Kimsey
I heard on 790 the zone that he may be extended. Hopefully it's on a 1 year basis and the good thing is we have no pick that he would most likely botch. So now he can concentrate on trading Chilldress for a possible lotto pick and Marvin Williams for any serviceable big.

After the 3 turn downs I can't see BK saying he wants to come back. lol

WraithSentinel
If they are extending BK contract. It is clear the owners like Woodson a lot. They will most likely extend his contract next if they have extended BK contract.

Nicholasp27
keeping bk is fine he has assembled a team that most would trade for in a heartbeat when considering the future sure it won't now or in the next few years, but boston/detroit/spurs are in the way now anyway, and should be more on the decline in 3 years while teams like us/portland/toronto/orlando will be on the rise as the new elite teams however, under no circumstances should they re-sign woody...let him go to indy this summer and get a real coach in here

BK has not been the perfect GM but taking Horford at #3 ( most of this board wanted Yi or Conley) now looks like a GREAT move. He traded his only draft bust for the good / solid PG we have lacked. For every bad move BK has made he has countered with a good one. The problem is with the coaching and the direct, on the court leadership. We need a coach who will crack the whip when JJ or Smith get out of control or when Marvin falls a sleep on the court. Woody seems to allow Smith and JJ to write their own book and play by their own rules too much. We need a coach who commands respect and has some clue of when to call in game adjustments........Don't call zone when a team has four 3 point specialist on the floor for example. (But the 6th grade girls gymn coach could tell Woody that.) BK tried 3 times to fire Woody. Its not BK's his fault ownership does not alow him to do his job. I have no problem, with BK.....especially considering the fact that he has publically said he wants Woody gone. If the Calderone trade rumors were true he almost hit a home rum their but ownership got in the way. The best thing for the ASG to do is to allow the GM to do their jobs (whoever that ends up being.) Kimsey
I don't think we can get Chilldress for what we drafted him at but maybe late teens to early 20's. I would trade him for Gordon since he is hell bent on signing a 1 year offer to become unrestricted and maybe working a sign and trade. With the 3rd pick it became a no brainer towards the end of the draft to pick Horford. Yi was the sexy pick early on but once he started to duck workouts against the top tier players he began to drop. Conley wasn't an option with 3 healthy pg's including Claxton at the time and an 11th pick to address the position. Now if he would of worked the trade for Stoudamire for the 3 pick/expirings then I would give Knight alot of credit.

That is the definition of failure for a GM.

Well, the week of the draft I was out of the country and only got on the internet on draft night to see what actually happened. All I know is the month before the draft I was one of 2 or 3 that wanted Horford. Everyone bought into Walter's daily post on Horford being an undersized clone of Sheldon Williams and Yi being the next Dirk that they fell for it based on YouTube clips. Every ones arguement was Al Horford can't play center b/c he was too short. The ones who didn't want Yi wanted Conley. I'm proud to say I was an Acie Law and Al Horford man from day #1. Then Jaywalker came on and said Horford was his man and maybe a third of the board then followed Jaywalker like sheep and liked Horford too, just b/c Jaywalker did. (No diss to Jay, he is a good writer and his opinion should be valued on this site for his past work.) I agree, to many in the NBA Al Horford was the #3 pick without competition but to this board Horford maybe had 1/3 of the boards support while Yi and Conley supporters made up the rest. (a week beofer the draft). On the Stoudemire tip: As much as I like Horford........he and Chills for Stoudamire would have been beautiful !Horford is tough and all but when he gets matched up head to head with Stoudamire you therm appreciate how much of a load Stoudamire really is. Now that we have Bibby I would have traded Chills/#3/#11 for Stoudemire in a heartbeat. There was just no way to predict we could get a PG like Bibby for a fire sale like we did. In the long run it will probably all work out. Law will be really good one day and Horford already is really good.
Premium Member mrhonline Posted March 12, 2008 Premium Member Report Share Posted March 12, 2008 I believe it was supposed to be a 5-yr. plan, with the goal being 50 wins next season. Anything less, and he's gone next season. Woodson's time is up, Knight will probably get one more year.

And the fact that he has been a complete non-factor against Howard, who we will be facing for years, simply reinforces that he isn't a full time center. Everyone, from his coach, the Hawks beat writer, and every opposing announcer says Horford is playing out of position at center. I said at the time of the draft that i am ok with him playing 15 minutes at C but more than that is putting him at a big disadvantage because he is going up against guys much bigger, like Howard. If he is going to spend a lot of time at center then he needs to learn how to use his quickness to his advantage on offense because you know they guy he is trying to guard will surely use his size advantage on the other end. A diehard season ticket holder and many other Hawk fans who wanted to finally fill the PG spot with a true pass first PG. (A fine perspective to have, especially if you didn't believe in the other PGs.) There was a big Conley at #3 contingent b/c though we had 3 PGs.......no one was ever counting on Speedy(for good reason), and everyone knew AJ and Lue were close to breaking down. Of course we had #11 to go after a PG such as Law, Critt, or Stuckey but many people thought Law was a shoot first combo guard (which now we all know is not true), Critt played sloppy at GT and was not ready for PG in the NBA (spot on), and Stuckey was hard to judge b/c he came from small school competition where he played more as a SG. When a rookie is matched up to the most dominate big man in the game (or at least in the East) that will happen. Especially when the coach refuses to play him. I agree Horford should be playing 15 mpg at C and 15 mpg at PF...............we just have to follow through with your Diop fantasy to make that reality........BTW that Diop vision you have hyping all season is a good one. He is the perfect compliment to make the existing front court work.
