News flash: 'BLIND HOG FINDS ACORN!"

A victory! Yea, more that that. A road victory! How can this thing be?

First of all, Atlanta played a team that was missing two of their main players.

A team that "defense" is an alien word. They simply plan to score more than

their opponent, whoever it is.

The Hawks did it by scoring! Their shots were falling. JJ looked and played

like our JJ of old. Marvin played defense. He too was able to score a few points.

Josh Smith, nursing a sore hand late, still manager to be JS. Childress played some

very solid minutes at the point and otherwise did his usual good job.

Bibby scored! Again and again! That, plus his passing opened up things in the

second quarter. Knowing he's nursing a sore heel, we can't help but go "WOW!"

when we watch him hobble around and lead his new team.

Horford gave his usual solid effort, having to "rest" a lot due to foul trouble.

Hopefully, this will pay dividends in tonight's game.

Then, there's Salim. He played! He scored! Just as Bibby prevented the dreaded

"sleepwalk" in the second period, his replacement did the same for Atlanta in

the final quarter, as he carried the scoring load for a while.

Hawks have a couple of players who are either injured - but dressed - OR they

have inherited Shelden's position as keeper of the doghouse. Any one know

anything about the fate of Solomon Jones and Mario West? New D League guy

got some floor time, but not these two. We'll see tonight. Back to back games.

Once again, we saw a big muscled player have his way with the Hawks defense

for most of the night. All season we see this. Over and over. These guys are

good. No doubt about that, but still - - - -

Great offensive game. Hit those free throws! Defense, though not great, did

have their moments. Some silly turnovers, but not bunches of them. On the western

swing, that terrible stretch of the schedule, Hawks salvage one. Two more to go.

Maybe we can sneak out another one before we leave for home. That would be

good. Two would be great!

Hawks beat Utah 12/17/07 in Atlanta.

However, our last victory @ Utah came on 02/13/93 when Dominique Wilkins had 43.

Since he's still around and a Hawk, maybe we need to put him back on the active list.

This Utah team, like the Hawks, have their troubles on the road. However, they have

one of the best home records in the NBA.

Should be interesting tonight. Will the Hawks be run over and crushed or will they

be able to give a good account for themselves?

That's what the preview thread on NBA.com said. I assume they know.

It's been a while since D.W. was a Hawk and playing. Time to end this

right now. If our shots are falling and we can play OUR game, we have a chance.

We lost to Utah last December in ATL. That was the game with the Salim 4point foul play, etc.

That was last season, not last year. Last year was 2007, which makes last year's UTAH game occur in this season. In the game Gray talks about, Boozer played great, while Deron struggled with his shot big time.

The game you talk about, was the game in which Okur went off in the 2nd half, and brought Utah all the way back from the dead, to pull out the victory. That was the Salim 4pt play game.

He made up for that though, by drawing his own 4 pt play last night.

Heh. I remember that game... It pretty much lead to our season going down the crapper.
