AnakinJoe
Watching Hawks games and contests on NBALP, it is apparent that we are transitioning from an all-athletic league to one that requires a balance of athletes and shooters. Yes, you can still live/die by the jump shot but as long as teams can play zone defense and find creative ways to keep defenders in the paint (for 3 or more seconds), having guys with great hang time is no longer sufficient to win. Much like the Raptors game, Portland just bombed us with shooter after shooter after shooter. Shooters don't have to be small guards. Tim Thomas or Villanueva could fit the bill. Take a risk on a bad contract and bring in Radmanovic. Rent Giricek for a few months. Do some damn thing. Give me a defensive big and a shooter and we may be ready to make a serious run. Gadzuric/Villanueva. Kwame/Vujacic. Foster/Rush. Petro/Szczerbiak. Pyrzbilla/Jones.
TheDude
we definitely need some shooters......the problem we have is that with our current starting lineup, the shooter we bringh in would be a bench player and would not be on the floor consistently.. but i'll take that over nothing. Packfill
If the team had a decent point guard and some semblance of an offense - particularly one with movement - then the Hawks might be able to utilize the shooters they do have. Until those two things happen the Hawks might as well role Lue out and let him score his 15 while giving up 25.
