gsuteke
VS @ The Good Guys The Bad Guys Click on this link for today's audio and minimize before continuing The Atlanta Hawks (21-28) travel to Los Angeles to kick off a Post All-Star road trip. The Lakers (35-17) were heading in the opposite direction of the Hawks before the break. LA is 8-2 over their past 10 games while Atlanta is 3-7 over that same stretch. Compounding the Hawks' problems is their 6-17 record on the road. Currently the Hawks are in a virtual tie for the 7/8 spots in the East with Philadelphia and New Jersey. JackB1
Great job once again!!! Anyone know if Kobe is still hurting with that bad finger? Is this a game we can win?
coachx
Kobe's finger will not heal without surgery...it will be a bother all season. Jordan played through the same injury his last season with the Bulls and won a championship. I'm sure Phil Jackson has made Kobe well aware of that but Kobe is no Michael Jordan. Jordan was tough as nails. Every game is a game they can win ! At least I can actually believe that now and not sound totally ridiculous when it is said. The Hawks are on the Bibby honeymoon right now. Their spirits are high and their thoughts have to be all positive. Of course Kobe and the Lakers don't want a sweep to the Hawks on their resume' so that adds for some extra motivation on their part. My game plan would be to give Kobe out side jumpers and take away the dribble drive. (I know, vs. Kobe that is easier said then done.) I recall in Jordan's last year in Chicago he had this same injury and played through it. Jordan won a championship that way but his out side shot suffered and his 3 point shot fell to like 20% so he all be stopped shooting from the outside. He relied on closer mid range shots and post up turn arounds.......Kobe will have to "remake his game in much the same way if he chooses to continue to play through the torn ligament. At least we have big JJ who at 235 lbs can bang with Kobe in the post. Also...nothing is wrong with ZaZa and Horford being sure Kobe gets knocked to the floor a few times. I know he won't like using that hand to break his falls. I look for Kobe to have over 10 assists this game and play the role of drive andf kick distributor until crunch time. Can't wait to see Bibby and the new look Hawks ! Horford cannot be in foul trouble. That is probably the #1 key for every game we now play throughout the year with ZaZa as the only backup vs. big centers.
