ESPN.com Hawks/Bulls Preview

Chicago (2-10) was considered to be one of the top teams in the East after advancing to the conference semifinals last season. Instead, the Bulls have been one of the worst, averaging an NBA-low 86.5 points and shooting a league-worst 38.5 percent from the floor.

The Hawks (5-7) have opened their three-game trip with consecutive wins after losing their previous 17 away from home. They have not completed a perfect three-game trip since April 9-12, 1997.

Atlanta is coming off an impressive 94-87 victory over Minnesota on Saturday, as it rallied from a 21-point first-half deficit and from 10 points down in the fourth. The Hawks also came back from a 10-point fourth-quarter deficit in their 82-79 win at Miami on Wednesday.

Factoid of the day: The Bulls are riding an 11 game winning streak against the Hawks.

What the hell is so funny about 2-10? That's not even a good batting average, let alone winning %! Furthermore who is scared of some scarecrow look alike from Kansas and some ugly cat from the basketball metropolis of Wau, Sudan anyhow?

Key Matchup Tonight

As you can see from that photo Ben Wallace is no Shaquille O'neal in the height department. Can Horfy keep Wallace off the offensive glass? Can Horford make Chicago pay for Wallace's lack of offensive skills down low by helping on Gordon and Deng?

The Hawks would like to send out a Missing Person Alert for the following individuals. If you have seen either of them please immediately contact Mike Woodson:

The Hawks are only 1/2 game out of the playoffs right now despite the brutal schedule they've faced out of the gates. The moment is here. The time is now.

according to Woodson 2 more games including tonight's. also looks like Pachulia will miss another game. funny thing is they don't even mention Speedy anymore.

• BAD-LUCK PACHULIA: As if things couldn't get any worse for Hawks center Zaza Pachulia, he sat out Saturday night's game against Minnesota with a sprained left ankle. Pachulia sprained the same left ankle in an Oct. 18 exhibition game in Charlotte, and that injury cost him the first five games of the season. "It was in practice [Friday]," Pachulia said before Saturday's game. "I came down on [Joe Johnson's] foot and turned it pretty good. But I'll be back from this sooner than I was last time." Pachulia said he plans to suit up Tuesday against the Bulls in Chicago, something Hawks coach Mike Woodson said he "hopes" is accurate. Rookie Al Horford started Saturday in Pachulia's place.

• LEFT ANKLE FOR LAW, TOO: Rookie point guard Acie Law IV missed his fifth consecutive game with a sprained left ankle. Law targeted Saturday night's game as his possible return from the injury suffered in the Hawks' Nov. 14 win over Charlotte, but Woodson said that was the rookie's optimism and not the team's medical staff talking. "He wants out there bad," Woodson said of Law. "But it's probably going to be another three games [saturday's included] before he gets back out there. We're not going to rush him back."

• LOGISTICS: Rather than returning to Atlanta after Saturday's game, the Hawks scheduled a practice for this afternoon. Afterward, they had a scheduled flight to Chicago for Tuesday night's game against the Bulls.

another 1000 view game thread even with it being a Tuesday.

This Chicago game is big for the Hawks in so many ways. First of all the Bulls are the supposed "best young team in the NBA" according to all the media types.

Secondly the Hawks have survied suprisingly despite a brutal schedule and not having a PG (again). With a win tonight the Hawks will start to be taken seriously.

Finally I know it's early but the Hawks need to put their foot on the Bulls throats tonight since they are one of the teams the Hawks will probably wind up battling down the stretch for a playoff seed.
