Admin
I think I might have been generous when I predicted that we wouldn't even break 75 tonight. We need to start running Joe off of multiple screens because he definitely has his 3pt stroke working tonight.
gsuteke
They're a different team w/o Scola in there.
Murat
Quote: He looks like he is really going after all the rebounds tonight I been wanting him to do that for the longest time. He needs to be averaging at least 10 boards a game, 7-8 for him is unexcusable.
Admin
Scola and Chuck Hayes sure are impressive. Throw in Carl Landry and the Rockets recent drafting looks pretty damn solid.
KB21
....The guy gets underrated because he doesn't have the prototypical size for the position, but when he plays, all he does is rebound, defend, and score. We, as fans, don't appreciate players like Chuck Hayes and Shane Battier enough. The Hawks would be ten games better right now if they had a couple of role players that would just play their role and rebound, defend, or do whatever. I also think the Hawks have a coach that has not done a good job of defining the roles for his team.
KB21
Those guys were taken in different drafts. DerMarr was picked in 2000. Shane was picked in 2001. The debate would have been Shane Battier versus Pau Gasol had the Hawks kept the #3 pick that year. I believe Pete would have drafted Shane Battier, and it would have actually been a good decision. Admin
The Rockets have great scouts and that's an area that the Hawks really lack in, plus we never seem to have 2nd round picks where you can take a chance on an undersized player who plays above his expected ability like a Hayes. Murat
Ok u guys ready for the 3qtr meltdown? Quick poll: How many points down will the Hawks be at the end of the 3rd qtr? : a) under 5 b) 5 or more c) 10 or more Please vote!
KB21
I remember when Chuck was at Kentucky and was the best player on that team. Every time I would watch Kentucky back then, I'd always come back impressed with Chuck Hayes. This is a guy that they tried to make a tight end in the NFL. It really shows you what is wrong with scouting in the NBA. Too many scouts try to find reasons to downgrade a player that has stuck around and performed well. Guys like Chuck Hayes, Carl Landry, Paul Millsap, and Ryan Gomes....these guys proved they could play at the college level, yet were completely overlooked by the NBA scouts because they aren't the prototypes. Lascar78
Quote: c) 10 or more Easy pick. It's time for the Woody special. 16-2 run before he calls a timeout.
Curtis
Thats right! I still wanted him though. I remember being a Squawk member back then and someone saying 3 was too high to take him.
