how does Salim get in the game? Yeah, he could have played the last couple fo minutes in the third quarter with the rest of the second unit, but that's about it. Salim needs AJ back so he can see some court time, and that may be tonight. But let's face it, Salim isn't going to get any run while we have smurfs running the point (and that includes Speedy if he ever gets back).

Good points, then why is he still here on this roster? Play him or trade him. The Hawks have drafted or acquired through free agency these undersized,injury-prone, one dimensional shooting guards posing as a point guard .. When will this end?

I don't care how bad his handles are, he couldn't be worse than some of the players we put out. His TO ratio couldn't be worse than a lot of our other guards. The problem is that Woody holds grudges like Larry Brown and we aren't good enough for nonsense like that.
